Just an FYI, this class isn't luster. I'm sure you'll say you know that already, but they really emphasized that this class is not meant to be replacement for the scion class in base pso2. Temper your expectations.

See this level of detail and action? This looks like a class developed AFTER the Scion Classes of Base PSO2. Not as OP, but just as visually pleasing and (hopefully) powerful. Now compare that to the other classes. Only Braver Katana, Gunner's TMGs and Bouncer feel like they learned that lesson. The other classes either are too slow, their PAs don't pack nearly enough (visual) oomph or style... or both. I hope SEGA will eventually go back and prop up the other classes. They played it too simple/safe with the majority of them.
That new story update is really good. If only story updates could remain as consistently good from the start then NGS would have easily beat Genshin. Also, new CAST skins are always great! ;>
PSO2 has to be a game that was im my mind for years. And I love its gameplay as a Hack n Slash light. But the time when I really got into the game was when Luster was about to come out. And finally Slayer is almost here, time again to use my favorite weapon in all RPGs.
I think that: Base PSO2 normal classes < NGS normal classes + Bouncer & Braver from base < Base PSO2 Scion classes I think that classes like ranger, fighter, and hunter got way better, but not better than any of the Scion classes. So NGS did a great job with the base classes and it only makes me more excited for the Scion classes (hopefully) one day.
guess ill check back in 2 years when they finally add a class that takes more than 1 brain cell to play, really dont understand why theres no content for all the people that grinded scion classes
No charge weapon action ,no enhance PA , no double dodge into slide , no slash rise/fall , no zanverse/megiverse and many more Basically an inferior , braindead , downgraded version of Luster that was make with an intention for 5 years old baby to play

I hope you dont forget about the rest of the classes as with release of this class they are going to need to be adjusted and improved to remain relevant. Force, techer, etc def need to be boosted or rework as its outdamaged by every other class and is too slow attack wise.
Well they forgot about every other class when Jetboots came out lol and in base PSO2 after Luster came out there was no more reason to play any other class.
It's not even about damage IMO, most classes are just not very engaging or interesting. Balance can be done at any time with just adjusting numbers, creating an interesting class needs to be done early and with intent. Slayer has a lot of toys to play with and a lot of things you can actively be doing between/during/instead of just spamming counters and whatever highest potency PA you can fit in between those counters. Even if Slayer ended up dealing the least damage with optimal gameplay I'd still play it over all the other classes any day of the week because they are, for the most part, boring and shallow. Less "hold this button for literally 8 seconds every time an enemy goes down" Jet Intensity and more Relentless Blade. Less "spam this single button for 15 seconds straight" Fanatic Blade and more Focus Overdrive / Unleashed Rage.
Honestly I am just happy that it's very well rounded, that being the ideal expectation of gunslash/blade in Classic at launch- But instead it was just bad at everything instead of being okay at everything, with one PA that was actually useful.
I don't know why they got rid of focus/gear gauges. I hope we get more of them on the other classes too. Apparently people disliked them, and I will admit that most of them were boringly implemented or just dumb buildup mechanics. But good gear can be good. I hope we get more cool meters
Pso2 combat always looks so fun amd clean, now sega pls just start making the game around the combat more interesting than farming combat zones nonstop or waiting for eq

Sirius, Regulus, Spica, and Rigel are all names given to real stars. SEGA, please give us a Gunblade camo that is just a space telescope, so that I can take the naming scheme of Slayer PAs TOO seriously for my own good! (Yes I know I had a chance to make a Sirius pun, no, I did not want to.)

Luster was an advanced/scion class meant to be on par with the other advanced/scion classes, this is an actual base class that just focus' on Gunblades now, It would be just as dumbed down if Gunblades got an actual class in base instead of an advanced/scion class. Personally I think Slayer looks fine for what's been presented to us in NGS.

I hope they introduce focus gauge and similar mechanics for every class in the future like in base PSO2. It was always nice to have these mechanics that rewarded you for learning the fight and parrying/dodging everything to keep the bar and whatever bonuses it gave up. PD: SEGA pls it's been 2 years and there are no NGS style short ponytails please help.
Based. Base PSO2's mechanics had so much more depth and complexity to them than NGS has had. I do think Slayer is a good start but i wanna see more. Id like to see more markers as well. Like building up Phantom's Markers and exploding them was so incredibly satisfying.
I've been mashing with this and don't know how long it'll take me to figure out. Hunter was the 1st class I maxed out since I wanted ease of use, but the limited time offer to land a +50 complete weapon to jumpstart the class has me interested

If going by the old games the only thing that really hasn't been brought back from PSU to life even in base game short of advanced classes (specifically phantom) is a ranged/tech hybrid class. Fighgunner came back as braver, and Wartecher as bouncer
Might depend on the content you're doing. I'm thinking Sl/Fi, Sl/Hu, Sl/Ra(Maybe..?) or Sl/Bo might be popular ones. Sl/Fo might be just to ease into the class and learn it without managing pp too much, though I doubt that might be a concern. If true, might be dealers choice other than listen above for Sl I guess.

@@Kayune They chose this class bcs it is a pure gunblade class, one weapon, no extra shenanigans, and gunblades were missing in NGS until now. All the other scion classes have 3 weapons at the same time, you can't do that or it would trivialize the entire multi-weapon system. Base PSO2 had no multi-weapon system like NGS, yes you could swap weapons to a sub-class weapon or another weapon of your main-class but that was nowhere the same as a full scion class or NGS' multi-weapon system. And as it is, I do not see scion classes like in PSO2 to come to NGS anytime soon, they'd rather come up with sth entirely new. NGS is not base PSO2 after all.
Bouncer Soaring Blades is more Etoile SBs than the original Bouncer ones, Fighter, Bouncer, Ranger, and Slayer have inherited Etoile's PA modifiers based on moving or being stationary.
Idk has someone who played every class in Pso2, they kinda downgraded most of the classes, Gunblade and Katana was my main weapons and loved the fast pace and the dmg, and looking at this after katana being kinda meh, feels terrible and very slow, they need to make moves more simple and good, cause its not the how flashy and bunch of movement 1 move does, cause it feels like a mess on the screen, one ability does sht tons of slashes and only does 3 hits makes no sense.

I wonder what that is (also in that same trailer, I find it funny we all assumed the weapon action was the dodge action) during the second trailer, we the frozen photon blast animation ended with an explosion, which Im also curious about
Fair Question! This video is fairly incomplete so we gonna have to wait and see I guess. They definitely showed Slayer basic/close-range attacking in their promo-video. Let's hope they didn't remove it. Would put me off.

Sword Hunter definitely has enough Visual oomph and style. Shit ton of hit lag on a lot of it's attacks which makes it satisfying.

Well the focus gauge was mentioned to not be class specific, if you use the slayer as a subclass, but we wont know for certain till it releases

Fair Question! This video is fairly incomplete so we gonna have to wait and see I guess. They definitely showed Slayer basic/close-range attacking in their promo-video. Let's hope they didn't remove it. Would put me off.
@@NeroLeonhart that’s what I was thinking but I feel like that’s gonna make using gun while being mobile a little execution heavy because your gonna have to move and stop moving to use the gun and hopefully we can move while charging
The slayer is basically the average x box fan boy/girl
