My mom is a survivor of sexual, physical, and mental abuse. She was molested by various family members as a child, and was called a liar when trying to speak up about it. As a male victim of sexual, physical and emotional violence throughout his life, it's a damned good song already without the context which only adds gravity to the power of the vocal lyric. Remarkable talent, remarkable stories all around. You're not alone, you're not twisted or damaged goods, your demons become chains that drag you down. Release yourself through whatever method you feel is right as long as the cycle of abuse ends with yourself. I refuse to become a link in someone else's chains, mine weigh heavily enough on my soul as is.

People always asked why as an adult I didnt just leave... Because when i was there i was the target , when i left it was my mother. The day it stopped I saw him hit her, and i saw red, I was ripping him apart according to the sheriff. The only part i remember was kicking his head threw the drywall before blacking out. Unfortunately i didnt kill him but he has been alone ever since...
DA didn't press charges on me as he had broken a protective order and had broken in.
It was my ex-step-dad, New one used to play Santa Claus and is the sweetest fellow.

this song is great. it also reminded me of something that happened a long time ago. I had a very abusive ex, who thought violence was a way to express love for someone and she broke the very fabric of me. to this day I still feel those effects. but what hit the hardest was "and the worst part is I forgive, say its fine" as that was exactly how I felt at the time, that it was normal for a relationship to be like that. this is a very powerful song and between this & the mirror I feel very connected to these songs.

Oh my God . My father was a horrible man . 20 plus yrs after he passed away he had power over me . I remember everything to the T . This hit home big time and until we were old enough to defend ourselves and our mother he never laid a hand on us again but still abused us mentally n spiritually . I know it's over but still . Every day I'm healing and taking the power back .

This song draws so many emotions, I grew up with abuse, my parents refuse to acknowledge it. I feel power and anger from this song. After 27 years I finally stood up for myself and my world shattered (not in a bad way) now I'm slowly rebuilding that world brick by brick. I've learned what family really is, I've learned strength and bravery. I love this song
The production quality on this needs a content warning for being absolutely killer without even going into the subject matter. Holy smokes you guys just keep on raising the bar and it worked so well with the company you picked to use. i feel like this is the prequel to The Mirror, as the prequel to Demons Come To Life. the religious trauma and abuse that children suffer in their youth turns to mental health problems, as we see Addie struggle with in The Mirror before she ultimately goes insane and gives in to her inner demons in Demons Come To Life. idk tho but it’s soooo good!! 💛💛
My mother survived 27 years of abuse at the hands of my father Unit she finally found the strength to stand up and left. As someone who was raised Catholic and told to just look the other way and forget… The level this song hits home is unmatched. The lyrics are an absolute masterpiece and the video really captures the powerful story being told here. Brad's scream was a punch to the gut but in the best way possible. When a song hits you, it hits hard. Reminds me of my childhood. So glad I broke the cycle and am not repeating what my dad did to my mom, brothers and myself. Alcoholism and physical abuse are no joke when you've witnessed and experienced it first hand. I made it my goal in life to be a better influence to my kids. I'm proud of where I am today. The scars are there to remind us how far we've come.

My father physically abused me until I was old enough to fight back, as a child I watched him torture my mother, sadly after I fought back he left and vanished never to truly face justice, this song resonates powerfully with me absolutely amazing and powerful, top notch vocals and we'll paced music to match keep going guys love from the UK

This hits hard, for I've been abused as a teen by a boyfriend who luckily went out of the picture, but still a decade after that, I twitch a little bit when someone makes fast movements next to me. I do it unconsciously, which reminds me that's a scar which won't ever fade away completely, but I'm here now surrounded by ppl who love me, achieving my goals and feeling better than ever.

I went through that exact situation as a young boy. One of the hardest decisions A child should never have to make is one to defend his siblings and mom from their father. I was maybe middle school age. It’s the reason I chose to do what I do today. There will always be a piece of me lost in the chaos of the worst night of my life. If I can save someone from not loosing a piece of them on theirs then I accomplish the mission
