Thanks, Nate. Any gentle back or core exercises or stretches are welcome. I'm an old guy who ran track in high school and college, then got a herniated disc. I've continued to run and do tris for 30 years, but without consistently maintaining a strong and flexible core, injuries have popped up.
TheGreen0arrow for me, there was a definite difference from when I started. I still get back pain once in a while but it’s not as bad and it won’t start up till the very end of my run. Other than that I’d recommend giving it a try.
Brady Hawkins in my case I started noticing results after a few runs. Just start off with light jogs with some walking mixed in and build up to longer runs and the pain should lessen as you go.
I've been battling with this problem for a while and these exercises do help a lot. Just to share, the final piece of the puzzle was strengthening my pelvic floor. The inclusion of exercises for that has yielded great results also.
great to hear Mikie! Yes pelvic stability is a really important factor. Have you seen any of our breathing videos? Check out this one: ua-cam.com/video/3oqAV1xZO9I/v-deo.html
same position rn went from 3 goals per game to bein put in defense and being the reason we lose bc of this pain and they never understood the back pain
Has anyone been running for a bit and now has a really stiff lower back? I was running for 7 weeks and my lower back is really stiff and strained. Can feel it in my glutes too
Luke same. I’ve been running daily for 3 weeks and the other day I was running and my lower back started hurting so bad. Next morning my glutes and lower back were sore. I think I need to take a week off
@@rollsroycegotti9587 I'm going to physio as mine isn't getting better. I feel like there should be more warnings when it comes to lower back injured and running
@@paulsamuel3226 i stopped running. The physio said it was probably because my glutes and hamstrings werent strong enough to support my upper body so it puts extra pressure on the lower back. I juts think some peoples bodies are not designed for running. I think cycling or walking are nicer on the joints
New runner. Enjoyed 10K 6days a week for 3 weeks .....until I hit 😪 back pain. Help pls. I will follow the back exercises shown. BTW, the link to free videos is bad. Will a back brace prevent me from getting to bad running form? After healing my back, I want to go back safely into running again. Thanks. Love your videos. You are my running coach 😆

anyone got some results with this ? I’m trying to resolve some tension/soreness around my middle back/spine which comes up especially after a run when I cool down
Hi nate, thanks for the video. I have developed, lower back pain 2 weeks before a hill marathon. Will i recover from this pain in next 10 days? Will i be able to participate in the Hill half marathon. I understand the reason is tight hip flexors, lac of core exercises, desk job for 9 hrs. At this moment my concern is recovery from this pain asap. Should I stop running / long-walks completely till pain is gone?
Hey there! Try and adjust your movement before stopping altogether. Maybe shorten your last few runs and just focus on form, breathing, a controlled core, and lots of mobility work before and after. Maybe also see if you can have a massage therapist work on releasing your psoas a little too? The handle of a kettlebell will help too.
Check yourself in the mirror and make sure you're not twisting your upper body while running. Also make sure you are bracing your stomach while running. In order to keep your body in a straight line while running, we must brace our midline

So what about the back of the butt/glute? Pain from back of hip thru glute...sciatic nerve?
Yes these could all be connected. We go more in depth here: ua-cam.com/video/24wYmdlzNAk/v-deo.html
