5 styling tips to improve personal style
Вставка
- Опубліковано 18 сер 2024
- We wear the same fashionable, but uniformal looks everyday. It's time to learn about structure, silhouette and texture to improve the looks we already have without buying new pieces. I gathered my favourite styling hues together, I personally love them cause it's so easy, yet disruptive, because it manages to create a new form, that didn't exist before. Inspired by The Row, Craig Green, Prada and many runways, especially the latest Mens Fashionweek in Paris, London and Milan.

Minimal is not the Pinnacle, personal style is! Thank you so much for saying this!
absolutely! its actually the easiest way to choose minimal!
QUEEN IS BACK... and she tells you how to get down to the most essential thing in life.... THE DRIP
hahaha, lets get down to this!!!
Thank you Tuba. Your tip re pink particularly struck me (being someone who bans pink from my wardrobe). I recently bought my teenage son a 'risky' pair of soft dusky pink Eric Emmanuel basketball shorts. A few days ago I watched him wearing them on the court as he was practicing shots. I became totally entranced by the color in conjunction with his athleticism, how uncommon and striking it was. It elevated me and put me in such a mood of hopefulness and positivity that I was slightly embarrassed, as this feeling seemed all out of proportion to the circumstances. Then others he didn't know approached him on the court and wanted to connect. It struck us both as unusual as he's not at all approachable. I actually felt it was the color of the pink shorts having an effect on us but then quashed the idea as being absurd. But then I come across you articulating so perfectly the power of this particular shade of pink, especially on men. Wow! Confirmation! Color is powerful.
Kirsten, this story is so beautiful that I got goosebumps! I’m truly happy you had this kind of emotional experience, where even our own perceptions are being challenged sometimes. This proves again the power that movement, materials and colours can have. The image that I have in my head now of the kids playing and the pink shorts will stay there for a while, thank you so much for sharing 🩷
A year or two ago I finally tried layering a tank top over a button down shirt, as recommended by my stylist friend. It was genius. Totally blew my mind as it was a look I would never have tried but I felt so cool and I loved the effect.🎉
its truly life changing, it creates such a new silhouette! great for you 🥰
Interesting I got that style inspiration from an early Issey Miyake menswear runway - like one of his 1980s spring summer.
I want to show more support for all you do, which at the moment I follow on UA-cam. You add so much to be grateful for! I’m sure I’m not alone in saying I expect to show support concretely for so much you have offered (and continue offering) gratis on UA-cam, and also having the opportunity to enter the other fora you’re utilizing to “bring content out”- and to bring people together. Your videos are pure joy to watch, and reflect a great deal of work in addition to your splendid personality and intelligence.
thank you so much for showing your support over here 💘 and thanks for your kind words, nothing better for me than to hear someone enjoying what I do 😌
with my notebook taking notes on Tuba Avalon vids like it's a lecture
you’re the best guuurl 🔥💖💖💖
I love listening to you 👏…. “People might find it weird…which is great, it’s our only goal” 😂🙏🏻👍
haha, sometimes being different means being on the right track 😂
i totally agree about stefano pilati's ysl days.. some of my fave
GREAT HAIRCUT again!
haha, pretty recent! good eye!
100% on a soft pink top! I have a soft pink long sleeve cotton top for 10+ years ... great with all colours. I am wearing it now and can confirm it now has a thumb hole in one sleeve, two holes in one armpit...plus a newly acquired coffee stain. i havent managed to find a replacement 😂
honestly this shirt sounds like a dream 💖 I'm sure the colour got even better with all the years, im searching for a good one second hand one!
One of my most precious treasures is a soft pink mini dress from raf simmon's dior era 🩷
You weren’t kidding! You are blowing my mind with the tank over shirt option. I looooooove this look at it’s expanding the options for summer dressing exponentially because normally layering makes you too hot in the summer. ❤
Another insightful lecture from Professor Avalon! Double collar is something that I have wanted to incorporate more of in my life. However, the short cardigan with the longer shirt is a fresh look to dive into. Lastly, the argyle sweater looks fabulous on you. 🌻
I can imagine the cardigan/shirt look on you pretty well! you will make it work 💙
I hope you do more videos on silhouette and form, I find that the hardest thing to do 😵💫😵💫
These ideas are great and you have inspired me and I am going to try these tips.
thats amazing!! share you're looks!
Great video Tuba. I often find I'm already doing many of these things (with the exception of double collars...not sure I want to relive that particular experience...) but it's kind of the contrast that elevates it. My clothes are often black or navy blue, with little material/fabric contrast, so layering doesn't make much of an impact and it looks very same/same. There's no moment of excitement. So, this is a reminder to self to also mix up colour, pattern, texture, etc while using those basic 'shake up' guides.
my personal struggle is also the colours usually, but trying different textures can still help, especially if its clear cotton vs. thick wools or shiny fabrics. but overall its right, the outfit needs an imbalance to create excitement 🤍
Yes. I want to be so anti-purchase this summer ❤❤❤❤
it's good to rest one summer 😌
This video was great! Could you further explain in another video the form, structure, texture, quality and silhouette when making an outfit?
All great suggestions.
How awesome you went to the mens shows Tuba! 🤩 Always a pleasure watching your HUGE channel.
thank youuu and yes, I still can't believe it 😭
I watched the Prada menswear video at least three times to look at how the blue shirt was folded in the back to lift it. Hot. And I've been thinking about taking puffy straps to lace into the weird velcro holders all over my rafting guide shirts, a la Craig Green. I love your videos and will be going over to Discord and Patreon, too! I hope that you have an option for purchasing more than a month at a time, as I hate managing subscriptions and want to focus all of my attention on fashion and design (outside of my job :).
omg I rewatched the scene with the blue shirt so often! is it just crinkled, designed like that or really just stuffed together? I think the shirt still needs to be slightly small, otherwise it's too much fabric, I don't own a fitting shirt yet :/ and very happy to hear you'd like to join! I haven't got a yearly subscription yet, cause I thought nobody would be interested, I will check it asap!
@@tubaavalon I'll subscribe either way!! I agree about sizing, esp. for this shirt. I feel like it's been manufactured with strips that fold together and that I cannot recreate it. I enjoy the way the back pairs/contrasts with the waistcoat-like front hem.
@@patriciaeamon1388 thank you Patricia, your support means a lot
Plz demonstrate how you restyle your wardrobe, it’s a very good idea to look exciting without spending any money
great idea, noted! ❣
Can’t wait 🥳
🥰
Great tweaks Tuba… 🤩easily achieved too… totally agree we can shop our own wardrobes or so very easily thrift a couple of men’s polo tops get creative with the scissors so as not to have too much thickness to avoid overheating 🥵 😬.. the multiple belt or even 1 really long luggage strap to wrap around at least 3 times 😉depending on the your girth, will so beautifully emphasise the waist… so great…
I too love the soft pastel colours for a punch of contrast with deep tones & boring neutrals but go further than just the so pretty soft pink don’t forget the joy of soft baby blue, pale mint green & pale buttery yellow or pale lemon think babies clothes 👶🏻… they are all JUST YUMMY 🤔😀🤩
Many thanks again Tuba for putting a blast of fresh air through my brain & into my train train quotidien, quite fatigued old wardrobe! 🥰🙋🏻♀️
haha so happy to hear its refreshing! It takes time to really find the good tweaks, but these are my favourite. And omg you're so right with one uber long belt to emphasize it even more! Almost like a short corset! I love seeing pastels, but struggle to implement it into my wardrobe, cause it can also easily make me look pale. But I will try this summer, I might start with baby blue, my favourite 💙
Tuba you are sophisticated, interesting and adorable. I love your videos
omg 😭💖💖💖
Great tips Tuba! I agree the styling is what makes a look, and these styling ideas are great to use with our current clothes.

absolutely! 💘
love your styling videos
aaah thank youu ☺
I just bought a a light pink shirt for the summer, I’m looking forward to wearing it in the fall with a grey flannel suit and a black knitted tie!
grey and soft pink are as strong as black and white 😘
Omg tank over a shirt, this is just me 15 years ago back in the uni on most days, also a suit vest over a tshirt. Thanks for reminding!
Hope the +40° temps will soon give us a break where I am and I can do this combo again :)
suit vest is a great idea too! everything comes back, slightly changed maybe, but it does come back. we do not have summer this year in France I fear, so I will be adapting already lol
Getting up to incorrectly wash my white t-shirt with my red clothes :D
Tuba, you're always so on point! I am so tired of the white t-shirt. They are way too easy and I just can't see them anymore in summer.
And most of your tips are new to me. I love it, when I hear smth I don't already know in a fashion video 💝
Btw one more thing about the collars. In one of your past videos, I noticed that you tucked in one part of the collar of your shirt into your sweater. I don't remember, if you mentioned it explicitly though. But I have never seen anyone do this and I just found it so genius! Super minimal and proffesional and still making it fun.
haha cant wait to see your full pink wardrobe soon 💗 and yes, i tucked just one side of the collar in that video and it was inspired by a Miu Miu runway look from the Spring Summer 2024 season, but I love to do it irl!
Just looked at Pilati for Zegna ..such a great collections, definitelly a sleeper ones, thanks for showing mee!
he is a great one 🤘
I got a few new ideas. Thank you. I’ll probably end of watching again when I’m ready to play with wardrobe again 😊
yaaay 💚
I enjoyed this video. I would love to learn how you style your hair ❤
thank youu! I just use a wet hairgel, that I apply on my wet hair! that's all :)
@tubaavalon Thank you so much. I have a similar short haircut as yours. I love how simple and effortless your styling is. Thanks again for responding.
Love the styling tips! I've been quite into soft pink (and also soft lilac) these days and it just looks so good, it's too bad stereotypes won't let more men wear these colors
thank you! and you're right! omg soft lilac is so beautiful! I think many people just see these soft tones on terrible looking polo shirts, so either associate with them bad design or just don't feel comfortable to expose some colour.
Jan from London - truly love your videos. 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Hey Jan, greetings from Paris! So happy to hear that 🥹💖
love to think I was ahead of the curve layering a long sleeve cashmere polo over a button down shirt at work
you are. don’t make it sound easy, it is one more thought that you put into it than your coworkers!
loved this one, thanks for the input!
thank you 💖
I wear t-shirts over long sleeves all my life, it was a common style when I was young. Interesting video, I just wish you incorporated your own looks not just talking how you dress
I Adore tank tops over shirts and blazers - can you please let me know the designers of the white tank over navy blazer and black tank over pinstripe blazer? Thank you. - love your style and ideas, 🤍💙 luv from Montreal 💞👌
Hi Christine, the first navy blazer with the tank was from the Hed Mayner SS 2018 show, the striped blazer with the black top is from the Juun J. SS 2018 show! Hope this helps, unfortunately older collections, but many brands create pieces that are alike now 💝 greeting back from Paris 😘
Loved the video. I am soooo tired of that minimal cliche it’s personal style what matters! I agree 100% love that tank top styling idea my favorite over shirt. Love pale pink t shirt . White is not my color, especially that bright white.. 🤪❤️
I think minimal was justified after the wild 2000's, but it took over so much space that it surpresses real personal style now, which started to bother me :( white is also very complicated for me, it also depends a lot on the styling of it 🤍
Runway looks often use makeup to make the whole look chef’s kiss
i'm usually not talking about make-up, but def a passion of mine too! you're right that it has a big influence as well 💘
Hey Tuba, maybe a video of the designers with the best personal style could be a good idea for future content and if you do it don't forget Phoebe Philo in her Celine years, thank you
oh great idea, I know exactly who are my Top 3, but that could be super interesting!
Have you done fashion critique for larger sizes?
I like your fashion taste, what brands would you recommend ?
omg this question is too big. But for inspo and even real pieces if it’s manageable, everything Nicolas Ghesquière, early Margiela, every year of Prada, Jil Sander, The Row and also Balenciaga for knowledge in proportions. Dries for patterns, Junya for disruptive tailoring, Martine Rose, Merryl Rogge, these are my current inspirations, but they’re also endless.
sobbing because its 34celcius in my country and layering is impossible..... 😭
Omg not the trisha shade
I just had to ❤🩹
)2:21 is why Demna is a joke.
LOOK AT THAT ORIGINAL SILHOUETTE!!!
SO CRISP, SO CHIC!!! UGH!!!!!!
I do like Demna's designs, but his latest couture collection was not his strongest. I think we just need to see designers in context still. Cristobal is for me the most influential couturier and we see his influence until today, but I think Demna did a great job re-interpreting his designs and adding his own vision to it too
why is your computer sicker than mine
haha it's not mine!
How to dress well in the summer? it's too hot for layering and more challenging to create an interesting outfit
that's right, it might not work for extreme temperatures, but for the usual 25 degrees we have here, I tend to skip the longsleeve and just implement the stylings on short sleeved shirts, so doubling them doesn't affect me too much, like a tank over a t-shirt. I might do a video on tips for ultra hot temperatures too :)
you are so cool🔥❤
you're cooler

You speak tooo much!
