Agree! He actually starts this at 2:22 and carries the phrase until 2:42. Thank you for pointing this out! I missed it on first hearing. Very cool, and done without fanfare, just serving the music.
What a beautifully played performance of this brass quintet masterpiece. This is what brass chamber music is all about: tone, clarity and listening. Is the complete performance available? Bravo, tutti!!
Wow how can the horn player project his sound so well? The horn sound can penetrate tru the other brass sound so well. I always play the loudest possible volume while playing mellowly but still cant penetrate tru the trumpets
I don't play horn very often, but I play euphonium, which can also be a difficult instrument to project on. But the way I learned to project was to play as loud as possible without caring about tone. And then after I got that consistent I started to tone it back done but still doing my best to keep some of the "brassiness". The main thing I learned from it was that if you use to much pressure nothing is going to project at all. But then again it's different for everyone and this is just me.
@@adamschmidt546 brassy tone is a good way to penetrate the sound but I recently found out a way which can preserve the iconic mellow sound yet project well which is to play a really "large" and "wide" tone but it require tons of air as well as mature sound to make a big large sound. The horn at 0:30 is a good example for a large soundstage which is slightly brassy, mostly mellow, big and projecting well and far.
That tuba phrasing and dynamic control were masterful, especially at 1:13!
Beautiful performance. Trumpet circular breathing at 2:33 is total badass.

That the sounds powerful,beautiful, strong
outstanding group sound and precision, thanks for sharing
Love it. I played cornet and tuba in my youth.
Great Performance! Extra points for circular breathing to the trumpet player ;)
didn't even pick that up but wow. Can't imagine trying that while playing. Props to him!
This is incredibly nice quintet playing! Bravo guys! So refreshing to hear people who understand chamber playing...
Thoroughly enjoyed the performance.

Such an engaging and delightful piece; the playing clean, crisp and clear.
Very good, beautiful tuning, the metals are incredible!😁
One of the best wind in the world!
Thrilling
This should be mainstream music

@@sookaiwen9995 yeah, I see what you mean
The horn is setup so that the bell points towards the audience. If the horn is placed on the other side, it makes it quite a bit harder to hear.
@@jondevries9380 My quintet setup is like them, I'm bad at playing that's why my sound can't project.
bravi
