- This is the tell all and show all for how to make the Donnie Camp Donnie Donuts! Old Maine Homemade Donut Recipe.
Watch the man make them himself.
RECIPE:
Beat 2 Eggs.
Add 1 Cup Sugar
5 TBLSPN Welted Shortening
4 Cups Flour
4 TSPN Baking Powder (Or Baking Soda + Bakewell Cream)
Nutmeg
Cinnamon
Vanilla
Pure maple Syrup
1/4 TSPN Salt
1 Cup Milk
Bring Lard or Oil to 350f. Float Donuts for a few minutes until golden brown.
Roll in Sugar, Nutmeg, Cinnamon mixture after frying.

The pond behind my parents house provided much of my entertainment when growing up and one of the things my friends and I liked to do was play hockey on that pond. We spent most of the day on the ice and only came in when my parents let us know it was time to call it quits for the day by shutting of the lights that illuminated the skating area. Every once and a while my mother would come down to the pond with her homemade donuts and hot cocoa. Anyone noticing her would shout out her arrival followed by "I think she has donuts"! What a treat!

Hey Joe and Donny! Ken here from Nova Scotia. My wife has one of her grandmothers cook books. Her grandmother was a cook in her younger years at lumber camps. She wrote in this book the recipe for a pie or cake and in the directions she wrote to set whatever it was on a flat rock out back of where she was working at that time to cool. I love homemade doughnuts and I bet the ones made in the bush were better.

Used to love doughnuts but since having some difficulties with diabetes I've had to stop eating them! Homemade vs a chain store like Dunkin would just taste so much better though, plus I could probably reduce the sugar that's on a homemade one!

Joe! You forgot the milk in the description! Tried twice and failed until I figured that out. Will not work without the milk. My fault for not looking at the original recipe I guess. Try again another time. Cannot wait to try again.
