My husband and I are just recently retired and have a retirement house in The Bahamas, so we’re snowbirds. I’ve been watching you two for the last month or so and am just so enamored of The Villages! Maybe someday we’ll get to The Villages…💭. I just love you both! Your energy and positivity should be a lesson to some of those haters!
Thank you. I'm a pretty nice Karen. I love your channel and you guys. I'm here in Indianapolis in this crazy weather, so it's nice to see palm tree weather.
The sales information you gave shouldn’t have shocked me and yet it did a little. I have a hard time wrapping my head around being ok spending far more money on a home in retirement than we have our whole working career. Sounds like a good time to take a pause and see if the market makes a correction.
*⏩ Exactly. It's a SELLER'S market which is NEVER a good time to buy a house.* Recession is on the horizon. Best to sell now and sit tight. Could save $100k or better!
Greetings from the "past its prime" area of The Villages. We have the area's only hospital, all three live theater venues, seven groceries, two town squares, 60 plus restaurants, and innumerable retail stores all within a 15 minute golf cart ride. For a golf cart community, that seems pretty prime to me.
Thank you so much for speaking up for us ladies named Karen! I'm one of the admins for a Facebook group for women named Karen, with 1800 members. We came together to support each other, as the "Karen" thing has gotten really nasty. Seeing you both speak up on this is so touching. Believe me, it means a *lot* when someone says they think it's not right to do this to our name. (I wouldn't want to see it happen to any other names, either.)
It’s quite challenging to hit the road during a power outage. Traffic lights don’t work, and intersections can be frightening! My mom lived in Lake Worth, on the 6th floor of a building that was serviced by a single elevator, during a season of at least 5 miserable hurricanes, with multiple days-long outage. Sadly, she was not able to walk stairs at that stage of her life. If not for her landline telephone and the kindness of longtime neighbors, my family up North would have been frantic! Most incredibly, having experienced WWII as a young woman, she was able to maintain calm and felt safe. Thanks for making me aware of solar tubes and golf sandals! Cool!
Love your videos, I live in the Spanish Springs area for 22 years and love it, have a premier home and cannot believe what they are selling for, more than double what we paid with a whole lot of extras and room expansions, also gas fireplace! Keep those videos coming!
I totally agree! I know several lovely women named Karen and some great guy friends named Brandon. I do not like it when people casually throw out those names in a derogatory manner. Today's show was full of great info and I loved the ride through the trees - one of the prettiest spots in The Villages.
We got our sign at Burry's ACE Hardware in Spanish Springs area, La Plaza Grande South shopping center. They have a set of designs and color schemes, you choose, and it's ready in a few days.
Another fun and informational show, Linda & Jerry AND Gizmo! You guys are just having so much fun and it's contageous. Looking forward to this Thursday's video tour of electric / lithium batteries golf carts. Cheers ☕☕
Well done on your card making Linda....that is my hobby and been doing it for over 15 yrs...thanks for sharing yours Linda. Oh by the way jerry great video.
Love each video..the fun and laughter and the love between Ms Linda and Mr Jerry ❤️ makes them glow and retirement so much better on the mind body and soul as one ages..sir gizmo is a sweetie too..bless you all for sharing
You could schedule a meet and greet at one of the regional rec centers. Each Villager can schedule and use a large ballroom once a year for free for 3 hours!
That’s exactly what I was going to suggest maybe a yearly social, I think it would be a great way also for people to meet each other and make new friends! After all they already have something in common they love watching Jerry and Linda show! There just isn’t enough hours in a day for them to meet everybody individually and I’m sure they would love to meet everybody!
Jerry, when you remarked on people complaining about the existence of The Villages, I have to say, I see these complaints all the time on various channels. So many folks telling people not to move to their area, wherever that might be. I understand their wish that their area can stay the same, and housing prices won’t go up, but let’s be real. Expect change and welcome newcomers! I love your channel for your positivity.
I agree with Linda, music near peoples homes is just rude. My Karen is my beautiful loving sister and I am not keen on the negativity that has come with ugly actions by others and calling them Karens.
Now trying to convince my husband to go for a lifestyle visit. WA state went through a tough winter. Although it is now May 2, 2022, I'm not sure winter is done.
The most wonderful thing about solar tube, is that you don't have to use electric lights.... you don't have to turn the lights on in the bathroom in the middle of the light, the star light is enough to see what you have to do. No wheel in showers in regular homes, only designer homes. To upgrade your shower in an older home is reasonably priced. Doorways are wide, and floors are all on one level. Re: the turnpike noise. If you don't want to have a home impacted by the turnpike noise; don't buy a home near the turnpike. You have many options here in the villages. The older sections are very nice, and some of us, prefer the older sections, for lots of reasons.
I’ve seen the open wheel-in showers recently in the new courtyard villas and veranda homes. I think it’s the norm now for the primary bathroom in new builds in TV. I love them!
I love the neutrality in Jerry’s answers and his practical advise no matter the topic I always learn something! There will never be a shortage of topics for your show all the questions that people write in the 2500+ clubs the constant building expansion developments etc.. as well as all of the things to do outside of the villages!
We are in St. Catherine. During day can barely hear turnpike as the sound of golf cars and vehicles on neighborhood roads drowns the turnpike out. At night when local traffic abates and weather allows the windows to be open can definitely hear the turnpikes steady hum. I would rather not, but being from Chicago I’ve lived with way worse surrounding community noise. My favorite noise, the dads on our block yelling at us kids to get off their lawn.
Laving Franklin TN to come to The Villages, hmmmm, I don't know about that, but different strokes as they say. Uhhh, traffic, jump on I-4 for a fun experience, or even US 27 if you come down for visit.
My sales agent gave me a gift certificate to get my sign. He's a terrific agent! Recently had a street named after him by The Villages, Lazdowsky Way. Shout out to Steve Lazdowsky! 😎 Oh Linda I make greeting cards too. Every two weeks I go to card making class at Laural Manor Rec. I just love it! That's one of the things I do here in The Villages keeping busy. Nice joke Giz......anti-bodies! Loved it! ❤
You showing each other the card you picked out for each other …. I tried to get my husband to do that, but he wasn’t in favor of it. I think it’s a great idea, not just to save money, but to save storage space! I do make cards on my computer, though. I loved the golfing one Linda made. I love Gizmo❣️
I love how you both seem to have such a great time making the videos. Laughter is the best way to stay young (and sun, and sport, and good company, and Living in the Villages). Sun tubes are FANTASTIC. I had one that was also linked to to a rechargeable battery so that at night we had light - but then we didn't need it as the moon made the room much brighter than the electric light. Cool Cards.
Always great you two, I’m always astounded when I hear the Stats on Homes in TV’s, you made the move at the right time. I agree with you on the Benefits of Living near The Villages. Have a great week.
I live in a 55+ in Texas, purchased a resale garden home 9 years ago come fall. I couldn't afford to buy in here today! I could sell it now for around 100K more than I paid for it. If I did I'd have to spend at least that much for another home somewhere else. Gonna stay where I am until I go out "feet first". That's OK cuz I love my home and location!
OMG!!! Jerry you SCARED my dogs today! I was drinking my morning tea and you told story about anniversary card shopping and SO FUNNY I choked on my tea and HOWLED with laughter... HILARIOUS!!!! Another GREAT show and Gizmo, we LOVED your joke!
Hi guys, always a great job...I would like to tell your fans about Travel here. The Workmen buses have day and multi day trips available through the website...we have enjoyed many trip outside of the area to explore all the best of this beautiful state has to offer.
Hey guys, thanks for sharing my son’s and my picture at Gatorland. Bryan was thrilled. My wife and I are camping right now at Jerry Campground in Port Canaveral. We had no idea cruise ships are so big. The cruise your doing came to mind. If you do one next year and we have ample notice, we’d love to join you. Oh, by the way, discussing music at the pools? I love hard rock/heavy metal. But such a nice guy I am, I’d play sixties/seventies O grew up with. My wife loves country. My son likes punk.
I love the anniversary card idea ❤️❤️❤️ I’m going to start that tradition with my husband! Its such a waste of money to buy cards that end up in the trash.
Lolol about the greeting cards, my husband and I recycle the cards we gave each other over the years, switch them and give them to each other of all occasions the following year. Because we are getting older I think every card is a new card. I do like your idea as well . That might be next .
Great video as always. Good information too. My wife and I do same thing as cards are expensive. Gotta save money wherever you could. That drive up at Laurel springs reminds me of places in St Augustine with Spanish moss in the trees. The housing costs are crazy expensive across the country. Also great response about using someone's name when acting negative, Always enjoy Gizmos jokes too.
We had a weekly bocce ball league at work. We’d play once a week in the Summer. The host team each week is responsible for providing the meal. BYOB. One of the few sports you can play with a beer in your hand 👍🏼
Thank you, Jerry for the Karen comment. One of my best friends is named Karen and she is one of the kindest people I know. I would be so upset if my name was used that way; it's just rude.
Nice going guys. With regards the Spanish Springs area, as an example, the Paradise Rec Center (first one) is scheduled to be either remodeled or rebuild completely. Current discussion is which way to go with budget talks in the $18.5 to $19.5 millions dollars project cost. Silver Lake Rec center just got new pool tables. Spanish Spring Town Square is as vibrant and entertaining as any other. Most (if not all) shows/acts rotate among all squares. Saludos !!!
Last time we visited The Villages we stayed at the TownePlace Suites in Spanish Springs. We went to the Paradise Family pool. We loved the town square. Spent lots of money at the Flip Flop store. I can see how the Paradise rec center is dated and needs updating, but the folks were sure friendly. That never goes stale.
I will have to check out the card making next year looks like fun….we just had to leave the villages early as clumsy me got my foot caught trying to get off an ebike and boom down I went and broke my elbow….was so upset to leave the beautiful green….so happy I have you to watch good job 👍
You guys are so sincere. So likable. Especially Gizmo. I really appreciate your You Tube channel. I do not think it is a good idea to put your names in the front of your house. So many scammers prey on the elderly. It is not good to give out information to them. A similar example would be kids with their names largely embroidered on their knapsacks. I am not including a small tag to identify lost bags.
Thanks for the video. Would you please do a tour of the rec center I hear you talk about and I would also like to see vendor days? I was also wondering if your parents if still around and live in The Villages. I am sorry if they are not.
I grew up in Louisville Kentucky, and my brother and his family had a small farm in Floyds knobs Indiana. On Sundays, the Catholic churches throughout Indiana had festivals to raise money which included fried chicken dinners. My parents were big on traveling throughout the area to sample the various offerings. To your knowledge do these Sunday festivals still exist?
I would like to thank you both again for all the info. I feel you have prepared us for our move in May. We will see you when we get there! I was dying at your anniversary card story! Can’t stop laughing! We might incorporate that practice in the future….haha
I have told my daughter "I don't care how much I love you, I am NOT paying $6.00 for a card for anybody". This was back when Hallmark charged this amount. I saw a pop-up card by them in the grocery today that cost $12.99! They are out of their minds if they think I will pay that for a card, I don't care how cute, pretty, sentimental etc. it is.......
You may not have kids but everyone benefits from educating everyone’s children. Who is going to staff your restaurants, provide every service you can imagine.
I have been binge watching all your videos and learned so much. Thank you.

I made Linda’s Meatloaf Candy for dinner tonight. I can describe it in one word: outstanding!! Thanks.

Thanks for sticking up for the Karenś of the world, my dear Karen is GREAT
Thank you for the Karen call out!
If the AC goes out you would be safe because you have 1000’s of fans!
😁😁😁😁 We see what you did there!! 🤣🤣🤣😍😍
Another great video!😎🇺🇸😀😀Steven from Boston!
Love that you spoke about the "Karen" thing - thank you!!!
I'm happy to hear your opinion on the Karen subject. My daughter Karen is very offended by this. Thanks
Hysterical card exchange! Smart!💕❤️💕❤️
Oh this was a great idea! It looks lovely there. (I'm dizzy now though) LOL

Love the solar tube. Only problem is trying to “ turn off “ the light durning the day🤣
I think if you pick the right rooms it would not be a problem. Example, bathrooms, kitchens etc. of course, these rooms would not have a window.
