A bit of a different video today! Mercedes-Benz is introducing a feature into their 2017 E-Class which caught my eye! They will play a short noise just before a crash which causes your ears to contract, lowering the amount of noise which enters into your ears. Learn how it works!
Car technology is really beginning to turn cool! I've heard of the stapedius reflex before, some people can actually control their stapedius muscle in their ear and contract it whenever they want which is pretty weird but cool
A bit like how your airbags don't go off at random times, I doubt this will. Plus it's not actually that bad, just takes your hearing slightly out for a few seconds.
The insurance industry is probably not worried at all actually! Their ideal driver is one who makes payments consistently but never gets into an accident (so they never have to pay out)
Apparently they are already scrambling to work out how they are going to make money as more and more people don't need insurance: www.wsj.com/articles/driverless-cars-threaten-to-crash-insurers-earnings-1469542958
This is true @notroop, at a certain point they will be profiting, but then we'll begin to realise we really don't need insurance and people will probably drop it as it's a pointless expense if it becomes impossible to crash cars, but until all cars on the road are smart cars, we're going to need insurance as people in normal cars can still crash into us, so insurance companies are still gonna be around for quite a while.

Can I just say how good the sound quality has been in the past 3 videos? What is different?
Seems to be less tinny, maybe a new mic?
Awesome vid sciBRIGHT! :D

From memory it is the smallest muscle in your body isn't it? Insane you could have control of something so small, I can't even really move my ears
It's only one millimeter in length which is tiny, yes it is the smallest.
It would be cool to try this reflex out, see what it feels like :D
Adaptive cruise control has been the big thing with cars recently
finally a new video! This would be quite an annoying feature if it went off at the wrong time lol
Cars are pretty smart now, I would say it would only ever go off if a crash really is going to happen.

I'm in love with your voice :0
Pretty soothing aye
I agree, so soothing and deep. love the accent

if cars don't crash though there will be no need to get insurance meaning they will be out of business.

So if you play that sound loud enough you had in the video it will cause my ears to contract?
I did put reverb on the pink noise so it depends if that has any effect on whether or not it still triggers the reflex.
Didn't work for me haa
Still find it weird/amazing that other than this video I've never heard about this anywhere else before.
You would have thought it would be everywhere, it's cool tech
Makes me sad how small this channel is =/ such good content but you get so little views =/
164 views and it's been up for hours :|
And all the videos are good content too, and then you see people making crap clickbate stuff with millions of views :|
it is sad, because it makes me worried small creators like scibright who are actually good, will eventually stop
Best this car costs a limb!
well it is a mercedes!
Benz are so nice cars though
The e class starts at 50k ish the new a class has it too. Which is smaller has same tech but slower
