    dyes.

    You are by far one at the top of the cell dye game. Love the idea of saving used stuff to make black saves alot of floetrol

    thank you man I have been saving the left over bed material in hopes to reuse. That will make me save so much in flowtrole

    Always scared to dye halos, but black rims make it a lot less scary 😂

    Looks awesome. But yeah I would agree that your black dye needs a little more added to reach that true black.

    hey Rob!
    first of all - thanks for all the insights, your dyes are amazing! maybe you could answer some of my questions:
    - since you reuse your floetrol beds by adding black, does the black bed also include (used) silicon oil?
    - have you already figured out why the black is not that saturated?
    - is the (black) bed preheated? cuz i only seem to get cells in a hot bed.
    thanks in advance!

    How long do you leave your discs in the floetrol bed? And is the heat lamp always on?

    Looks so good! I'm curious what's your ratio for dye to floetrol? I found that my black often comes out even greyer than this one did. I'm doing the recommended amount of dye for floetrol but I feel like I may need to do more.

    • @LilbotDiscGolf
      @LilbotDiscGolf  Рік тому +2

      I use the recommended amount on the Prochem instruction sheet, but i use Idye Poly Black as well. Its a much blacker black than Onyx.

      Yes, add more black than is recommended tbh. Just make sure you add little bits at a time if you go over. Floetrol can only saturate with a certain amount before the powder starts clumping and forming little hyper pigmented spots in the bed

    Hey Rob, I dye under Windrunner Discs. Great tutorial and seriously awesome disc! I am curious as to how many drops of oil you add to your squeeze bottle mixes. Do you mix first, then transfer into the bottle or do the mix in the bottle itself? I have been mixing a batch of each color specifically for each bed I do and it's about time I started saving myself some time and effort for beds where I don't want to combine different shades. Figured I would ask a pro before I accidentally add to much oil to my first bottle mixes. Also, you still use 3 in 1, or another oil?

    • @LilbotDiscGolf
      @LilbotDiscGolf  Рік тому

      For these I use about 3 drops of dimethicone oil per 8 oz of floetrol, and I add it to the bottle when I mix the dye in. If you want bigger cells you can try adding it after the dye is mixed in and only give it a couple stirs

    Is the reason you don’t use the dye with oil on top so that only the bottom ones come up and through?

    I've been trying to get a full spectrum over white, but it doesnt seem to push through the colours like the black does. Any ideas? I just want the webbed spectrum of colours to transfer to the disc

    Question I dye discs from time to time but i use plastic cups to hold and mix my dye..if I get squeeze bottles like that will the die mixture last for a long time still? (of course Id shake it up before using it)

      Not sure what the shelf life is on dyed floetrol in the squeeze bottles but it lasts at least a couple months

      I pretty much only work with floetrol and clear glue, but I have done some work on flowery style dyes using floetrol

    Do you need to use a heat lamp to get the cells or can you just use a torch and let it sit in the dye for a longer period of time?

    • @LilbotDiscGolf
      @LilbotDiscGolf  9 місяців тому

      You'll need a heat lamp or food dehydrator for best results
