The chicken is Bo at his finest imo. In the end I don't know whether It's all a metaphor for something greater, or literally just about a chicken. Maybe both. Should I cry? Should I laugh? I think that is Bo's real superpower.
Of course it's a metaphor for a house wife.
It's simply an earnest attempt to answer why it crossed the road
Very well said
It's both. It's both a deeper metaphor and a song about why the chicken crossed the road. You should both cry and laugh. His ability to provoke both at once truly is his super power. Again, well said.
@@elsieinthevoid that said. he is also a professional shitposter before shitpost were even a thing
"The Chicken" is such a gut wrenching song but beautifully so. I love how the ending could mean two things: either that we should believe the chicken didn't die and made it to the other side of the road, or that she did die and we should believe that she made it to "the other side" being heaven. It's a masterfully written song and I believe it's one of Bo's best. I will never hear the "why did the chicken cross the road?" joke the same way again. The chicken did it to get to the other side. Yes, the chicken crossed the road to follow her dreams, and she did make it to the other side. But which other side? Genius.
in the album version of the song you can hear a car approaching a chicken at the end before bo saying thank you, so i think she did die
@@thebestplays3413 nope, that just literally let us in the same place at the video song, since the car approaching to her was also already stated
The melody for "The Chicken" is so damn beautiful. I can't believe Bo made me tear up over a "chicken crosses the road" joke. Maybe I just have some relatable stuff going on there idk lol.
When it first started i thought it was gonna be a story about a wife to a soldier with PTSD
1985 and microwave popcorn are also great new songs by Bo
Yes! And although there are tiny snippets of them in the Outtakes the full songs are audio only, so you could easily do a reaction to them either before or after you watch the full Outtakes
This might be the only reaction I've seen where there is smiling throughout "The Chicken". I know we think of Bo as always showing some comedy in his songs, but I think this one is different
I think its because they weren't prepared. They listened to his more comedic song first so they were more in the comedy mentality when they clicked on this song on a whim. I'm sure if they had allowed themselves to process and settle they would've taken it more seriously.
@@RandomChannel68 That's probably fair. He usually starts it off funny until dropping the truth bombs. Bo says during live performances of "Nerds" that it's a serious song
People overanalyze it
I just LOVE your reaction when he said the chicken wakes up to her husband's screams. First shock and horror, then laughing as you realize the joke. It was so perfect, I watched that bit 3 times.
The moment when you find out you were dealing with personal stress you didn't know about hahah. I clicked this reaction of ya'lls in my recommended and had a legit cry to the "The Chicken". I don't normally cry at all. I had never heard it, I don't know wtf happened while listening to it but I feel better now. Wow that song was beautiful. Awesome reaction!
"I don't care, this made me happy" is my entire philosophy whilst watching Bo Burnham.
🤣🤣 you don’t just take someone’s dumpling or dumpling equivalent.
Here’s my take on the chicken. Bo often struggles with the importance of his work. In several of his specials you’ll see him grapple with the importance of performance in a world with so many other huge problems. This song seems to answer his own question which is basically “the effort makes the art worth it, regardless of if that effort makes a real difference.” So believing the chicken got to the other side is better than believing the effort was stopped.
He's actually imitating Drake's song "Controlla" with his "Five Years" song. It's super funny how close it sounds.
Everyone who's ever been in a relationship has had that dumpling conversation -_-
the chicken and 5 years r total yin and yang songs! i love it!
Haha love it! I don’t think it’s toxic tho, it’s just examples of the little things that can get sideways in long term relationships
OR maybe I just didn’t know that my 20 year marriage is toxic 😹 If that’s the case no one tell me please lmao
“Let’s just check out the chicken…”
I had never listened to the chicken until now. I really am crying over this chicken
it's not a toxic relationship it's a regular relationship with at least one somewhat neurotic party lol
The song was about overcoming fear, not letting it control you.
every time i watch something from bo burnham i think to myself what an outstanding and most special artist he is.. he is able to write songs that are funny on the first impression but always reach a lot deeper..
he already is a fuckin legend imo.. and he is still getting better somehow.. altough i dont even know how that is possible.. xD
The funniest part is he sounds EXACTLY like Jason Derulo (or someone similar)! OMG I laughed so hard! Love it!🤣😂😁😊❤️
A lot of Bo Burnham's music makes me cry but The Chicken does so without fault.
"What a 🐓" 😂
"Dreams of becoming a dentist"
Chicken dont have teeth 😂
So is it an impossible dream?
Has a Right Brain/Left Brain vibe
This song is hilarious I love bo Burnham 😂
1985 is sooo good
"what?? bo is not only hahaha?"
- those dudes, probably
please do more of the inside outtakes
You guys have to checkout Bo Burnham words words words
“What a cock” lmao I’m crying 😂
bro drake 🤣🤣🤣
some people actually get "the chicken" song, and some people miss it completely. Bo is a genius at taking tragedy and turning it into a joke, but here...he took a joke and made it a tragedy.
You guys knwo BO lol fuck yeah ffffuuuuck yes he is my favorite comedian ever.
god I love this drake song
Chicken suicide the musical is my take on "The Chicken". Mother is stressed and sick of her everyday life and screaming, abusive husband and seeks out a way of escape. but of course, music, and art, are all subjective
"She liked her life as mother and wife"
The story is not about specifically toxic cases of marriage.
It's about missed opportunity and wonder "would I be happier?"
@@richpokemon As I said lad, art is subjective. I took it that way and you took it yours, thats the magic of music
The reason Inside is so dark, to me, is as a progressive he has seen the US fall under the worst regression that has been enforced upon us in decades. Some of the songs, like five years and 1985, criticize the extremes of left messaging that hurts progress (feminism that only cares about equality until it is inconvenient [five years] | all white men are privileged and have it easy, time to go hate on toxic masculinity because he's white and a man...except it isn't every white man, but specific people that are the offenders. [1985])
Meanwhile, all eyes on me tells us it's too late to do anything about global warming, "you tell me the ocean's rising like I give a shit, you say the world is ending, buddy it already did... Heaven's knows you tried, got it? Good, now get inside [the arc].". That funny feeling lists tragedy after tragedy and how quickly it's washed away with distractions, show causing how easily detached voters will just ignore what's really going on. The way the world works is literally the way the world works, progress and the left are being destroyed by corporations and neo-liberals who care only about lining their own pockets while stripping power away from the working class, by putting the less educated working class against its own interests through constant lies.
As someone who was right wing and quote unquote woke up thanks to knowing Trump's whole schtick back when he ran for president in 2000, I can definitely see why he would feel so down and try to get his message out even though he wasn't really ready yet.
3rd try is the charm, drake song lmao
no subscriber here, your lack of focus on the chicken song, this song requires maturity to see what he’s really discussing, but it’s silly enough for simpletons to also enjoy
You’re pretentious as fuck lmao you have such a superiority complex, just let people enjoy the songs, this is why people can’t stand Bo Burnham fans
