@@justsayin7865 for comfort, I’m actually gonna go out of left field and say the pair I just grabbed; the Fresh Foam x Parks Project x Hierro v7’s are amazingly comfortable, especially for their price point, among the classic models, I’d have to say 993’s and v5/6’s are my preferred comfort pairs when I need something specific. Appreciate the support! 🫡

Much appreciated! I’m sorry I can’t do a better quality or consistency atm but I really am grateful for people’s kind words! For 998 I’ve always found they run a bit longer than 990 series, I’m a true 10.5 but I can fit many 10’s more so than 11’s if that makes sense. I’d try a half size down to start with if you’re talking DS. Cheers and thanks for checking the channel out, tell any NB friends! (Or sneaker friends in general!) 🫡
I want to note that the 998 model does not always have the same pad. In my case, 998 is size 10 US.
And here is 998 JC2, collaboration with J. Crew, " Green Back " 10. 5 US. It is in this version that 10 are small. Sincerely from Moscow - Russia!!
Can you do a comparison video of the older 998s vs the newer ones? I have the Grey Day Core ones just released and I personally hate the thinner midsole. Part of what drew me to the 998 was the block shape that was still sleek as a runner.
The Abzorb is definitely softer, which is nice, but with a thinner midsole you get less foam and feel closer to the ground IMO.
Awesome comment, and yes! The video I want to do/am still working on is more of an on foot/comparison test run thingy lol as I try to make the page look and sound slicker. For me, the core 998’s are a bit like the ‘86 Air Max 1’s that recently dropped in that, they are going back to a retro design feature or language that is as much for nostalgia sake as it is functionality. The ‘normal’ ALD Grey Day 998’s are much more comfortable imo, love their construction; something about the shape of these core 998’s on my skinny legs and ankles made me like them a ton. More to come from a edit/production/review point very soon! 🫡
@@notitleproductions For sure, and thanks for the reply! It’s funny you say that about the Air Max 1, I’ve always said the 998 is the New Balance “Air Max 1”. I do appreciate the attempt for original shape and tech from companies, I personally feel like it’s NB’s way of saving costs (less foam, less material, etc) and using “re-craft” as the reasoning.
When I compare my older 998s vs this one, everything feels slightly cheaper, less midsole, etc. Ironically, this is the one time I wish the company hadn’t done original shape. I am probably a minority compared to the people who prefer the slimmer shape, but I’m glad I have some older ones so I can have both 😎
@@jrdatrackstar see, this is why I love doing this content and this brand/the sneaker game as a whole when I get to talk shop with an OG!Absolutely, the “core” or “throwback” motif is really a marketing gimmick to expand the model range for their version of “Air Max Day” for sure, more pairs isn’t really a bad thing when it comes to 998’s for me since 1’s and 90’s were by far my favorite air max’s when I collected like that years ago, and 998’s are second only to the 990 family for me. And re. comparisons to the older construction, it’s so true that you look at the same design from 10-20 years ago and even a company built on quality materials and construction like NB STILL sees a ‘cheapening’ of the production so to speak. Really appreciate the dialogue! And the support, plenty more coming along! 🫡
@@notitleproductions. That makes sense and appreciate your knowledge, I’m somewhat newer to NB (had a pair of 574s in high school and just got back to them about 3 years ago). The 998 is personally what got me interested beyond the “basic” models so to have even any 998s returning is better than nothing for sure!

I love the first pair. Waiting to get the Lapis in hand before I make a final choice but from Welty’s posts and the pod last week, I’d have to shade the the first pair just cuz I love that green contrast so much on the v6. Gonna have a few new v6’s coming soon. 🫡
Hi! Is it interesting to know your point of view regarding the entire 990 line? How do you arrange them in the hierarchy? This refers to the quality of operation. My top 5 : 1) 998, 2)997.5, (MiUSA, abzorb) 3)992, 4) 990 V4 , 5)990V3 (models manufactured after 2014).Actually, I would put the 990V2 on the 5th place in terms of reliability, but over time, the white midsole in the heel area begins to turn yellow. Thank you for responding! NB is very popular in Russia. What you can see on people's feet are mostly Asian-made models: 574,327,997H,530, 550. Personally, I love the 900 series, made in the USA.
I don't collect them, I exploit them.
Except 997
The model is beautiful, but not comfortable for me. I feel like I'm wearing skates or ski boots in them.😊Well, 999 is not my option. The model for my leg is narrow and stabilization is lacking in the back. And in general, there are few of them. I don't know why NB rarely releases them. Thank you for your creativity. The colorways are amazing. Beautiful. Why doesn't New Balance make these colors for women? The men sneakers have the best colors.
One of Concepts best imo. As for the female vs. Male colorways, I agree that as far as NB is concerned, they don’t produce as many female exclusive colors as Nike or Adidas. I have seen a few ladies only pairs that I’d love to find a size 12+ in because of the color lol I’ve got a pair actually that I’ll try to show in the next collection video that’s a woman’s only colorway considered a legendary pair.
