How do I get to the Zues and Advanced Reactors? I dont see them in the my research options?

Do I understand correctly? To obtain the first plutonium and depleted uranium you will need to wait at least a year for the first spent rods??? I loaded the entire Type V reactor and the weakest cells show a lifespan of one year...
