They really are! They have been really easy to use. Right now we probably have around 15-20 of them holding stuff up! I will probably save produce bags this winter and use them next season. We will see!
Great tips as always Brandon and for cheap. I use those pantyhose socks(?) 😅Just plop the smaller melon in them and then double tie them to the trellis. Works like a charm. Take care.
I used some old netting to create a hammock and have my only spaghetti squash growing vertically. I don't think my tiny melon was fertilized but wow 😮😮 that looks amazing. This is my first time growing anything past zucchini. So far my pumpkin is just starting to grow and my watermelon is probably going to wither up but my spaghetti squash in my hammock should be turning yellow soon.
Well, I'm happy you at least have one! That is better than none, right?! The plants that had the lemon drop melons died overnight. I left the melons there to hopefully ripen up on what's left of the vine, but something happened that they didn't like! Next year is a new year though! I had spaghetti squash last night from one of our plants, it was great!
@@WhitepepperFarmshomestead I was always intimidated by growing corn, large squashes etc. But I now realize it's not as scary as I thought it was. And I love spaghetti squash. I look forward to trying again next year.
It really isn’t! And realistically.. at the end of the day we live in a time that we don’t HAVE to rely on the food of a few plants. So if it doesn’t work out the first few seasons we can learn from our mistakes and try again next year. I made a lot of mistakes this year that I will be working on next year, and it will be the same every year. It’s a constant learning cycle!
I got & used those exact net hammocks w the crap string.. don’t get them! They’re junk!! They look fine at first but when ur melons get big, the little yellow nylon strings break and we lost a big melon that was close to being ready.. it snapped and fell off the vine when the hammock failed.. 😢it was upsetting. Hate melon loss for no reason! Just wanted to share!! I’m actually going out to my garden now to reinforce those crap hammocks w old pillow cases to diy my own better hammocks.. don’t want no more breaking..
I see ur trying zip ties.. I thought of that but the red nylon was ripping too when pressure was applied on the heavy melons.. the smal ones worked no prob.. it’s when they get bigger.. hope u have better luck but they are not strong
@@tiffanysmith82.i appreciate your comments. I’m only using them for melons under 6 lbs, so sounds like I should be good. For big watermelons I’m putting them in hammocks similar to a basketball net material. ❤
Those things are so cool, reusing those produce bags is such a smart idea!

awesome ideas !!
Thank you!
Great tips! Will have to go watch some of your other videos too, Heather at Sage & Stone sent us over to look at your melon support system! 💚
That was very kind of her! She watches and leaves awesome comments on my videos and I definitely appreciate her!
You can also use potato sacks as support.

How do you preserve melons.
Normally if we don’t eat them quickly we will vacuum seal and freeze them!
Thanks for your help
@@WhitepepperFarmshomesteadu do that with fresh melon? Do u freeze whole melons? Plz share more on freezing melon! ❤
