I kind of agree. Most of the newer videos I have seen of James and band playing this song it is a good bit slower than the original. Some artists change up their hits so maybe there is a reason. I do like it faster though.
@@doc196769 The drummer is Steve Gadd, who has no problem keeping time (that's why he's played with just about every great pop/jazz/funk/soul/fusion/latin/world/r&b musician one can think of). I think the reason this performance is slower is because of the horn section. Adding a horn section to a band changes a lot of things in terms of the performance. The bigger the band, the harder it is to keep the train all in one piece. They could have performed this song faster, but that may have required a conductor for the band to really pull it off.
