DBZ Fan REACTS to Kakarot Cutscenes for the First Time!

- I have never played dbz kakarot. The reason is because i thought the gameplay looked barebones and lame (remind you of anything?) so i kept my distance, however today I decided to take a look at the cinematic cutscenes from the game as I was already aware of how impressive CC2 was in the visual department.

there are 2 types of cutscenes on this game, the cinematics ones, and the in game ones, so alot of stuff are on the ingame instead of cinematics like frieza transforming, or ginyu swapping into the frog.
The reason Battle of Gods and Resurrection F are in this as dlc is because they were technically part of DBZ before getting retconned into the Super anime.
They premiered as DBZ movies. The Super anime just re-did them as episodes both for people who didn’t watch them and because they needed to fill out the series more before they got to original things that haven’t happened yet.
If they made a Super Kakarot they might add them in it as well as part of the story but I don’t know.
personal dbz kakorot was one of the best db i played really enjoy it, dlc good too.

I do like the little tidbits they added to the script of this game to correct or at least smooth over the plot holes, both that have existed since Z and that new information released later have caused.
Examples: Raditz immediately recognizes Goku as Kakarot and even comments on the family resemblance: "You look just like our old man."
Second big one, the Potara earrings and Vegito splitting back into Goku and Vegeta was a plot-hole from the moment it was introduced, and Super explained it as mortals only fuse for thirty minutes and only Kais fuse permanently. Didn't contradict the Elder Kai's explanation, as he simply didn't know. And the game slips that in when he explains it: "Once you fuse, you'll be that way forever! As far as I know..."
And there's plenty of other such things in side missions, too. They even explain why the animal people from original Dragonball disappeared as Z went on, to the point by the Buu saga they pretty much no longer existed, though admittedly that one's a bit of stretch on the believability.

I enjoyed playing kakarot a lot, replayed the game multiple times and the dlc just made it even better.

@@f10pped36 kinda but not really, after doing everything you can go to the time machine and play through the story again with your current stats but that just makes you one shot most of the story, I just make new save slots to play through it again.
awesome video man, you definitely need to watch more of it! AND PLEASE WATCH THE DLC, the future trunks cutscene where gohan fights the androids is so PEAK.

I still won't forgive this game for important missing scenes like the Final Flash of Vegeta on Cell
Also if it looks like it skips stuff it's because there are in games cinematics where you see Krillin get impaled, dende shot at, Ginyu into a frog stuff like that. They do look good but nowhere near the "movie" cinematics

I just could not get past the combat, it was so unenjoyable but every other aspect of the game was so cool, and all the cutscenes were beyond anything I could ever want from any DBZ game.
Yh the gameplay to me looks very bare bones but visually this looks great

For the best visuals for a dbz game I have to give it to kakarot it’s special effects and recreations of scenes and camera work is impressive. In terms of being 1 to 1 with looking like the anime dbfz has it hands down they captured 2d dragon ball in 3d to a tee
Yeah too bad the cutscenes started becoming lackluster starting from cell saga with only a few of them being good.

Dokkan Battle is what got me into Dragon Ball and helped me learn a bit about characters in the series. That and the help of my older cousin who knew a lot about Dragon Ball. He got me into Dbz Kai and helped me through there.
This was in Feburay 2017 btw, been a Dragon Ball fan for 5 years.

To be fair, racoome was giving everyone work before goku shows up, so it makes some sense that he got hype cutscenes.
I'm a little late but I think kakarot is what they want to be the official version of dbz's story. It's more streamlined and cuts out all the filler stuff.
That’s not a bad thing to hope to achieve, But I feel like that would’ve only been possible with more development time. If this game had an extra year to include scenes that were missing or give certain scenes extra style this could’ve been spectacular

Personally, yeah I would say kakarots story is a decent way to experience the dbz story, though id still recommend you to watch the anime after for added details.

I got into Dragon Ball with Xenoverse 1, and then watched BoG, RoF and Super. This must have been when I was 10 or so, before the Super dub was even out lmao
I've played Budokai 3, Tenakichi 3, Dokkan, Legends, Xenoverse 1/2 and FighterZ, but I've NEVER seen the Z anime
I've seen half of OG DB and half of GT (and obviously all of Super) but all of my knowledge of Z comes from the games and consuming a TON of exterior DB content from UA-cam and things like that
So I guess technically I do know the story with just the games? Or at least I did 8 years ago lmao

From the very little from when I was playing the game, the game does cover the entire story, just that the video shows the more "cinematic" cutscenes from the game. The parts like Freeza transforming was shown in-game, hense why it wasn't shown in the video.
I don't remember Frieza transforming in game tbh
my theory is Goku giving Frieza that energy is how Golden Frieza is possible, and Black Frieza is from being exposed to god of destruction energy multiple times. just think about it they both match the color scheme of the forms.

Concerning the cell saga bits it's weird as most games neglect the time when semi perfect cell was around its weird considering how much actually happened in that time

You can tell they wasted a good amount of there Budget almost exclusively on the first half because there are way less cinematic cutscenes towards the Cell and Buu saga.

I felt the same way about the gameplay my guy. Combat feels like a mobile game. The visuals are absolutely stunning though. If the game shared Raging Blast 2's combat/counter mechanics, it almost would've been perfect. In my humble opinion, Raging Blast 2 truly emulated the combat seen in the source material better than anything else we have today. Hopefully the new Tenkaichi will remedy that. CyberConnect2 really missed the opportunity to take the best elements from past DBZ games and incorporate them into this. It's a shame this game wasn't really given the chance to grow. I would've paid some money for those missing cutscenes, more playable characters and additional gameplay. Imagine DLC and characters for all of the classic DBZ movies.

Only downside this game has is the combat system n the lack of emotion the cutscenes have especially gohans ssj2 transformation. Even Dokkan battles rage active for gohan was better.

Kakarot got rushed to come out mid way into the cell saga so they couldn't include some key moments like that or else parts like gohan vs cell and the buu saga would have been less animated which is why the buu saga had less cool moment in the game then at the start

Dragon ball would've had the perfect ending if they ended it after namek saga. Frieza would be dead, goku would be dead but he would've unlocked super saiyan and also saved every body, krilin would be dead so death wouldn't feel stupid. The ending would be soooo good.
