This is such a fun discovery. Remnant 2's melee mechanics just have a bunch of fun and weird tech that just adds to experience. I am so ready to place the shovel in one of my builds and try this out.
I certainly enjoyed using it during my testing for the unique play style it provided. Very curious to see how other players try to make it work for their builds.
I remember in remnant from the ashes when melee wasn’t viable at all. The changes they made in this one are perfect. Viable and possibly very powerful, but not enough to take away from the necessity of the guns.
Just had to double check and you are absolutely correct. I had assumed it worked like the Quilted Heart, which does properly negate the health cost, but in fact the effects are different. The Heart 'Negates stamina drain', while the other provides 'Infinite Stamina', which are not the same thing. Good job catching that. I will be more careful about avoiding such mistakes in future.
@@Draevin-E-Arach I think the intention is for them to work the same way since the ring does prevent effects that trigger on stamina usage, my guess is that in the code the cost gets replaced with hp before the ring reduces (the already 0) stamina cost to 0, while the heart effect does it beforehand. On that note I actually didn't know the heart does work, so now I wonder if there is some equip ordering that could be done similar to the red ring of death?
Well also the nightmare boss in losom that provide the claws have special neutral doge. Normaly basic roll in super heavy class does flop and neutral do have slow recovery but with these claws you can still wear heavy sets and got fast neutrual doge 😮 its ingame from start to this point
Def trying this soon! I am currently Speedrunning some items as im trying to 100% the game, this looks amazing. Even tho with a max speed build you'd still be faster
Tragic gives zero fucks about the game anymore tbh, I don’t think they are even going to follow through on the class reworks. At least he’s buffing base stuff
Assuming you mean "did I have a prism with evade speed and distance leveled on it?", the answer is no. That is why I never said 'maxed evade speed/distance'. Reason I didn't use them was simply because I didn't have a prism with them, and I also felt it would be more appropriate to show something that everyone could use with relative ease. I'm sure that going to the maximum of both stats (65% distance, ~80% speed) would make the technique faster, though at that amount it might become too difficult to use properly.
I don't understand what I'm doing wrong, I am running dark omen, the shovel, medic/warden, Bisected, disaster converter, archers crest and Feastmasters signit currently, using sacred lakewater, numbing agent and snake oil. I can get the skip like 1/10 times I try, the rest of the time I wind up stepping and swinging the shovel without stepping again right away. . However I threw on resin loop and was able to do it every single time. I'm on ps5 btw since it's probably important info. Is there a certain mutator I need to be running on the shovel to make it work like sealed resin loop?
No specific mutator is required to make it work and nothing in your item lists stands out as messing with the timings. I checked if increasing melee speed would affect the timing such as by equipping the Edgelord mutator, but it didn't seem to have an impact. Evade speed WILL affect the timings by a slight amount from those shown in how often you should be pressing them, but the actual method stays the same. I have no idea if Dark Omen instead of Ring of Omens would make a difference, I'd imagine they are the same but haven't been able to test it. I'm on PC, but platform should also not have an effect unless your framerate tends to fluctuate a lot. What I found helped me get the timing was to start by holding down the melee button for a slightly longer duration, which means you go slower but are more consistent. Once you've got a feel for that timing, try to practice going faster until you get a timing that feels consistent for you. Hope this helps.
I believe gunfire fully knew it existed and that they just kept it in specifically for players like you. Thank you.
Though most likely it was a genuine oversight, I can 100% see them doing that just for a laugh.
Judging by the amount of bugs in rem 1 & 2 i wouldnt bet on them having intended for something like this.
Bro really dug into it.
I like your funny words magic man
Not exactly what I was going for, but I'll take it.
@@Draevin-E-Arach just wanted to comment something for the almighty algortihm. And me not being a speedrunner makes this the perfect meme to use. ^^

Good info, neat find, and presented with little fluff and reinforced with data. I look forward to what else you have to offer!
That’s hype I love shovel so much I’m definitely going to use this

In-depth analysis, frame comparison, button press timing - sign me in! Subscribed and wish proper growth=) Much appreciated.

**coughHavokFormcough**
Melee was viable in the 1st game. idk if you didn't try hard enough. It's not a big deal just wanted to say it definitely was viable
Bloodhound step is so strong it transcended soulslike games lol
I'm fairly certain that the bisected ring doesn't prevent hp consumption

So let's go. Siri, play Strike the Earth! (Plains of Passage) - Shovel Knight [OST] on max volume now
Bro i was staring at the shovel when i popped up n had a whole optical illusion when u rotated it 🤣 🤣 🤣 0:40
Glad im not the only one, but now that iv seen through it no matter how many time i rewatch it, i cant replicate the way i first saw it

The steadfast modifier for melee would probably work really well with this!
Amazing, shovel step is born !

Definitely keep it in the game, and definitely call it a tech and not a bug/glitch
2:33 bisected ring does not negates the hp cost of misty-step-dodges
... how... many... months? (I'm losing my mind)
This is nuts.
Shovel based wave dashing god I love video games
IT'S SHOVELING TIME!
even if I max IQ trait points at 10 I am too dull for this
It's definitely an exploit, but I doubt Gunfire care. Stuff like reload cancelling has been in the game since release.

did you try shovel step with a evade / dodge crystal set up?

Looks busted until you blind and die to a grunt with a gun you didn't see 20 meters away
Technique, because Gunfire devs nerf everything into the ground and it'd be a shame if they nerfed this too.

very cool.
I tried it n then i tried it with the krell axe n the axe seemed a bit faster
On n added note i just tried again n yeah the axe makes it feel like im in havok form
Had a brief look and there's definitely something interesting going on here! Might be worth making a video on it. Going to go do some more research.
Yes leave it in the game. I would consider it a technique
Technique
I expected this video to be total clickbait nonsense... pleasantly surprised, useless to me, but interesting nonetheless
YOOOOOOOO
You shouldnt have revealed that.... it will soon get patched now.
Where/how do you get it?
Buy it from the guy that sells guns in ward 13
They always nerf everything that gives players the slightest adventage.
This more than likely will never be nerfed.
Yawn. Dead game.
