I used Aomei Partition Assistant and actually paid for it. It wouldn't clone over the Recovery Environment and it was a 2 day headache. Thanks to your video and Marcium Reflect, I was able to clone my Dell Inspiron 15 7000 Gaming 128GB to a 1TB Crucial and actually have my RE in tact. Thank you and I hope life rewards you greatly.
Fantastic and simple. One thing that I find that helps is a list of steps that can also be printed - maybe in PDF form. I tend to do this with videos that I watch because I am normally using the PC that is being or going to be modified and cannot be on it and watching at the same time. Having a printed step by step is helpful also because I can check off items as I complete them. A little old school - but... thanks .
Thank you for this!! Glad that there are people out there that make videos on how to do things. Currently cloning my 512G NVMe SSD to my new 2TB NVMe SSD. Hopefully all goes well!
Saved my bacon twice today. I watched another clone video HDD to crucial SSD. Of course I had to subscribe. I'm sure I'll learn alot more by watching your channel.
Excellent instructions! I downloaded the cloning software you used some time ago but was still very reluctant to attempt any type of SSD upgrade on my Dell Inspirion 3585 15.6in Touch screen laptop until I saw your video today. Now Im going to do it as soon as possible thanks to your video and the recommendation you gave on the cloning software you use. THANKS AGAIN!
Good and steadily paced instructional! Pulling together the pieces to upgrade my Dell G5 based on this and already sourced the adapter and MVMe SSD. Thanks and subbed. :-)
Fantastic video that I wish I saw yesterday. I did a full clone, then did the resizing after. Took me hours to find out what I did wrong. About to pop my new 1TB SSD in. I hope I boot up... Subbed!
I found this video very informative and followed it exactly to upgrade my laptop. I was upgrading the primary (C:) drive from a 256GB to a 1TB NVMe. All went well until I restarted my machines after the process and found applications I had installed on the secondary (D:) drive were no longer available. I discovered both drives had been encrypted using BitLocker and some how the key for the D: had been compromised by replacing the primary drive. The original primary drive, now residing in the enclosure, is still encrypted but, as I hope not to need the files on it, I am not concerned at this point. The lesson-learned is to remove BitLocker from those drives that might be affected before commencing the cloning procedure, and more importantly, reinstate BitLocker once complete. I suspect Windows 11 will ease this issue because, unlike Win 10, it expects there to be a TPM on the motherboard for storing encryption keys.
This is perfect. I've seen a couple videos of yours and, maybe it's just me but you have a great way of teaching and it's greatly appreciated. I wish I found your vids before wasting time trying to get info and price gouge attempts from Dell.
Thanks this really helped. I wouldn’t have thought extending the C drive partition so thanks. The clone worked perfectly and I now have a nice 1TB which was a massive storage update from my 250GB drive which I am now using as an external drive.
thank you for your videos i liked using the plugable adapter macruim reflect doesnt work for me so i bought a seagate baracuda nvme m.2 ssd, and used there seagate disk wizard. its like acronus. it cloned fast the first time. again thanks for the great videos. keep making more thanks
I recently bought a new 17 7000 series Dell which when I opened it had 2 DIMM RAM slots and 256 GB M2. I called customer support to verify that I could upgrade the RAM to 32 GB and increase the M2 to 2 TB. The India based customer support said that this Dell was limited to 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of NVMe. I don't see why it can't take the 32 GB RAM cards x 2 and a 2 TB MVMe card. How do I confirm that a modern mother board can be upgraded to better components. I returned the laptop as it only had one bay for storage. I thought it would have at least 2 bays.
I’m running into the same exact issue. I don’t know what’s going on I have a razor blade 15 with a 2070 max-q graphics card and the cloned ssd isn’t being recognized
Honestly, I can't believe there are still people who send their laptops to an engineer just to upgrade an SSD and RAM 😄 I would get it if to required soldering, button just clone the disc and unscrew a couple of screws...
Hey thanks for the useful video. I have one question however: My laptop has a spare SSD slot that I'd like to install an upgraded SSD as my main C drive, but to keep the existing SSD installed for files and games etc... Is the process any different during the cloning and installation phase? Cheers.
He put the info into the Description box. Click the "Show More" link just beneath the video. The device is called a "USB to M.2 Adapter". Be sure your memory _matches_ the adapter you wish to use!! There's a notch at the "insertion end" of your stick of RAM. That notch moves around depending on the type of RAM it is. The notch (or "key" as it's sometimes referred to) is there to make sure that only the correct type of RAM can be inserted into it.
Hi, So sorry. I have just added it to the bottom of video. But here it is.......www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07JKWHFRC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Very useful video. Thanks. I got the same laptop with some different features. I installed an m2 nvme ssd but it is not shown in booting options on bios. I tried everything i know but could't find a solution. Do you have any advice sir? If you can help me i would appreciate
Hi. Your ssd will not show in bios . You must boot from a windows 10 usb installation flash drive to install windows on your ssd. I have many videos on this process. Dale
@@CadillacComputerCenter I have already tried it. I installed win10 then restarted but it didnt boot new drive so i checked bios but even i installed windows on it, m2 ssd wasnt in thr boot sequence list.
HI, thanks for your video I did all that you did but my end result was different. The unallocated space isn't recognized and it only seeing 256 instead of 1 tb. How do I fix this?
Hey Dale, I'm doing this procedure as well following your every move just like the other video. For this one, after I situate the partitions from Source -> Destination and hit Next I get a message about Bitlocker not being enabled and to enable it after I clone. I didn't take it any further, I see you didn't have that on yours so just trying to figure out how to go about it. I know how to enable/disable it but read some horror stories about not being able to boot and/or re-enable Bitlocker. As always any insight or advice is very much appreciated. Wy wife already wants to chop off my beans for getting this laptop and investing further in SSD's and RAM so if I completely screw it up I'm a dead man.
Hi. If device encryption is enabled, you cannot clone. Go ahead and disable it first before anything. I have never had a problem . When you turn it off, it does take a long time, depending on how much stuff you have on drive. Dale
Okay so disable, clone, then re enable on the new SSD after I switch it out? Thanks Dale I really appreciate your time, I know you have a business to run and things to do. Do you have Venmo? I'd like to donate a little for your help
@@CadillacComputerCenter okay thanks. In your opinion, would it be easier/safer to just to do a clean install of the new ssd instead of cloning? It's a new laptop and I don't need anything on the existing drive, just want to start fresh with larger storage. I thought cloning was necessary in order to upgrade storage. The other video you did on a Windows install with an 8GB flash drive, would that be the right option? Thanks again!
