Star Trek ships in general are ridiculously maneuverable for their size. The galaxy is 600+m long, 400+m wide and almost 300m tall, but it can maneuver like an X-wing and make it look easy. Star Trek ships run circles around Star Wars ships and many other more "realistic" sci-fi.
Still alot of life in the old girl yet:) was'nt expecting much action in the finale as I thought there would be no budget left after they rebuilt the bridge set so this was a nice surprise, loved how they all looked at Beverly as if to say WTF!
Yeah & her line in response was perfect. Was a proper moment of Next Gen nostalgia..... Did you notice how going inside the borg cube was very similar to the Death Star run in Return of the Jedi

Oh yeah defenetly got the Death Star II Trench Run vibes, was not expecting that:) Was abit surprised that the older weapons were having an effect, but I guess looking at the state of borg queen, the collective as a whole is on there death bed and just in no shape to stop any kind of attack. Unlike Voyagers Endgame I feel like this is a proper Finality to The Borg, There gone for good this time I feel! Janeway hit them hard and then Picard delivered the final deathblow.

Seven would be a good candidate and example for them that there is life after assimmilation. Like that voyager episode that found the cube with only borg children aboard, there was that one kid being the boss who just wanted to return to the collective because he did'nt know anything else. Imagine that but on a larger scale. I will been fine either way, Borg are a great villian, I do think the Queen is done though! Also im not 100% sure but was that the Queens original physical form in season 3 , or her last botched attempted at making a new body because of Janeways pathogen? I was getting the vibes that was her real form before the birth of the collective.

Very radical design departure from the A,B,C, the C being a forced intermediate design. Given the layout, shape and organic design of the D, it looks like it should be somewhere between the G and J (potential future Enterprise shown to Archer) To me, the Ent E appears a descendant of the A, the F an evolution, the G returning to a neck and secondary hull with curves, leading to the curvaceous D
I'm so happy that Picard season 3 undid all of the BS from the past 20+ years. But seeing the D fly around like that damn near put a tear in my eye. So fucking gorgeous
If ever there was a more fitting ship to save the galaxy again it is the Enterprise D. The Galaxy Class ship still got it and knocks the Borg out for the count.
That ship, its crew and their sometimes ludicrous adventures made my childhood all the more special. Id see them everyday after school on whatever mission they were on and it was my daily routine to watch them do their thing. I still love that ship, I still love that crew and Picard season 3 made me realise I could still love Star Trek too. As long as they honour the past like this, then ill enjoy seeing the franchise march into the future 🖖

I was disappointed. I much prefer the old style of Combat we see in TNG where the camera is much closer in on the ship. This was typical "over-kill" modern day style where everything has to be super fast, and over the top. It's more Star Wars style combat these days. I prefer the 90s style

I loved season 3, and it was great to see the Enterprise D in action, but the Death Star run was a biiiit far for me. The Enterprise D is massive, and it managed to weave its way through to the centre of a Borg ship? A runabout would have made more sense, but this was fan service getting in the way.

Most of the fleet was wrecked and the D was working. They should have put her back in service and made that the ship for Star Trek Legacy. Shaw as captain and Seven as XO would have worked great. Sidney La Forge at the helm, etc etc. Perfect. They could keep that beautiful recreated set and have happy fans and just print money. But they don't seem to care about succeeding, do they?
No part of that made sense. It would have been blown apart in seconds. Maybe if they had upgraded the ships shields and weapons and a cloak and added an ablative armour generator n had seven insert her tubules and do some funky borg stuff but that ship could in no way survive a borg attack as lovely as seeing the Enterprise D was it was also a dumb scene
Normal Assimilation Cubes like the one in QWho and BOBW are 3km along each side. Use the measurement of Starbase Yorktown from ST Beyond, which was 18 miles in diamter to give us comparitive measurements here. The E-D is 642 m long. This cube looks likeit's roughly the size of the moon or even as large as Earth itself (based on the scale in the eye of Jupiter, which can contain 3 planet Earths within it's cyclone.
Just occurred to me... To optimize their chances, they would have definitely ditched the saucer section for this assault. 😅 Ah, well... Loved seeing the full D in action one more time.
I think the Battle Bridge fell into disuse as Starfleet learned that it's generally not a good tactic to leave the saucer defenseless. In The Best of Both Worlds, as early as TNG Season 3-4, we hear Riker shoot down Shelby's saucer-sep proposal because he wants to keep the ship together to be able to use the saucer's impulse engines for reserve power. It could be that inertial dampening and static warp bubble technology has improved to make the mass of the ship not matter (pun intended), therefore maximum power is preferable to minimum size.
They should have Called this season of picard star trek: resurrection. They brought Data back in way that was good and The Enterprise D Got her Grand send-off and Brought Picard Back more to who he truly is and the borg felt scary again too and we got Q again. Great season. It had faults but it was Picards best season and it has the majority of the fans Old and Newer fans wanting more and that great. liked season 1 also.yes it had alotta faults but it was ok. Season too was just bad overall,it had good ideas but they just didn't do it well and it could have been good if written better.
It wasn't even at half power, and the bulk of its resources were using Jack as a transceiver to control the Federation Fleet trying to obliterate Earth.

With all their limited power directed to securing a new collective, the D and the Crew where able to exploit this lapse in judgement and priorities to cripple them forever. Thus the collective in this transmitter cube didn't have the usual processing capability to adapt to the weapons of the D as they had done in the past
[sigh] A Galaxy-class starship is not an X-wing. This just demonstrates that the animators had no idea how this massive hunk of metal can and cannot move. I mean, in _Star Trek Online_ alone, have you ever tried to stop or turn one? It takes awhile, even with the proper consoles boosting Turn Rate and Speed, none of which Geordi would have thought to install into a museum piece. But then choosing the _D_ was ridiculous in the first place, given they're fighting the Borg, and _Voyager_ and _Defiant_ were both available too. Yes, the episode looks amazing, and is the best of _STP_ . But the rest of _STP_ set such a low bar, when you step back from the nostalgia, at least in my experience, you realize just how poorly all this was written and executed. As much as it felt good to see the _D_ that I grew up with again, the plot is incredibly stupid, and should have been prevented by regular maintenance checks, and also by detecting the changes in Picard's DNA when they first rescued him as Locutus. Beverley herself even mentioned the changes then.
The Defiant and Voyager wouldn't of worked, since they're museum pieces, they potentially have no defense or offensive systems in them. And this can be forgiven, considering she was blown up by a 75 year old BoP, that should've gotten its ass handed to it with no real effort. If anything, this is making up for that absolute stupidity from Generations, just to make way for a ship they felt would look better on the big screen.
While I agree the animators had no idea how big the D is, this kind of maneuvering is possible for Trek ships. With all their inertia dampening technologies and other treknobabble, it is possible to have Trek ships behave like star fighters and it's been done before. Not to this extent, but Trek ships can run circles around SW ships any day of the week and leave them in the dust in real space. Even SW fighters would have a hard time catching up to a Trek ship that doesn't want to be caught.
