Awesome. 👏🏼
Thank you. 😁
Pro-ject has really nice products! I've got the DS2 Tube Phono Pre and it's amazing!
Oh yea!! Very nice.
I have a Pro-Ject X1 B and am considering the S3 B DS3 B to explore balanced connections. Great review, subscribed! Are you based out of STL?

Thanks. 😊
We’re near Seattle Wa
I have the Rega Planar 6 and absolutely adore it. You will love the P3!!!
I’m excited. 😁😁😁
I picked up this things big brother(DS3 B) and couldn't be happier. The loading potentiometer is nice for fine tuning the loading of MC cartridges. Looking to upgrade the power supply to a linear toroidal versus the switching wall wart.
They’re FANTASTIC.
Do you know the pin wiring of the 5 pin mini XLR of the phono pre-amp? I can hardly find it.

Not sure either. Pretty sure it’s exclusive to the project table.
I’m the guy who is buying the P6 I wrote u under my wife’s name

Welcome. 🙏🏼
I use a Project Phono Box S3 B in fully balanced mode on my vintage set up along with the Project ACCU Box S2 battery power supply and it really does shame phono stages in the £1k ball park, Its that good. NB. The phono cables with the Rean T5 mini XLR plug are readily available and are the same as used with the Musical Fidelity MX-VYNL which is also fully balanced but twice the price of the S3 B.
Very nice. 👍. I have since moved to a used PS Audio GCPH and could not be happier. Superb pre.
I have the Pro-ject X8 fully balanced TT with the DS3 B phono pre and that combo is end game for me. Amazing combo for the price :)
Very nice. Just picked up an older PS Audio Gain Cell phone stage. Wowza. Also, check out me current review on the Parks Audio Puffin! Got the Waxwing in for review too. 😍😍. SB3 is up for sale.
Great video. Keep them coming. Dig the channel is a 501(c)3. What’s the green book in the background?
Rules of a knight. It will change your life.
Those Polks are killer. Always wanted a pair.
Some of my favorite, you can often find the Monitor A10 with the peerless tweeter for under $500 a pair.
Project x1 b or x2b are both balanced turntables in the UK start at £700> .
Very nice!! 👍🏼
I have the X2 (non balanced) turntable. From my understanding - after talking with someone from pro-ject - there is no difference between the x1b/x2b and x1/x2 other than the 5 pin output in the back(?). I was told that with a special cable (2 single ended rca + ground to 5 pin xlr) the turn table would be every bit as balanced as the x2b. Armed with this knowledge, I set my sights on the DS3 B phono preamp to usher in MC capabilities. Maybe a hail marry here to ask here, but anyone do anything similar? My moonstone stylus got destroyed, and I'm tempted to plunge into MC..
Good luck my friend. I can’t help ya, but maybe someone will chime in….😊😊🙌
You are misinformed about the Flux Buster. It doesn't remove fuzzies from your stylus. It is used to demagnetize the former (armature) in a moving coil cartridge. It can also be used to demagnetize a step-up transformer. It can be used on moving magnet cartridges, but care must be taken to remove the stylus and associated magnet.. It is not from the 1970s. It is from the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Awesome info!!
I found it on eBay and the ad must have had some miss info. Thank you for the clarification.
Pro-jects own TT's have an upgrade option from single-ended to XLR - "Connect it 5P-C RCA Cable (Upgrade option: 5P-XLR)"
And with a little further surfing on Audio Advice's site, the Pro-Ject X1B comes fully balanced out of the box. $1,299. Damn, that might just be my next TT. I have been wondering if fully balanced was _even_ a real thing in TT's. Now we know.
Minimum balanced TT from Pro-ject, the preamp itself, the XLR/mini-XLR cable, the lowest priced Grado MC cartridge all comes to $2,292.00 to swap over to balanced and MC. Damn it, boy! This is absolutely something I'll be doing. I can break it down so it doesn't hurt so bad in one shot. It can be done preamp first, then TT, and then just run a standard RCA and a MM cartridge (I have a Grado Black). Then drop the $275 and $220 on the MC and cable respectively.
Hell yea man!! We’ve made progress today. 😍😍
@@abxaudiophiles a phono cart is inherently balanced, rega does some weird thing where they tie g to left - or right - (outside / g of rca), but most turntables without a built in phono stage where they often tie the l-&r - to g are balanced... you just make an adapter except idk the pinout for their 5 pin mini xlr, i use xlr inputs on several phono stages with adapters i made where rca tip goes to pin 2 and the shell goes to pin 3, (and g just goes to the g lug, but can be wired to pin 1). you can check continuity from l-/r-/g (l- and r- are the rca body) if they are 3 separate connections you can just make the appropriate cable and it is balanced.
edit: some carts do tie l- and r- together in the cart but it is uncommon, but most turntables with like 2 rca outs and a separate g lug are technically balanced those are the 5 pins g l- l+ r- r+, besides as i said rega or the ones with built in phono stages often make the connections single ended internally by tying the g/-s together
@@ughno2836 I can’t seem to find the balanced cable that Rega has for the p3
Its a flux capacitor, helps your turntable do 88 rpms.
Perfection.
@@abxaudiophilesI just ordered a phono box 2 , couldnt scrape the bank for a 3
@@trailtimeszr250 We have a member in our discord selling one for $75 I think. FYI.
@@abxaudiophiles Im running a Little bear T11 that i did the skunky mod to , with munford caps, and EH tubes, it sounds awesome but has that idle hum that i cant get rid of.
@@trailtimeszr250 So many phono pre amps do this.. I am not sure the answer. Even my $500 SB3 does..
Not sure if you knew but you dodged a bullet by going for the DL301MKII instead of the DL103. The DL103 needs a very heavy tonearm, the DL301MKII is a much better mechanical match for the medium mass Rega tonearm.
Good info! I did not know that, but thank you for sharing. NICE 😊
Im new to this. I just bought a X2 Balanced. If I get this and want to make it balanced, what do I need and how to hook it up to my receiver?
You would just need XLR inputs on your receiver and XLR cables.
Get the Black Ice Phono . The big one:)
A great option, I actually run a Black Ice Glass FX dac from time to time. It is currently at my PC feeding pairs of ETA headphones. :)
Funny sponsor! Lol
Gotta have fun. 😂😁
Cheap Audio Man's twin brother ?
Haha.. We actually hung out together at Axpona..
@@abxaudiophiles how long did you burn it in before you made a decision or did you like it from the get go? What xlr cables are you using on the output?
