I got into NBs last year. Started with the classic grey 992 and I have been hooked since. I love the 997 and I hope they are brought back soon so I can get a pair! Also, gotta shout you out, Sean. My go-to person for anything NB related!

That NYC pair at the number 11 spot isn’t based on the Statue of Liberty. It’s based on Tiffany and Co box and a medal that they made for the city of NYC. Deon Point talked about the inspiration on an episode of The Sneak Diss Podcast.

The Concept and Fieg collabs are essentially what got me into sneakers. At the time they seemed so expensive, but I probably should’ve just bit the bullet considering what they go for now.

Nice video. Since resale prices have been going down more and more, I went back and got the Bodega "Here to stay" 990V3 for a decent price.
A lot of the shoes came before I could afford them but some of my favorites grail collabs are the Invincible 1400 "brogues", Kawasaki 993 "Ninja", Concepts 999 "Kennedy/Hyannis", Concepts 998 "Grand Tourer", Bodega 577 "HYPRCAT", and the Sneaker Freaker 997.5 "Tassie Tiger". Provider 1500s gets special mentions for being the grail of grails.

I remember hearing about the re-release of the Kennedys, Kith and even Staple's Pigeon collabs, but never really paid much attention to them. For me, it was the Bodega No Days Off where I started to really notice NB. That's probably far too "new school" though.

My grail is the NB 999 x Mita Sneakers “Mouse”. Part of the Feral Creation Collection from back in 2009. I doubt they would retro it but it would be awesome!

The Kennedys aka Hyannis are my GOAT NB pair. Frank the Butcher killed that. My first NB “love” was the Nice Kicks 1500. The rest is history lol. I’ve been a runner head since. I’m still on the hunt for the c-notes. Love the love shown towards NB lately. It might be recent “hype” but NB has been a staple in streetwear culture and I’m just glad people are starting to give props where props is due.

I remember stumbling across your video on the New Balance 247 Tokyo Rats way back in 2017 after seeing someone wearing it on feet and doing some research on the pair. Too bad the 247 silhouette has come and gone now.

I miss the 997, 998 and 999s so much. They were the OG runner wave before shoes like the ultraboosts and Yeezy’s took over. Don’t get me wrong, I love seeing the 990s getting love right now but getting some new 997 colorways would be amazing

The "NYC" pair isn't inspired by the Statue of Liberty - it's inspired by Tiffany and Co. because Tiffany in the early 1900s used to make special medals given to NY police officers (Medal of Valour I believe). On those medals were the letters 'NY" in the style we now know as the Yankees Logo, which is where the Yankees got it from. So the NYC 997s are Tiffany Blue to pay homage to the fact that it was Tiffany's police medals that first created the "NY" Yankee logo by proxy. Old school NB head fact of the day!

Idk if you’ve seen them but staple actually did a colab with new balance on the 574 way back. There’s a few pair in eBay if you wanna check it out

2014-2016 era 996, 997 and 998 were some of the best...sad they aren't as released any more
wonder why collabs have shifted away from the 997/998/999 to 2002r/990-992 recently. The layering of the 998s allows for so much creativity!
