You're the only reactor that I've found that actually attempts to interpret, explain and ask questions about what you're watching, as opposed to the usual pause a couple times and make a 3 second comment or two. Totally get it! There’s something for everyone. I will say I plan on moving on from Bo after these outtakes and focus more on music and that should have less analyzing depending on the music!

I actually posted kinda this same thing on the bo subreddit. I think Chris is the most insightful out of all the hundreds of reactors I've seen haha. Most people seemed to agree with me about it too
I love this song, and I think you’re right that it didn’t make the cut because it doesn’t fit the Inside Vibe. But he is Ina long term relationship so I think this is some old school Bo poking fun at cohabitation.

re: the spider thing, if a girlfriend asked me to deal with a spider, I'd be like fine no worries, but if she said "be a man" you're damn right I'm pointing out her hypocrisy if she's the type to (rightly, I might add) resist traditional gender norms.

I feel like Bo intentionally made his character in "5 years" kind of a d-bag. Like everything is about him, starting with the voicemail. Hes only doing it for himself. For their anniversary writes an entire song complaining about his partner. With the sharing food bit, he gets petty and says you owe me a dumpling. With the spider bit, he goes off on her for saying "be a man"... when yeah, it is technically not an ideal phrase to constantly be using, but it's so minute assuming that she usually practices what she preaches in her beliefs. And the last one is petty as well. Hes telling her "just use the guest room bathroom"... why cant he is the guest room bathroom?
This was just kinda my interpretation. We all know Bo doesnt have a problem playing a bad guy in his songs lol. But it could also just be a song about everyday, mundane fights.
Literally one of my favorite parts of the entire special/outtakes is at 0:53. Idk what it is about how Bo is dancing but it's just SO ACCURATE FOR THE SONG HE'S PLAYING IN THE BACKGROUND LMFAO. It makes me laugh EVERY TIME. The lil wrist that he does while dancing, I can't

Love that you're willing to look at it so carefully but I'm pretty sure the 'everyone's a feminist until there is a spider around' thing is satire. Like as if women can't pull a cheeky thing to get out of dealing with a spider what with everything else they have to deal with? And men thinking that them being asked to deal with a spider is going to bring the movement down? Obvs I could be wrong but it seems that way 2 me

After watching the whole show, it boggled my mind too, the sheer volume of footage and takes, and still he made every right decision for Inside. So fascinating to see his brain working!
I love the way you analyze not just the music but the videotography. I think you would do good at analyzing music videos of comedians (Weird Al, Little Dicky, ...) or rappers with "bars" where there is a meaning behind it (Eminem, Kendrick, ...) But your analysis of the videos behind the music is spot on (drake theme) and I wanna see more of that.

Hey Chris, a little tip on YT. Pause the video and hit "" to go frame by frame :D. Arrow keys go 5 secs at a time and space bar = pause and unpause. - I did the exact same thing while watching the outtakes. I wanted to see what flashed on screen.

Oooof, Chris I’ve recently started watching your Reacts to Bo’s vids. You usually have the best, most insightful, and thoughtful commentary than any other UA-cam channel. However, I think you really missed the mark on this one. Yes, it was a parody of a Drake-like song or similar hip-hop/pop relationship type “hits”. But, it seems very obvious from the start that Bo was highlighting that the “Man” in the relationship think he is very suave and lovey-dovey, but his actions he describes are extremely douchey, and selfish behavior. From the start, with the voicemail message, asking her to do a favor, while belittling her. To being a selfish baby, with his Chinese food. Who acts like that! When getting Chinese takeout, they give you a shit ton of food, and you usually share apps and entrees? Then the spider… what a pussy, jumping up on a coffee table over a spider. Although he describes himself as a being agile. Bo was mocking him, and showing what a dick he is for using such a trivial incident to lash out at her and completely attack all of her feminist beliefs. Almost all of these type pop songs have this trope of professing love and devotion, but they obliviously describe how shitty they act towards their partner.

@@ChrisReactsToThings I don't think that people necessarily should or shouldn't. I enjoy "reaction videos" if they can teach me something I hadn't noticed myself. More importantly, I just think this just shows how on the nose Bo is about the internet. There's constant conversation, and everyone feels like their opinion needs to be shared all of the time. (Even me here in the comment section.) To Bo's question, "Can anyone single one shut up about anything?" I really wish we (especially me) could get off the internet more, and not always need to speak my mind, but it's hard. Thanks for the reply Chris!

One thing I am SOOOO glad he didn't include into the final were the ads or the weird pop-ups during the outtakes ... That would have pulled me straight out of the INSIDE special ... It would have killed all types of emotional investment I had into Bo as a character going through the pandemic.
I agree they were a little jarring. Some are funny but it takes the attention away. Still wondering what exactly he was trying to achieve with them. I talk about it a bit later in the outtakes.
I think he added those because the outtakes were on UA-cam so he was poking fun at the medium a little bit, how people will have monetization on during really serious videos and totally break the mood/authenticity, I don't think he ever really intended them to make the final Netflix cut

You could be onto something with your interpretation of five years since Bo at this time has been with his partner for nine years rather than five years as when this song was originally performed at Largo. At least to my knowledge.

I feel like you're missing the forest for the trees on this one. The song's meant to portray an unhealthy/toxic relationship thats gone on longer than either person really wants. Each of the situations aren't about the literal context of the fight, its about the guys internal resentment of his girlfriend and these situations are just meant to show how that bleeds into their everyday lives. He's a selfish jerk, who uses and puts down his partner. I've had a fair few family members in toxic relationships like this and he portrays it with a scary accuracy.
