Talking about shipping, I hope Pimax can do something about their shipping fees (and delays): at more than $100 for a bare headset you'd expect it to be delivered by Fedex/DHL/UPS relatively fast, say a week and a half instead of more than a month. I ordered a 5K+ that long ago and it still didn't ship even though the status on the order say it was readily available in the "Shanghai finished products warehouse" all along. I fully understand it's a small company and all, but still. (I did open a ticket and they did answered quickly, yet the needle isn't moving)

But it's abundantly clear, especially from a divvy of comments criticizing Pimax for not only poor service but not providing backers with parts, that there's a problem with Pimax business practices. If I were confident about Pimax, I would seriously consider their product, but until I see a culture change in corporate customer service it's a hard pass from me, thank you very much.
Both eye tracking and hand tracking are made by 3rd party, and are about to be released in late February. Eye tracking will have DFR Dynamic Foveated Rendering support from launch, on driver level, which theoretically supports every single VR game.

DTECH Fiber Optic HDMI Cable is another Cable you can trust something ranging between 10ft @ 50bucks to 100ft @ 100bucks (which I am currently running my 4K monitors). Its very lightweight, thin and flexiable since its basicaly a fiber cable. Just a thought for you.
Just a little idea. Did you try hanging the cables on the ceiling? It's a great way to deal with cable and gives you a bit more freedom of movement, but not as freedom enough as Oculus Quest or the Vive headsets with the wireless adapter.

I work to much but normally these fiberoptic cables solve all problems on hdmi runs that go over 25ft. I've seen 100 plus foot runs that work without issue. I bought a while ago an 30m optical display-port and an 30m optical usb-3 from ali-express. The usb didnt work, but the displayport works fine on my 5k+, however i needed an adapter as the optical displayport dint come in male-to-female version and sometimes the adapter causes some pixel snow until I press the connectors together and it then disappears.
When are the newer Pimax headsets be available for purchase on amazon.com and amazon.com.au ? I've heard and read the horror stories about pimax customer service.

The included 8KX cable is 5m of course. Yes one BS is more than enough for simulators. You can use VR controllers in DCS, joysticks, gamepad or whatever :) lots of support!
Hello mate, I purchased this cable for my 8kx and it is not working, pimax detects the hmd, says it is connected via usb and display port, but the hmd is blank not showing in image... Do you know of any fixes?
Something I'm very confused by, the headsets are powerful and capable of this amazing resolution... But the top gfx card rtx2080ti is crippled by them. How are we supposed to get proper performance? Does VR utilize SLI/CROSSFIRE now?
No , you need atleast 3080 ti if you want to play in native mode in games like hellblade , Skyrim with mods, no man sky , onward on big maps , lone Echo , Robo recall , hellsplit Arena..... at 72hz at max ingame Settings without ingame resolution scaler , pi tool render 1.0 and a bit steam super sampling .
Yes it will play on a 2080ti. I have played the 8KX on 2080 and 2080ti. Different games may need different adjustments for max performance vs max visuals. It scores about three same on FPSVR the same as my 5K+ and 8K+. The reason is it wasn't needing 90hz and no supersampling needed. I would always recommend the best graphics card but nothing wrong with future proofing your hmd. You can always lower hz, resolution and fov to get better performance until you get a new card... but 2080ti is great to have (even though my wife didn't understand).
Hi, nice vid. People are reporting that this extension cable introduces snowing to both displays. Did anyone besides SweViver got this to work actually? I'm asking cause for me possibility to extend at least 2m is a deciding factor whether I buy 8KX. Thanks
i ordered those cables for an oculus rift S and all of them are complete trash, not working. the displayport cable is very ver ybad quality and hard to unplug from the graphic card. i do not recomend them at all !!
I have a question and this is IMPORTANT: I have done testing on extension cable before with HTC Vive back in the day and I notice that certain cables will give you artifacts and some don't....now of course it all work. But does YOUR testing show artifacts? You have to stand still and look at a scene and see if you can spot pixels popping out of no where, that's when you find out if there is artifacts.
Perhaps attach the cable above you to a flexible arm that can move around the room. The only thing you'd have to worry about then is turning around too many times.
Potential customer from the UK who has a Valve Index. If I ordered an 8KX with delux head strap directly from Pimax late January 2020, how long are we realistically talking about delivery? I wouldn't mind waiting for a couple of months, April latest, but only because Pimax charge your credit card immediately upon ordering rather than ship date and it's a lot of money with nothing to show for it. Also, are there any road shows planned or possible for the UK as I'm sure there are a lot of potential customers here who can't afford to be flying off to Las Vegas or New York. I watched all your videos running DCS and I'm quite sure the 8KX is a massive step up from everything else visually (FOV and clarity) however honestly, how much of a performance hit does DCS take with the 8KX, would I have to drastically reduce settings from current settings running Index on 5.1GHz 8700K, and 2080ti. would love to see some DCS/Sturmovik 8kx eyetrackthingy setup/gameplay content. if it is even possible without a 3080ti... :) also have you ever tried Richard Burns Rally in vr? it is still the best rally sim out there, and you should be able to get some good frames out of it!
Eye tracking with DFR support will be out late February. Did u check out my video from CES? :) Yep I did a video about RBR long ago, great rally sim, definitely smooth on 8KX, will give it a go again soon
@@SweViver yeah... i saw the CES videos, eyetracking is really getting my hopes up for VR :) If you do try RBR, i strongly suggest the Next Generation Physics mod v6 (NGP6) along with fixuup plugin, pacenotes plugin and RBRCit car instalation tool for easy car DL. the 1302 beetle is awesome for learning tracks... then the Opel Ascona 400 when you know where you going. :)
@@SweViver You might have eyetracking and DFR support in Feb but Il2 will probably not support it. Unfortunately we still do not have decent support in Il2 for FFR. It just leads to hangs and crashes in the sim which is unfortunate as it could really benefit from such tech. DCS - different story. Martin, thank you for your testing and letting us know of compatibility with extension cables..
Ah no surprise with Club3D … if one is into Home Theater setups, then one probably knows and owns some of the Club3D cables… honest pricing for high quality ! All my 4K cables are CLub3D like a 10m 4K120 optical, 200€ auch but it works flawlessly…
Headsets were all delivered except the just completed 8KX. It was the base station and controllers that got delayed (mostly due to HTC Valve breakup and controller redesign) and the 3rd party stretch goal items. I recommend getting Index base stations and controllers and whatever of the Pimax headsets that suits your needs and wallet.

(rumours of 80hz?) 3. Confirmed whether the wireless adapator will work with the upscale mode on 8KX 4. Through the lens comparison with valve index
1. Amazon date for 8KX is not confirmed yet, we will first ship from our Asian/EU/US stocks when available. Amazon most likely april/may. 2. 75Hz for native mode and 120Hz in upscale. Possibly 80Hz in native along the road, but not confirmed yet. 3. Not confirmed yet, but as long as the 8K+ works with wireless (which it will) its 99% probability that 8KX with upscaled mode will work. 8KX turns into a 8K+ with upscale mode. 4. More TTL coming!

@@colin8877 Yup! thanks mate. Pimax are really dropping the ball on not making sure that the Amazon UK store for Pimax is set up to rock and roll for a few headsets from Day 1 of launch. It just seems silly as it restricts their market presence in the EU badly when theres no need to. I get that they'll pick up a few people willing to buy from the site but long term, it really does cost the brand because although they probably don't see it as much, they are partly in a race against time for the Index to become re-stocked. No one is going to wait until September or whenever pimax can be bothered to get their act together for sorting out the amazon store and once a lot of users are sitting pretty with a brand new Index they might just hold off on the 8KX. Its sad because I know PLENTY of users on forums I frequent who are willing to buy the 8KX from their amazon store but Pimax always seem to see the small picture rather than the bigger one.
Hi, I don't know how are you testing but definitely your testing skills lack a lot. I bought 2x 3m cable you suggested. They both introduce snowing that is clearly visible especially in dark scenes. I've only lost money - thanks very much. I guess that once you become Pimax employee you have to adjust to their customer support & testing standards which are close to none :(
Du berättade dock aldrig att du arbetade för pimax när du körde jämföringen mellan reverb och pimax, och den jämförelsen var ju inte direkt vidare sanningsenlig ,. Har själv ett reverb set och kunde väldigt snabbt konstatera att här är det något som inte stämmer. De var rätt fult gjort kan jag tycka oavsett om nu pimax råkar vara ditt levebröd.
Jag har vid flertal tillfällen i mina videon sagt att jag jobbar för Pimax. Angående Reverb, de flesta som testat 8KX säger själva att det är slående hur mycket bättre den är jämfört med Reverb, speciellt när det gäller skärpa och storleken på bilden som är skarp och i fokus.
@@SweViver jag har förvisso enbart testat pimax 5k , och hävdar inte på några vis att reverb är helt klockren, den har sina brister, tracking som är helt bananas ibland och ett focusområde i linserna som känns bra litet, dock de bilderna som du hade tagit gav en väldigt felaktig bild av vad man kan förvänta sig av bildkvalitén i ett reverb.
@@knerkilajnen Fast det var inte riktigt en felaktig bild för han filmade från samma avstånd på bägge klippen. Det blir ju automatiskt klarare på pimaxen för den har större FOV. Om han hade filmat närmare HP reverb linserna så hade man ju sett pixlarna mycket mer vilket skulle även bli en felaktig bild. Tycker det var bra filmat.
You dont need, as 8KX has built in 3DOF but for 6DOF (be able to lean forward and move in space) you will need at least 1 basestation (1 is enough for simulators).

We are currently bundling Valve Index controllers as the Sword controllers are not ready (yes they have been delayed forever but we have met a lot of difficulties. Still in progress but I would strongly recommend u to go with Valve Index controllers for now).
You can't even try it? That's a lie. Of course you can use the Headset. In 3DOF Mode.. You can do racing sims with either wheel or controller(and Keyboard) and you can watch movies with it. The Controllers and Stations never had a promised shipping Date, right? You can buy used vive wands and a station and sell it later used for most likely the same price.
Taught i should tell you since Pimax has not made the change. When entering my address in Switzerland on the Pimax website I cannot select my region. The website only give us 5 regions 1 of them is not even the name of a region but a town. In Switzerland they are 26 Cantons Pimax has to sort this out. I will see if I can place my order but I might wait till they confirm my delivery will get to me and not someone else
Not at 4k per eye native. Only when we drop down to 1080 and upscale to 4k. There are engineers working everyday and if you know something they don't PLEASE share.
It's only possible with lower end resolutions/refresh rates. The Vive wireless adapter was already pushing the tech as far as it can go, and the tech is still there to this day, it hasn't improved much if at all.

It's absurd how short the Pimax 8KX cord is. *DO NOT BUY THIS HEADSET!* I've spent hundreds on different goddamn cables to get this cheaply made VR set to work, and to no avail. I also suspect the poorly protected wires have already broken on the headset. Pimax is a bottom tier company. VR in general is far too expensive right now

Hello mate, I purchased this cable for my 8kx and it is not working, pimax detects the hmd, says it is connected via usb and display port, but the hmd is blank not showing in image... Do you know of any fixes?

Something I'm very confused by, the headsets are powerful and capable of this amazing resolution... But the top gfx card rtx2080ti is crippled by them. How are we supposed to get proper performance? Does VR utilize SLI/CROSSFIRE now?

No , you need atleast 3080 ti if you want to play in native mode in games like hellblade , Skyrim with mods, no man sky , onward on big maps , lone Echo , Robo recall , hellsplit Arena..... at 72hz at max ingame Settings without ingame resolution scaler , pi tool render 1.0 and a bit steam super sampling .
Yes it will play on a 2080ti. I have played the 8KX on 2080 and 2080ti. Different games may need different adjustments for max performance vs max visuals. It scores about three same on FPSVR the same as my 5K+ and 8K+. The reason is it wasn't needing 90hz and no supersampling needed. I would always recommend the best graphics card but nothing wrong with future proofing your hmd. You can always lower hz, resolution and fov to get better performance until you get a new card... but 2080ti is great to have (even though my wife didn't understand).

i ordered those cables for an oculus rift S and all of them are complete trash, not working. the displayport cable is very ver ybad quality and hard to unplug from the graphic card. i do not recomend them at all !!
I have a question and this is IMPORTANT:
I have done testing on extension cable before with HTC Vive back in the day and I notice that certain cables will give you artifacts and some don't....now of course it all work. But does YOUR testing show artifacts? You have to stand still and look at a scene and see if you can spot pixels popping out of no where, that's when you find out if there is artifacts.
Perhaps attach the cable above you to a flexible arm that can move around the room. The only thing you'd have to worry about then is turning around too many times.
I purchased the cables (using your link) in hopes I have a large room one day just four VR and the overhead cable system.

Potential customer from the UK who has a Valve Index. If I ordered an 8KX with delux head strap directly from Pimax late January 2020, how long are we realistically talking about delivery? I wouldn't mind waiting for a couple of months, April latest, but only because Pimax charge your credit card immediately upon ordering rather than ship date and it's a lot of money with nothing to show for it. Also, are there any road shows planned or possible for the UK as I'm sure there are a lot of potential customers here who can't afford to be flying off to Las Vegas or New York. I watched all your videos running DCS and I'm quite sure the 8KX is a massive step up from everything else visually (FOV and clarity) however honestly, how much of a performance hit does DCS take with the 8KX, would I have to drastically reduce settings from current settings running Index on 5.1GHz 8700K, and 2080ti. Thanks and keep up the good work.

Yep I did a video about RBR long ago, great rally sim, definitely smooth on 8KX, will give it a go again soon

If you do try RBR, i strongly suggest the Next Generation Physics mod v6 (NGP6)
along with fixuup plugin, pacenotes plugin and RBRCit car instalation tool for easy car DL.
the 1302 beetle is awesome for learning tracks... then the Opel Ascona 400 when you know where you going. :)
@@SweViver You might have eyetracking and DFR support in Feb but Il2 will probably not support it. Unfortunately we still do not have decent support in Il2 for FFR. It just leads to hangs and crashes in the sim which is unfortunate as it could really benefit from such tech.

I have such a hard time trusting anything from Pimax when all you hear people not getting their products shipped.
Headsets were all delivered except the just completed 8KX. It was the base station and controllers that got delayed (mostly due to HTC Valve breakup and controller redesign) and the 3rd party stretch goal items. I recommend getting Index base stations and controllers and whatever of the Pimax headsets that suits your needs and wallet.
hey sweviver, i was one of the first who pre-ordered the pimax 5k plus and i got it. i want to upgrade to pimax 8kx, can i do that. also when i ordered the 5kplus, i odered the hand tracking module tgat i didnt recieve yet. can i uae that as credit toword the 8kx or an eye tracking module. thanks in advance

Hi Sweviver before looking at extension cables can we please have:
1. Date for when headset will be available on Amazon UK
2. An update on what the refresh rate will be on release? (rumours of 80hz?)
3. Confirmed whether the wireless adapator will work with the upscale mode on 8KX
4. Through the lens comparison with valve index
1. Amazon date for 8KX is not confirmed yet, we will first ship from our Asian/EU/US stocks when available. Amazon most likely april/may.
2. 75Hz for native mode and 120Hz in upscale. Possibly 80Hz in native along the road, but not confirmed yet.
3. Not confirmed yet, but as long as the 8K+ works with wireless (which it will) its 99% probability that 8KX with upscaled mode will work. 8KX turns into a 8K+ with upscale mode.
4. More TTL coming!

@@colin8877 Yup! thanks mate. Pimax are really dropping the ball on not making sure that the Amazon UK store for Pimax is set up to rock and roll for a few headsets from Day 1 of launch. It just seems silly as it restricts their market presence in the EU badly when theres no need to.
I get that they'll pick up a few people willing to buy from the site but long term, it really does cost the brand because although they probably don't see it as much, they are partly in a race against time for the Index to become re-stocked. No one is going to wait until September or whenever pimax can be bothered to get their act together for sorting out the amazon store and once a lot of users are sitting pretty with a brand new Index they might just hold off on the 8KX.
Its sad because I know PLENTY of users on forums I frequent who are willing to buy the 8KX from their amazon store but Pimax always seem to see the small picture rather than the bigger one.

Hi, I don't know how are you testing but definitely your testing skills lack a lot.
I bought 2x 3m cable you suggested. They both introduce snowing that is clearly visible especially in dark scenes.
I've only lost money - thanks very much.
I guess that once you become Pimax employee you have to adjust to their customer support & testing standards which are close to none :(

Du berättade dock aldrig att du arbetade för pimax när du körde jämföringen mellan reverb och pimax, och den jämförelsen var ju inte direkt vidare sanningsenlig ,. Har själv ett reverb set och kunde väldigt snabbt konstatera att här är det något som inte stämmer. De var rätt fult gjort kan jag tycka oavsett om nu pimax råkar vara ditt levebröd.
Jag har vid flertal tillfällen i mina videon sagt att jag jobbar för Pimax. Angående Reverb, de flesta som testat 8KX säger själva att det är slående hur mycket bättre den är jämfört med Reverb, speciellt när det gäller skärpa och storleken på bilden som är skarp och i fokus.
@@SweViver jag har förvisso enbart testat pimax 5k , och hävdar inte på några vis att reverb är helt klockren, den har sina brister, tracking som är helt bananas ibland och ett focusområde i linserna som känns bra litet, dock de bilderna som du hade tagit gav en väldigt felaktig bild av vad man kan förvänta sig av bildkvalitén i ett reverb.
@@knerkilajnen Fast det var inte riktigt en felaktig bild för han filmade från samma avstånd på bägge klippen. Det blir ju automatiskt klarare på pimaxen för den har större FOV. Om han hade filmat närmare HP reverb linserna så hade man ju sett pixlarna mycket mer vilket skulle även bli en felaktig bild. Tycker det var bra filmat.

do i need base stations when i only do racing games?
You dont need, as 8KX has built in 3DOF but for 6DOF (be able to lean forward and move in space) you will need at least 1 basestation (1 is enough for simulators).

We are currently bundling Valve Index controllers as the Sword controllers are not ready (yes they have been delayed forever but we have met a lot of difficulties. Still in progress but I would strongly recommend u to go with Valve Index controllers for now).
You can't even try it? That's a lie. Of course you can use the Headset. In 3DOF Mode.. You can do racing sims with either wheel or controller(and Keyboard) and you can watch movies with it.
The Controllers and Stations never had a promised shipping Date, right?
You can buy used vive wands and a station and sell it later used for most likely the same price.
You can switch to the Index controllers and base station.
Taught i should tell you since Pimax has not made the change. When entering my address in Switzerland on the Pimax website I cannot select my region. The website only give us 5 regions 1 of them is not even the name of a region but a town. In Switzerland they are 26 Cantons Pimax has to sort this out. I will see if I can place my order but I might wait till they confirm my delivery will get to me and not someone else

Not at 4k per eye native. Only when we drop down to 1080 and upscale to 4k. There are engineers working everyday and if you know something they don't PLEASE share.
It's only possible with lower end resolutions/refresh rates. The Vive wireless adapter was already pushing the tech as far as it can go, and the tech is still there to this day, it hasn't improved much if at all.

It's absurd how short the Pimax 8KX cord is. *DO NOT BUY THIS HEADSET!* I've spent hundreds on different goddamn cables to get this cheaply made VR set to work, and to no avail. I also suspect the poorly protected wires have already broken on the headset. Pimax is a bottom tier company. VR in general is far too expensive right now
