Something I thought was on the simpler side to paint since it was all black in tone, you showed can look marvelous and so detailed. Amazing work Master Sorastro. I'm always astonished! Thank you for these videos!
I love these tutorials. I've learned so much and you have helped me improve my own painting skills. I did my own Venom following your vid, with a few of my own tweeks. But tragedy struck when I went to clear coat him to protect the paintjob. Instead of clear coat I sprayed half with white primer.
Just wowed every time, not only the painting jobs are always immaculate, but the music and video production value are second to none. Also, would just like to say thanks, as my 5 year old daughter really enjoys watching the videos with me which is turning out to be a bit of a bedtime bonding routine. 👍
I love your paintwork, it is inspiring!!! I've watched your past painting tutorials and applied them in painting custom 1/12 heads!! This Venom looks amazing, thank you for sharing!!!
I saw your pictures of Venom on BGG and was really hoping to see this video when I got to UA-cam. Some much great inspiration on pushing the contrast over large black areas. I'll be experimenting with this style for my Venom here soon.
Still love your videos man! You and MarcoFrisoni are my two main painting channels ... In your case, I really enjoy your format, presentation and voice. I love how you first show and describe in summary what you did, and what we can expect to see you do in the video to come. Your production vallue with the thematic splash screens really adds to the viewing experience, and I think your painting style is very easy to follow and adapt to other projects. All narrated very soothingly, with some awesome music. Awesome! Take care.
Hey Sorastro, I notice you’re still using a brush to transfer inks/washes onto your palette. Have you ever tried using pipettes? My gf turned me onto them, they’ve made transferring my shades for thinning and mixing so much easier! Just a friendly suggestion.
Thanks Jordan! These days most of my paints come from dropper bottle to be honest (because I use a lot of Vallejo and Scalecolor paints) but I do use a pipette for mixing large quantities of Shade etc. :)
I’m not a Venom fan. Until Sorastro put paint to brush and started his magic. Remarkably eye popping work as always Maestro. Fun fact: I was the tongue model for this figure. All Sorastro had to do was put some crispy pork belly in front of me ...
This was a really helpful video, I'll definitely use the purple base tone -> blue highlights scheme next time i need to add visual interest to a large swath of black.
As always, you have done a wonderful job, both on the painting and the video 👍 Your advices for painting a mainly black miniature are come in handy, black isn't the most easiest color
I LOVE this tutorial :-D I'm just now re-painting a Disney Skylanders Venom figure for a client, after they saw my re-painted Skylanders Hulkbuster figure (Great for adding to the Crisis Protocols game, but you'd have to make some stats/rules up first. Still, mine took on one of my Hulks the other day, the Red Hulk I painted first, and the scale is right, but HB still got his armoured butt handed to him. Back to the stat sheets to make him more of a challenge, it seems :->) I have just got to paint the Venom figure from this set now, after seeing this, as he is just so awesome to look at, and pretty scary when compared to the rest of the figures in the sets.
Hi! I will be covering many more MCP minis; me aware that I'm covering many of them as PDF guides over on my website also: sorastro.com/2020/02/01/spider-man-pdf-painting-guide/ 😀
Praise the lord! You didn't just slap some contrast paint on there and call it a day. You, sir, are an art-teeeeest! Love your vids. Would like to some some close ups of when you do the skin, so we can appreciate the technique and how you place the highlights, as black is an absolute bugger to paint. I doff my cap to you, sir.
Hi Sorastro, love the videos! Always the best extra details to make your minis look most amazing. I was wondering if you could tell me what camera you use for the close up detail shots? Thanks
Love the video - you’ve always been a huge inspiration to me. I’ve noticed in the past few months you switched from Rosemary & Co series 33 size 2 to series 8 size 2. Do you prefer the new series 8? I’m looking at getting a nicer quality sable hair brush. I got into mini painting because I want to paint my Godtear minis, you should check out the game! Thanks for everything you do!
Thanks a lot Mark! Yes I switched to the Series 8 some time ago, and they are now my preferred brush. They really have a beautiful point, and a nice bit of "snap" to them. :)
hello as usual i really love your work but your music almost more.i really love the marvel way for your music. will you including this musics in one of your futur album?
Thanks so much! Yes - I'm a little behind with my album releases as they take quite a bit of time to mix (and cost to have professionally mastered), but I'll eventually get the music released... :)
Thanks David! Typically yes, although lately I've been experimenting with using some Flow Enhanver (I really like the Daler-Rowney one which I introduced back in episode 1) :)
Hi! I sometimes use a hair dryer - perhaps to speed up the drying time when using Shades etc, but the regular highlights dry pretty quick so I can just work continuously without needed to dry each layer as I go.. :)
Hi Nick! That's a good question! I simply wanted to find ways of adding interest to an otherwise fairly dull colour scheme. Plus the modulation of colours also helps add a sense of depth and volume. :)
@@Sorastro thank you for the reply! Is there a reason why say purple as opposed to blue or red? Just wanting to understand the theory behind it .all good if it's just artistic taste. Love you crisis miniature videos!
Did you paint your toon before watching the Sorastro video for it? Ok, go find a how to strip your mini video and learn from your mistake. All jokes aside love the purple to blue transitions here, great work!
Sorastro's Painting this ..and the whole series is going to be an extremely valuable asset in a year when I paint Marvel *United because you absolutely nailed Venom’s colors. Bravo.
Hi! I just use the Rosemary & Co Series 8 Size 2 for everything. However, I usually have several on the go, and might use an older one that's lost some hairs so become thinner for things like that :)
@@Sorastro I guess I'm switching over to Rosemary now. Your painting is exquisite and the way you edit the videos makes watching very relaxing for the eyes and ears. Keep doing what you do.
"Wondering why the spider has 10 legs". Well, maybe because the official web has also it painted like it has 10 legs... :D Amazing tutorial. Thanks a lot!
Thanks for the feedback Lorenzo! I wanted the more green/blue tones for the highlights as they're more luminous, whilst I find that purple usually works best as a shadow tone, but each to their own :D
I see Peter Parker was in a bad mood and thumbed this video down 😜 but that's okay he can do that 😉 This is the first one I don't love either. Vemon is-a-sposed to be BLACK-PURPLE-BLUE'ish. But I'll die before I ever thumb-down one of your vidoes... even if Pete is be'n a butt-head! 🤐 Dammit Parker!
Ha ha - thanks Joe! I'm not sure I agree with the idea that there's a strict "supposed to" be this or that colour when it comes to these characters as they've been represented in so many different ways across the comics and movies, but I totally accept (and expect) that not everyone will like my colour choices, and I appreciate your taking the time to articulate what you don't like about how I painted Venom rather than just giving a blind thumb down. :D
Sorasto is the reason I pick up games with minis to paint. Thank you so much for existing and sharing the world your amazing work.
That's very kind - thank you! :)

thank goodness you are still doing this series, love to see you tackle the other models
Hi Michael! I'm really passionate about M:CP so I'll be committing to it for a nice long time to come.. :)

Ah, I see you’ve already been doing them. 🤗
Yay!

Now I’ve gotta go back and repaint my Venom. Also completely missed the abdomen detail with the spider cos I didn’t bother to count the legs...
Ha yeh, the example painted on the AMG website also has 10 legs which threw me.. :)
I don't play this game but your videos make me want to get into it, nice job

Is there an Electro figure?
Thank you! There isn't yet, but they have a very regular release schedule of new figures so I'm sure it's only a matter of time... :D
