  • See the milling of spur-toothed bevel gears on a amateur milling machine. The presented procedure is time-consuming but works fine in the home workshop.

Brilliant demonstration of the method described in Ivan Law’s book.
I’m just about to try it on my Myford Super 7 lathe, with the Myford dividing attachment . . . .
    Kind regards,
    Steve A.

I have a Stuart Sirius kit that has a bevel gear. Never got time to build it so it's collecting dust. Nice work on the Number 1 Stuart!

I too prefer the sound of the machine some of the other comments I don't even know where to begin other than somebody didn't have anything better to do human beings are a petty worthless lot to begin with those with the least intelligence or the most intelligence often make the most trouble especially if they have no practical experience.
Sometimes it's best to know only enough to be motivated and productive that's where the most fun can be found.
Learning comes from making it over because of some minor detail you are not aware of and therefore overlooked.

@@prof-rieg I'm strugling with this formulas... Can you help? The question is i need a bevel gear for 2 shafts at 90º transmission. I found at Aliexpress a bevel gear that is advertised as 15T M0.8. And here starts the problem. By the formula you use "d" should be 12mm (0.8x15=12), but is not. Also "dai" by formula should be 13.13mm, but is only 8.41mm. Also "daa" should be 20.13mm (for "b=3mm), but is only 13.13mm. What am i missing? I bought from Aliexpress this bevel gear and they work very smooth, but unfortunately they are not hardened and i would like to do by my own same gears and then do some heat treatment to make them hard. I already tried but i can't make them so smooth as the original one. At Aliexpress the seller have a draw. If you could take a look and give some help i would aprecciate a lot. Here is the link to the bevel gears: www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005119203188.html?spm=a2g0o.cart.0.0.55bc38daDI7KNO&mp=1

Just built and verified a digitally controlled rotating table having a resolution of 2.25 seconds. Cutting gears are waiting. The question is what kind of gears there are....

Sorry, this is too difficult for an amateur shop. This needs highly sophisticated gear cutting machines, i.e. American Gleason machines or German Klingelnberg machines.
