Inside you can watch a local jazz ensemble that's be playing there for many years and is popular with locals and tourists.
Surprised you were not approached by bloke/s on Nanjing Road with mobile phones showing pictures of pretty women or pretty women who spoke good English offering to take you away to a designated place for a coffee, as it occurred to me when I walked down this road a few years ago (I didn't take the bait as I already knew what happens from friends in Sydney); your camera may have spooked them. You can try it without your camera and see what happens, but remember, it's a scam.
