Just love for Muslim Town!! Glad you loved the food, culture and the people here khee
I enjoyed every single second of this food tour. Mindanaoan foods are definitely underrated!
Help... 🙏🥺
Hallo ..assalamu alaikum ...My name is Masfu ah ... I'm Muslem. Indonesia...IHave ...Frend Philipines ..Mindanao ..limpapa zamboanga....Its name Sara ...Zeina ...(moslem ) and Precylinda luistro ...
this is a criminally underrated place. there should really be more food tours here. the cuisine here is completely different. Filipinos already patronize indian and middle eastern food. this place deserves more attention. Palapa on adobo, ginataan, and curry is a revelation.
That's so true!
Yes! I hope Mayor Lacuna beautifies the area also so that this place becomes an added stop in Manila for tourists. A little sprucing up by making the mosque clean and establishments regulated, we wil see more tourists coming in. Please feature more Muslim establishments especially Muslim dine in restaurants with aircon so that I can share with others so that more Pinoys will have a better impression of our southern brothers and hopefully this will pave the way for all Pinoys will have a unified country despite different beliefs. God bless Khee
Bka pwd po ilabas na nla sa kalsada Yan pra matikman ng mga pilipino,..
Nasi kuning is from java, get riset please
@@taufiqbudiman9155yes, it's called nasi kyuning in the south. But generally in the PH, it's called Java rice. 🙂
Mostly those of Muslim ethnics are derived from a malay race with variety of sub ethnics including suluk, tausug, marano, Moro etc... Definitely the foods are kindly similar with a unique local touch & ingredients.
Mostly SEA Muslims want to visit the Philippines but our concern is a halal food availability, especially in famous touristy area. I think the government of the Philippines should implement a halal tourism in order to grab more attention from Muslim countries to visit the lovely Philippines.
I agree with you. Great idea, actually. In Singapore, all Jollibee branches are halal and are patronized by locals.
@@foodiemommaph we got jollibee in KL too... Just love it!!
I visited the PH before and I can tell food isn't a problem there you can eat sea food or vege pizza. There are a lot of choices you won't get hungry
@@US_AND_IL_ARE_WAR_CRIMINALS yeah those foods are halal but the cooking ingredients is uncertainty... Any halal food served with booze side by side, cooking ingredients such as mirin, rice cooking wine, no pork / lard status etc can be considered as non halal. The strict halal certification is required for the peace of mind. Just my 2 cents ...
I know that Kenny Roger's Roasters is Malay owned, in all of the malls and is halal. But it doesn't have any muslim authenticity.
I feel a similarity with Malaysia. Hope can visit Philippines one day.Happy Ramadan to Filipino Muslims from Malaysia. 🇲🇾

I love dodol here brunei
when i came back from Malaysia, naglaway ako so this is the first place dinala ako ng dila ko to satisfy my cravings... its true that their underrated, and i hope more vlogger will "exposed" our Filipino Muslim food & culture.

Didnt know that Manila has a Muslim town. This is so interesting...worth to be visited. I have been wanting to visit Manila since long time ago but always ended up hesitating because of the difficulties to find halal food there. Thank you guys for this video....will include Manila for my next travel destination soon

yes we have. I'm Filipino Muslim /w Chinese and Bruneian descent, there is Muslim town in Quiapo, near to oldest China TOwn in the world outside China
I am a Meranaw and Meranaw dishes aren't just complete without that staple "palapa" condiment. A trivia as well, Meranaw dishes are mostly spicy and yellowish in hue which are attributed to that turmeric powder we always put and incorporate into a lot of our dishes.
Wow food is so much similar to Malay food here in Malaysia! Same ethnicity with the Malays here, our bothers and sisters in the Philipines.
Very interesting right 😊😍
malay is only malay, what do you mean "ethnicity" in malay
pemikiran bodoh orang Malaysia. Atas dasar apa kalian sebut Filipina Melayu. Apakah atas dasar mereka muslim?
Mereka bangsa Austronesia sama dgn kami orang Sulawesi.
Jgn memelayukan yg berhubungan dgn islam atas dasar pemahaman sepihak kalian
There's malay ethnicity & there's malay race. They not same thing. Malay race concept developed by westerner like dutch and british because they see similar thing in this region like speak similar language (malay language was lingua franca) or looks. Malay ethnicity is ethnoreligious group(muslim. Meaning no christian malay). Who used this definition is Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei. Meaning you can be problem when you Christian but claim to be malay in this countries. Malay race concept now have replace with Austronesian word instead but is also technical wrong since these word is family language group.
@@Muizz93726 good point!
First time hearing that Philippines makes rendang too😮😮😮 I'm from Malaysia by the way😁 Quiapo is a must to check out town if i come to visit Philippines 😊
Yes! Ayam rendang pedas
Long time ago our forefathers traverse the region freely. Its the weatern colonials who separated us. So not surprising that the culinary of Muslim Filipinos are similar to that of Malaysia, Indonesia & Malays of Singapore.
The Moro ethnic groups in the Philippines are influenced by Indo and Malay cuisine. Randang is available in the southern island in the Philippines, Mindanao, especially in the Moro regions.
Wow! That amazing, looking forward more of your clips! loved the banana wrap, very environmentally friendly
Thanks! Yeah it's very traditional and good for the environment 😊

Dudul, similar to Thailand sweet call "Kalamae" you can find this kind of sweet during Songkran Festival.
local sweet rice desserts are also called kalamay / kalamayhati here. its rice paste cook in sugar and coconut milk. kalamay is also the word for sugar in Ilonggo.

Dudul is dodol in indonesia
In malaysia some of the district call dodol as kelamai or ponganan and the sweet rice they call wajik or tompi

Hearing some similar languages...as we speak here in Indonesia prove that we are relate, we are family.
Yes!!!
Distant cousins. 😂
they speak modern Filipino language thou, Manila is actually the Main City of Muslims in the old days before Spanish genocide/colonization so the only region left is the southern Island Mindanao. They speak tagalog, but they have their own language. I came from Iranon tribe and we have similarity with Maranaws, you can call us Ilanun (Pirates) on bahasa Indonesia, our tribe migrate also in Indonesia so you can search us and we exist today in Indonesia and we also have in Sabah Malaysia. Maranaw and Maguindanao tribe came from Ilanun tho but we're not on the mainstream and not really recognized here in Philippines. All they know is Maranao, Tausog, and Maguindanao. Basically, we Iranons/Pirates are more spread than the rest of Muslim tribes since we exist in Indonesia and Malaysia at the same time
If you can hear the tribe languages, we have alot of similarities, even our count is almost similar with bahasa Indonesian

Thats wrapped palok resemble our version of Lempok commonly mixed with durian paste in malaysia a delicacy during Eid..the local people should work together with the local authority beautifying the quarters with colorful paintings ..trust me it’ll attract more visitors from outside plus increasing the feasability of the place..make it a tourist attaction..
Ohhh it's interesting coz it's very fragrant, not to sweet, with a hint of durian. Great idea! I hope the local government would make it happen 🫶🏻
Kelapa is also known as "nyior" in malaysia and many parts of indonesia, and even singapore & brunei. So, "nyioq" is relatable. Btw, sure love your accent 😘 probably spent time overseas much ?
Didn't know about "Nyior" which really sounds like our "Niyog"
Thanks! I was born and raised in the Philippines and spent 3.5yrs in Singapore during covid season 🙂
yep, "kelapa" is often the formal, written terminology whereas "nyior" is usually the informal, spoken terminology. Both are understood by most as references to coconut (fruit & plant). mabuhay ✌️
@@foodiemommaph the people of the north peninsular Malaysia also call it nyioq or nyoq
@@foodiemommaph Nyior and niyog are cognates. R in Malay is normally G in Tagalog, like "beras" in Malay is "bigas" in Tagalog, "pari" in Malay is "pagi" in Tagalog.

In Brunei Darussalam we called like the Pastil as nasi bungkus or wrapped banana leaves with varieties of topping especially the sambal of Anchovies, smoked sambal sprats or sambal ,prawn sambal etc.

Yes! Sama nama dan makanan 😊 but different in taste 😊
I was there in late 80an when I attamp a 3 month cource at UPLB at Los Banos, Philippines...
Wow 3 months only? Were you able to try Filipino foods?
DODOL exactly the same as what we have in Java islands or lemang & Rendang in Sumatra, Nasi kuning or yellow rice all over island in Indonesia, opor ayam / yellow chicken curry.. its originated from old times generations.. and become festive food on HARI RAYA / IEDUL FITRI CELEBRATIONS
I think most of Moslems ethnic in Filipina descendant from Bugis Sulawesi.. the kind of food & the way of cooking exactly the same..
It's so fascinating right? They may all look the same but the flavours are a bit different in some dishes as we incorporate local ingredients depending on the area.😊
Not all of them are Bugis, many of the ethnic group in the south are Suluk, Bajao, Maranao dan Maguindanao ethnic group. Many of the Suluk have relation with Sabah in Malaysia so their culture is very similar to the Muslim in Borneo Malaysia and also Sulawesi because the island are all interconnected because all these people are seafarers and they move around all the times.
