  • Detroit has been called "one of the country's best-kept secrets." and we agree. Detroit has a terrible reputation, but as shown in our other video, Why We Love Detroit, it is a city undergoing a resurgence.
Today I'll talk about the top 10 reasons why now's a good time to move to Detroit, Michigan. I will even show you some of those homes for sale for under $5,000. In fact, home prices have doubled in the last 4 years!
Now I don't deny Detroit has its problems, and we are making a separate video about the cons of moving to Detroit, but this video is all about why Detroit would make a great place to live.
Thanks so much for watching! If you enjoyed this video, hit the subscribe button and ring the bell so you are notified each time we release a new video. If you have any questions, please reach out in the comments below, we love staying in touch with our audience.

My house has gone up 25% in 3 years. I don’t sleep with a gun and my insurance isn’t $8000. My mortgage is $548/month. I was paying $950 for an apartment. I live in a 1800 sq ft brick home that was built to last. I tell people I live in Detroit and they ask why? They don’t know because they have a negative image of it. The turn around of this city in just ten years has been unbelievable. But a $5000 house is not where I would want to live.

i am in and out of Detroit. I love the city. This video was real. Noting that work needs to continue to be done is obvious, but so much has been accomplished and there are so many projects that are near completion. Most people are very proud, excited, and can't wait to see what is coming next!

The thing is you want neighbors and a group of people to invest. The “ urban prairie life” is scary being a sitting duck lone house with no neighbors, street lights, or police coming and druggies burning adjacent houses down. I think Architects and developers need to get in and by land lots in a row and create their designs as a showcase. Small home living. Tiny homes. Etc. The city needs to promote and advertise this to architects all over America or world , but they need to hire more city professionals for permitting and contract approvals to expedite the building process.

I love Detroit , been here downtown for 16 years, we have no intention of moving, it has everything we love, pro sports, great restaurants, world class museums and entertainement, wonderful biking and running trails , beautiful Riverfront nearby, Eastern market, great shopping, and extremely nice people and neighbors. We love the four seasons also. Why move anywhere else? All of the pretty affordable price, even though they’re going up quickly.

@@praise_lord_jesus_christ , Of course there is crime here, there’s crime everywhere, and of course there’s homeless , however we don’t have large encampment anywhere along the city like you see in many of the other cities, it just doesn’t exist on our main streets, you see the occasion ones here and there and of course there are some in the inner-city neighborhoods. Downtown and Midtown there are no sidewalk and tent cities. You will see from time to time individuals on corners but it most certainly isn’t on every street, and it tends to be one or two and that’s it. Basically what you see from coast to coast in America no matter what state you’re in today sadly

They have torn down so so many. Urban prairies just blocks in. There has been a horrible culture of burning houses. Drug addicts burn. They bulldozed and did not salvage beautiful details. Gone. Current and previous mayors trying to remove blight which is good but little grandmas are sitting in single houses in the middle of a prairie.

I think if you buy a home in Detroit you'll always find yourself in the suburbs for shopping and on your way up n back to your house from a shopping trip looking over your shoulder , pausing at stop signs and probably running a few red lights while always keeping your head on a swivel for the bad guys.

If you buy a house in a run down area, which I wouldn’t advise, but that’s overkill running red lights. Stay on the freeway and main streets and you’ll be fine. Buy in a decent area with like minded neighbors. You can tell by how well they keep up the exterior of their house. Lastly, your head should always be on a swivel wherever you’re at.

Then there's the crime everyone is killing each other. The only thing money has been put in is downtown. I don't know why this guy is conning people into moving to Detroit but I know about Detroit more than he does I lived there most of my life and I still go there to visit relatives and I don't live far away. Like the old saying goes nice place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there. And I'm skeptical about saying nice place to visit.
