Somehow unrelated but not so much, and some 20 years ago, at work, we played to "Quake" on LAN, and in the company there were some really good dudes, the kind of guy doing headshots always with a "railgun" (which is a gun which had a delay), at far distance. Playing against them were punishing. But when you watch them play, they were total relax, sometimes even talking and joking on the side. The usual player was stressful, shouting, trash talking, hitting their mouse when fragged... While the "bests" were totally peaceful and calm while making their opponents intense open "hell gates". When you reach a certain level, you become a master, and you don't have to "think" to do what you want, you just want to stand up and walk, you stand up and walk, you want to play that sequence of note, it happens all by itself, your hands know where they have to go, you don't even have to think to what and when which finger must do its job. In fact, if you start to think, you fall :).
Bravo, Hadrien. This is the best performance I've ever heard U play. So musical, so fluent, such a beautiful og soul-full and elegant thing. Real MUSIC. Lots of love and respect. Salute et bis, P
I started listening to him while listening to chick corea and RTF. Then years later he's playing with chick In Vigil. I got extremely happy knowing both are now in a band. Rip Chick Corea. He chose Feraud because he is the only bassist at the time to play in that album perhaps. Adequate enough I guess. My favourite bassist ever.
He's a really big fan of the melodias minor scale it's very prominent in alot of his solos and this one as well. But he's not thinking that when he's playing it's what he's hearing.
I saw that too, wtf? What possibly is the reason ? To low the friction? WTF, when you see a bassist licking his finger to play, you know the shit is going to get serious.
He literally has a pedal board with at least 5 pedals on it in front of him. The tone was very affected at times. So no this isn't just him and the bass. 1. He has a volume/wah on his board. He definitely had some volume swells. 2. He 100% has pedal compression and is using something else to compression at the amp. His tone is compressed a ton (very common for bassists to do that) 3. He kicked on a chorus effect at one point during the solo. Another very common effect with bassists. 4. Pedal EQ is a given. Basically ever bassist with solos uses one. You can clearly hear him kick it on (or off) when his solo starts. Using effects doesn't make him worse, just to be clear. Effects are there to help create a mood. He created a lovely soundscape.
From a French singer "Claude Nougaro", the title is "Dancer sur moi" nice song but this version is unbelievable, I listened probably a hundred time without being able to get tired of it, Grandiose !!!

Well. Managing the friction between your fingers and strings is of utmost importance. I've never seen that one, though. Maybe he's kissing them bon voyage!
Just a pile of notes. Just another bunch of virtuoso shredders. Instantly forgettable pieces that all sound overly busy, complex and ugly. I think this is based on Girl Talk but as usual the guys just want to go off on monster shred and decimate what is actually a great tune. Heaven forbid that they play a solo that a human being can actually sing.
Whaaatt?? This tune was played beautifully! It’s a different kind of take on it for sure. But I am curious, what jazz musicians do you like listening to?
Great playing as always.
Very interesting reharmonization as well. Here are the chords, approximately:
A∆7 | D#ø7 (or D#-7) | D∆7 A/C# | B-7 E7sus E7#9
A∆7 | D#ø7 (or D#-7) | D∆7 A/C# | B-7 E7#9
A-7 | D-7 | C-7 Eb/F | D/E E/D
C#7alt | F#7b9 | A/C# D-7 | A/C# C13
B7#11 | D/E A7b9 | D-7 | A/C#
C#7alt | F#7alt | B7#11 | E7sus E7alt
the second chord is a D#7(b5)
One thing that always amazes me about players of similar caliber to Hadrien is how relaxed they look when playing lines like that.
Wyatt Siefert That's the reason why they are able too play like that.

Its Meditation.
Setup makes a big difference. Low gauge strings allows for lower action without the fret buzz and makes playing easy in general.

Hadrien is the reason I'm here but hat's off to Viccaro.. fantastic drumming.
The chording right after his solo.....I just can't. Wonderful performance once again!
Absolutely outstanding bass playing. The tone is the best I've ever heard from Hadrien.........stunning.
I am prefer Ken Smith sound
Is it just me or is he using Flatwounds????
@@danimmel6721 I just came across this vid - looks like flats - but sometimes rounds round?!?!
This rythm reminds me mazurka from my country Guadeloupe. Great to see it played this way❤

for me this is a really great crazy band... amazing bass solo so very cool & melodic
This keyboard player, Jerry Leonide, saw him live few weeks ago, incredible playing from this underrated pianist!
So much Jaco is this in terms of melody and composition. Beautiful tune all around and a real example of Hadrian's versatility.

All of them killing it! strait FIRE! this is great wakeup music
the notes are really beautiful, thx hadrien
His intonation is UNBELIEVABLE!!
The minute I saw him holding his bass classical style, said to myself there's some serious little black dots going to be played here. I wasn't wrong!
Simply outstanding....

Hey dude, can anyone tell me, what scale/modes he is using?
How long have you got? Hahaha. Jesting aside, I'd love a breakdown of this work too.
Melodic minor modes (super locrian) other altered dominant seventh chords mostly

Is he really licking his fingers while playing!?
I saw that too, wtf? What possibly is the reason ? To low the friction? WTF, when you see a bassist licking his finger to play, you know the shit is going to get serious.
Didn't catch that... when does it happen?
Maybe it's not for playing purpose, maybe he has a little cut on his finger and it burns while playing
Between 1:10 and 1:20 he gives one
I think he does it cause, sometimes flat strings give lot of friction and you can't have a fluid play with high speeds. (Sometimes it happens to me)
moisturizing your fingers facilitates speeds. i assume that's why he does it.
Is that song’s name is live? What is the song’s name
Extra long scale bass?
It should be played in the Hospital, 'cuz It really cures.
Woo...
Giant paul pieces ...
mantaaaap
Never seen a bassist lick their fingers lol.
“Girl Talk”
Heavily disguised to the point that you wouldn't know.
Does anyone know if Hadrien is using some pedal effect of any kind?
+Alessio Shiva Velluso probably not, he's not that kind of guy
BassTheWorld.com What the hell?? how can he have such a beautiful sound?
cuz there's actually a reason why custom basses cost more.
He literally has a pedal board with at least 5 pedals on it in front of him. The tone was very affected at times. So no this isn't just him and the bass.

omg its Jason Sudeikis
Why most of the Ken Smith bass players switch over to Mayones Bass Guitars?
I suspect it's for a more Fender-like punch, and fatness. I could be wrong of course.
He didnt switch. He uses both
He had the ken Smith when I saw him
Is he kissing his fingers like “good job” 😂😂😂
1:10 the lick get it
Argh. Hadrien is incredible.
Is Hadrien using flats in this clip?
It almost looks like it. Is the coating on the Elixir strings playing tricks with us? It certainly doesn't sound flatwound
@@RonMazasco Yeah, most likely the stage lights playing a trick on my eyes. :)
All this band needs is a bass player.
Gregor gimme , gimme , gimme a bass like Hadrien's
O câmera parece que não entende que quem ta fazendo o solo é quem deve ser filmado. O bass solando e ele filmando o piano
