In 1992, repeats of the classic 1960s puppet show Thunderbirds on BBC Two led to an unanticipated surge in demand for Tracy Island play sets in the run-up to Christmas. With retailers and manufacturers unable to meet the demand, Blue Peter stepped in to help, resulting in arguably the most famous and ambitious 'make' in the show's history.
Here's Anthea Turner to show you how to make your very own Tracy Island playset out of a variety of common household objects (and sawdust).
