I am trying to understand what guys get out of this.
What is the point? I doubt it is for the meat. Is it excitement? Feeling of power or relevance? Getting in touch with the inner hunter-gatherer?
I am also a bit perplexed with usage of a sniper scope to shot a large, stationary animal within 200 to 300 yards. Why not use the iron sites?

I have hunted Alaska alot, i have seen tracks, that at first i said, look a Bear track, just because of the size of the track, then you look closer and say,, Yowsa, thats no Bear track, thats a Wolf track,, look at the size of that thing, me and my Buddy watched a Lone Black Wolf run down a Caribou last year in the Brooks range,, that Caribou had a Good 500 yard lead on that wolf,, slowly he gained ground, they came off the mountain and hit the tundra, the wolf is now a 100 yards behind the Caribou,, we lost sight when they hit timber and the river,, this is at 2.30 pm,, i marked where they hit the timber,, put on them waders and lets go,, took us a hour and 20 minutes to make it down there, we are walking the river when i see something come around the bend,,, rifle comes off shoulder and Ka-pow,, that wolf had already killed the caribou and had a whole back leg in its mouth, it was a female and Bush Pilot said she was weening pups , thats why she was bringing leg to them, we did see other just caribou legs in our area, and i wondered where;s the rest of the bones, Now I know,,,,,One wolf kills one Caribou,, what does a pack of twenty do a day ??????

EXACTLY = if wolves are not managed they WILL kill themselves out of prey:
Ź in Eastern Russia when that happens wolves group into super packs killing everything they encounter as they cross vast milage = wild ungulates, livestock & yes people...in 2013 a DuperPack of 400 swept the territory...!
In WWI they ate country folks! Villagers & soldiers on the frontlines(look it up) 200+yrs ago a super pack invaded France & Paris itself = in broad daylight...the Globalist's fully understand this unfolding & plan on it on a massive scale once they disarm us all...!!!

You guys area big inspiration for me to pursue my dream of getting an Elk this year. I live in Idaho, and am going late September this year! Not sure who I am going with, but I am going none the less! I have a 40 and 80 yard archery range in my back yard and shoot every day after work with my 5 year old son. It's a blessing that in spite of all the negative stuff going on right now that you guys are pushing forward and producing inspirational content.
Thanks for the fantastic content and God Bless you guys.

I like the little informational pop ups.learning the facts about the predation of wolves and the bite force fact was a nice add on.i can't believe their bite force is so strong.incredible creature and very destructive to the game animal populations.i would really love to do a hunt like this and have the chance at a bear or a wolf.super cool experience.

Hell of a great start to bear season boys. Ryan heck of a shot on a great wolf. Its nice to see a couple other guys hunting with you two. i really like hearing other guys perspective on both YouBrian and Ryans style of hunting. The gnarly hiking elevation. I hunt solo cause i have the same style. its hard to find guys who dont mind it. Anyway great start to the series. Stay healthy and gritty boys!

I'm not against hunting in any way. I'm originally from PA, and I know some years the white-tails get out of hand and need some serious reduction to take place. No problem.
But I AM curious about the need for predator management, especially in the aftermath of the many wildfires that have happened in the last few years. The ratio of predators to prey animals has always seemed SO low that I'd have to see some stats on the wolf and bear population, before I believe in the need for culling.
This is an attempt at honest discussion. I am more than willing to listen, since I'm sure you folks have more up-to-date data than me.

    • @garrettsmith8286

A yr old and no reply because they have no good answer. I've seen the reports on wolf populations state by state and they always improve the eco systems, rivers, large and small game in the area. There is a good video on the reintroduction of wolves to Yellowstone that proves this both by Fish & Game and Park Services.
People that hunt like this just enjoy killing and the ego gets a kick out of it. They actually enjoy the kill. Most hunters I know that hunt for food don't actually enjoy killing their game but honor the kill by using every bit of it for survival. This is for sport.
Its pretty sick if you ask me.
Anyone feel free to honestly chime in without arguing.

@@garrettsmith8286 -- If you scroll through the comment section of this video you'll find at least 30 responses (if not more) to this same exact question. Although I work very hard to respond to the sincere comments posted to my channel, I cannot get them all. No doubt, wolves are a healthy and natural component of the ecosystem. And so are humans. Wild game meat provides nearly 500 million pounds (low estimate) of natural, sustainable, healthy protein to the U.S. population. If you eliminate that source of healthy, organic protein for the human population, you must replace it somehow. Mass feedlots and increased monoculture crops are the typical solution, which encroaches on existing habitat and is wholly unnatural and bad for the environment and less than ideal for human health as well. In and around Yellowstone, wolves kills nearly 12,000 elk per year. Humans account for 25,000 elk kills per year; but that number used to be far greater than that. Ecosystems strive for equilibrium--the more elk killed by wolves, the more wolves grow (unchecked) in number and the more elk the wolves will consume to live. Feeding all of the nations elk and deer to an unchecked wolf population is the height of arrogance and stupidity. Divorce your emotions from this discussion. Wolves are incredible animals--but I don't give them special privileges--they aren't more important to me than the rest of the animals in the nature. Wolves don't look so majestic when they rip a baby calf elk out of its mother during birth. Or when a pack of wolves move into an area and decimate the moose herd. And we don't hunt wolves recklessly--we hunt wolves as part of an overall game management plan that balances the well-being of ALL the animals in an ecosystem. This wolf was legally harvested and killed based on sound biological and ecological studies. Sound wildlife management starts to fall apart and animals suffer when emotions get in the way of logic. The wild is my backyard--I'm a student of nature. I spend nearly 150 days per year on the mountain. The ignorance of city people is insufferable. The U.S. population is inundated by pro-wolf propaganda that preys on the emotions of the ignorant. Spend 150 days per year in the wilds of our nation without cell phone and the conveniences of modern life and just observe nature. Then come back and talk to me about wolves when you've actually lived it. We eat what we kill and almost nothing else. We don't buy meat at the grocery store. And we grow a lot of our own food as well. I'm all for sharing the elk, moose and deer populations with the wolves--but the key word is "share." Which means the wolf population must be hunted the same as deer and elk are hunted; why should wolves get a free pass? The idea of not hunting wolves is utter nonsense to anyone with a basic understanding of the wild. An unchecked wolf population will reach equilibrium and that equilibrium has a cost--it isn't free. That cost is a massive decrease in the available protein for human consumption and the need to replace it with far less eco-friendly alternatives. Or, we hunt and trap wolves in a controlled, legal manner per wildlife management objectives determined by our state and national wildlife biologists--I choose this.
