I went through that exact situation as a young boy. One of the hardest decisions A child should never have to make is one to defend his siblings and mom from their father. I was maybe middle school age. It’s the reason I chose to do what I do today. There will always be a piece of me lost in the chaos of the worst night of my life. If I can save someone from not loosing a piece of them on theirs then I accomplish the mission

Im a 39 yo bloke , survivor of mental and emotional and physical abuse. I lost my faith during this ordeal but This song makes me cry every time i hear it. People always asked why as an adult I didnt just leave... Because when i was there i was the target , when i left it was my mother. The day it stopped I saw him hit her, and i saw red, I was ripping him apart according to the sheriff. The only part i remember was kicking his head threw the drywall before blacking out. Unfortunately i didnt kill him but he has been alone ever since... DA didn't press charges on me as he had broken a protective order and had broken in.

I had a very abusive ex, who thought violence was a way to express love for someone and she broke the very fabric of me. to this day I still feel those effects. but what hit the hardest was "and the worst part is I forgive, say its fine" as that was exactly how I felt at the time, that it was normal for a relationship to be like that. this is a very powerful song and between this & the mirror I feel very connected to these songs.

After 27 years I finally stood up for myself and my world shattered (not in a bad way) now I'm slowly rebuilding that world brick by brick. When a song hits you, it hits hard. Reminds me of my childhood. So glad I broke the cycle and am not repeating what my dad did to my mom, brothers and myself. Alcoholism and physical abuse are no joke when you've witnessed and experienced it first hand. I made it my goal in life to be a better influence to my kids. I'm proud of where I am today. The scars are there to remind us how far we've come.

I remember coming across you guys over a decade ago. You guys wrote fun pop punk tracks... But this track shows how far you all have come. It's so heavy, not in the sense that the music is heavy. But the emotions that pull the strings to this track. You all are on the peak of your talents with this track and you guys delivered such a beautiful yet haunting tune that feels like it has no end. this video really brings up a lot of emotions. my dad was my mom and i’s abuser; she got out when i was 10 but wasn’t able to get me out before he was able to manipulate everyone into believing she was a bad mother and got me taken from her. i’m an only child, so i was alone with and abused by him in every way imaginable for 6 years. nobody believed me, not even my own grandparents, who still loved their ex son in law until they heard him threaten to hit me themselves. i managed to get out in july of 2020, right after i turned 18, and had to rebuild my entire life from the ground up. i had to learn to drive, apply for jobs, and even applied to colleges late because he never let me do any of that stuff. the memories of what he did still follow me every day and healing is constant. he never took accountability for what he did, i never got an apology from him, and i never will. but i have gotten better since i moved out, and for everyone who is still recovering or hasn’t managed to get out yet, know that it DOES get better. it might be slow and frustrating, but healing does happen. much love ♥️

I went through that exact situation as a young boy. One of the hardest decisions A child should never have to make is one to defend his siblings and mom from their father. I was maybe middle school age. It’s the reason I chose to do what I do today. There will always be a piece of me lost in the chaos of the worst night of my life. If I can save someone from not loosing a piece of them on theirs then I accomplish the mission

this song is great. it also reminded me of something that happened a long time ago. I had a very abusive ex, who thought violence was a way to express love for someone and she broke the very fabric of me. to this day I still feel those effects. but what hit the hardest was "and the worst part is I forgive, say its fine" as that was exactly how I felt at the time, that it was normal for a relationship to be like that. this is a very powerful song and between this & the mirror I feel very connected to these songs.

this video really brings up a lot of emotions. my dad was my mom and i’s abuser; she got out when i was 10 but wasn’t able to get me out before he was able to manipulate everyone into believing she was a bad mother and got me taken from her. i’m an only child, so i was alone with and abused by him in every way imaginable for 6 years. nobody believed me, not even my own grandparents, who still loved their ex son in law until they heard him threaten to hit me themselves. i managed to get out in july of 2020, right after i turned 18, and had to rebuild my entire life from the ground up. i had to learn to drive, apply for jobs, and even applied to colleges late because he never let me do any of that stuff. the memories of what he did still follow me every day and healing is constant. he never took accountability for what he did, i never got an apology from him, and i never will. but i have gotten better since i moved out, and for everyone who is still recovering or hasn’t managed to get out yet, know that it DOES get better. it might be slow and frustrating, but healing does happen. much love ♥️
