What are the implications for the criminal justice system with its foundational notions of personal property and personal responsibility if the person is an illusion? How could justice be justified? No human rights, just the law of the jungle. After all, if people having “their” property stolen and “their” body assaulted is only apparently happening, then why bother with legislation?
Simple. Justice is an illusion, human rights are an illusion, the law of the jungle is an illusion. But that's irrelevant - what happens IN the illusion continues as normal.
Tom Bayley To say that everything is x is so absolutely abstract and empty of distinction as to be precisely the same as saying that nothing is x. Thus if everything is an illusion then nothing is an illusion (see Hegel’s Doctrine of Being in his Science of Logic). To gain any purchase or traction on reality whatsoever requires the movement from empty abstraction to concrete determination via determinate negation, just as the fact that there is something rather than nothing requires the imbalance of matter and antimatter via the breaking of primordial symmetry.
@@johnhannon8034 I think 'illusion' is being used in a loose sense. In the sense that what is real is what is actually happening, and what happened in the past or what you think might happen in the future is actually a construct in the mind. The person is mostly a construct made of past memory and future projection. [Seen as a construct it is real i.e. it really is a construct, but as an implied reality it is an illusion. Yet the construct is effective either way.]
Another successful demolishing of everything that is good and holy! Is conscience (and exercise of it) any part of the apparent activity of a noone? Just wondering, what with the dismissal of green activism and nonchalance towards the non-problem of the poor and starving. I'm also wondering what kind of consideration there might be of the bombing and mutilation of life in parts of the middle east? Perhaps it simply doesn't come to mind. There are no long-lasting concerns after all, beyond making another cup of coffee or nursing the consequences of the last booze-up. It's all unreal, and what's real is unknowable. I have been duped into caring I suspect, not that I do much about it. So, on with the destruction! Vote Trump!

@@nondualityone But what seems to be missed is that all this is witnessed. You are missing the joy and the tenderness of empty witnessing. Instead you seem to be lost in the stupefaction of thinking about what you can't think about.
@UCsgTrtJKCl5YNqd5MwClEEw What is the practical distinction between reality and 'appearance' then? For sure "it's all just happening" - I get that. But you can't just throw sense out on that basis (thinking of the green movement for example.) The sense of danger is an appearance, but it doesn't change anything about the sensible response to it. And by the same token you can't dismiss the 'genuineness' of tender motivations etc. There is noone to dismiss them... UNLESS it all gets hung up on this hook of throwing things out because they are unknowable.
Over an hour about nonduality... that's absurd if u really think about it. It's one, not two so u are talking with urself thinking u are going somewhere, like there is something to know, some value to gain, like there is some real communication. Sweet dreams :)

Your tender honesty and humor
what is this grief of no tomorrow
when no one can hold the day?
the guard dog at the gate of heaven
is the belief in an other side
unfathomable, this song of life that has no words
and is all words
morning rolls through itself
night time dreams fade into memories
lost like all hand holds
in this book of echoes
forgotten halos surround the streetlights
heavy with dew
finches sing in the plum tree
a chorus of memory
paints the day
it is the assumption of knowing
that seems to cloud the window
and protect your eyes
from this unbearable beauty
of love
it is the idea of love
that protects your heart
from exploding
into love's unutterable light ♥️
