Saw this guy live twice in the early 1980's, and he and his band played a killer live show both times. Saw him at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Ky. as the opening act for Journey on their Escape tour in 1981, and then saw him again in 1984 at an outdoor amphitheater in a little town called Scott Lake, N.C., not far from where I was stationed at Ft.Bragg, N.C. That was a multi-band festival that had Nantucket, Sidewinder, Greg Kihn Band, Reo Speedwagon, and Cheap Trick.
@GBeret83 I caught Lynyrd Skynyrd at an outdoor concert at Ft. Bragg about '93 or '94. Tickets were $5. It was a great concert. A couple of smaller bands opened that I wasn't familiar with, but Skynyrd was phenomenal, even though it wasn't the original lineup.
Didn't he do this one song about "girls" in the 80s, like 1984? It was all over the radio during that summer. It had a line in it about girls being "soft and warm when you hug them." Anybody remember that tune? I want it for my collection...
