You are the man I have nothing but respect for your craft. I just got 2 antique bikes today. 2 seater back from the 50”s and a cruiser bike from the 70’s both are rusty. I never restored bikes before. You just motivated me

Such a beautiful bike. The frame arc from the headset, past the seat and down to the back wheel hub is just so aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

I had a similar frame w/ that exact same stem that my Dad found in the junkyard and built it up with random salvaged parts. It a 20" wheeled bike and it had that exact style of crank and the skip chain chainring. My Dad hand filed every other tooth out of the rear gear and had an old skip chain he had found somewhere. I rode that bike all through the 70's until I cracked it from jumping wooden ramps.

Hello and many greetings from Germany 🇩🇪 You did an incredible job and I looked up the saddle and fell over what they cost today. So it’s definitely worthwhile restoring these old things, because as you said they have stories to tell. I think when you dived into the work you made your ideas who has ridden the bike . Take care and stay healthy and: keep on going 👍🍀🌞🚲🚲

  • @joeldumas5861

    4 cross spoke lacing😊!
It means that from the hub to the rim, every "pulling" spoke would cross 4 "pushing" spokes.
As a young cyclist, i once read somewhere that this was by far 4 the best pattern, much better than the standard 3 cross.
So it became like an obsession. And I managed to respoke all my bicycles: back wheel, front wheel, road race bike, track, even bicycles provided by my sponsor brand!
Not sure it enhanced my performances, pretty sure no one noticed, but I kind of was proud of it.
Thank you for reminding me of my competition years.
