Both, the english and the german versions are very impressive and are pulling to heartstrings. It ‘s neither a song for the USA, nor against Germany; “Landesverräterin” = Quatsch.
It’s a private song about two humans in deep love during a very cruel war! Easy to understand, but not for patriots. Patriotism makes stupid, sorry.

All of the pictures were of Allied (mostly US) soldiers, except for a couple of shots of Italian POWs, and one incongruous shot of German paratroopers apparently just before going on a mission (1:46-1:48). How did that fit in with the others?

tbh i prefer it in german :/ im doing a history project at the moment on Music in WW2, and the german sounds abit better than the english eventhough its the same just in different languages.
