    Best review by far - concise, key points, fair criticisms and good overall endorsement - will probably buy off the strength of this video. Thanks.

    Hey Ben, thanks for this concise and super-helpful video. Tripod heads are exceptionally difficult to evaluate by just looking at specs and marketing material, but this video demonstrates the MHXPRO-3WG in action, shows its strengths and weaknesses, and even offers a work-around for its asymmetric adjustment range. I already have the absolutely awesome Manfrotto MHXPRO-BHQ2 ball head, but when frequent fine adjustments (e.g. for macro or night-sky photography) are required, messing with the locks and friction control soon becomes rather annoying. Adding the MHXPRO-3WG to my kit is going to make me one very, very happy camper, especially when the solar eclipse occurs in August 2017. Since I've already gone to the RC2 quick-release system long ago, the 3WG is going to fit seamlessly. Thanks again for an exceptionally useful video.

    WOW. I think that's the one. I used to use a ball head but found it a bit too erratic. Anyway, thanks for the demo.

    410 Junior or MHXpro 3WG? What is the best choice?

    • @AniruddhKothari
      @AniruddhKothari 3 роки тому

      My question as well. I think you end up paying a little more for this one over the 410 Junior and the Xpro has these plastic kinda release handles whereas the Junior has knobs

    In another review it was shown that when positioned, it wiggles a lot and the camera shakes, if you touch it, so the Gears do not hold particularly stiff the whole head. Do you have this issue?

    Thank you for the review. Could you tell me in your opinion - will this work with Maksutov 127mm telescope in planets observations? I would use about 130x magnification and I would like to have pretty smooth moves. Best regards.

    Seen another video showing it is a bit wobbly, is that a concern you think?

    • @AuthenTech
      @AuthenTech  8 років тому +1

      Mine isn't wobbly at all, so maybe that persons was defective? Once you dial it in, balance and how you want it angled, it doesn't budge at all.

    Anyone tried this head for video? I like how compact it is and how it can do more angles than a regular fluid head, but wondering about the smoothness for videography.

    Anyone know how to get the damn thing off the tripod?!
    One of my springs broke and I can't get it off the tripod to throw on my backup head

    I tried one out today, i used the standard manfrotto base plate, which was all ready on my camera. It did not lock & the camera fell to the floor smashing my lens. So i unscrewed the base plate from my camera & tried to fit it to the geared head & it did not lock in, please check yr base plate to be sure it locks into place.

    I've seen in another review that the head easily starts wobbling when there is a bit of wind making it useless for a tripod. What is your experience with it?

    • @flclarkinc
      @flclarkinc 5 років тому +3

      It's very wobbly. A ton of play in it. Wind does blow it. It's very poorly built. It's a POS really. Mine got stuck on my tripod. Was trying to remove to return. It locks when you're tightening it on your tripod but it just slips and spins around it's axis when you're removing it. There isn't anything to grip vice grips or any tool onto in order to remove it. I had to jam things into the handle which caused back pressure that allow me to turn it backwards without it just clicking back. I finally got it off but it's the worst head I've ever seen. Returning it.

      @@flclarkinc exact same happened with mine when I tried to remove it to put on to another tripod. Ended up spraying WD40 in-between the red band & the tripod, took about 30 mins to get it of Gerrrrr

    Hi... Excellent Review... I´ve got this head too, and it´s my favorite far away... it´s a one way road this head (so much better than the ball head)... buy I´ve a little problem... recently I bought a fluid head for video, and I can't take out of the tripod this head... it will be about to unscrew the head? because mine´s only keeps rolling and roling against the clock... do you have any idea of how to take it away? Thank you very much!!!

  • @emwede63

    I just have to repeat myself (look at my amazon review) after appreciating the design and the ease of use at first sight, I came to a no-go for this stuff realy quick. The camera position is far away from the z-axis (vertical axis) of the gear-head, which makes it sort of useless in panoramic-photography. You'll never find the nodal point of your lens if you use this gearhead, caus it rotates somewhere in space but no around a point you may fix as nodal point. So this must be build by engineers beeing very pround of their design language but having never tried to shoot a panoramic picture at all - I asume.

      @@stainless0521 A) Panoramic is not exclusive to video, which is basic knowledge. B) If you've ever shot video then you'd know what types of heads are best for video. Shouldn't need to mention the obvious.
