I love this interview, even 2 years later. The questions and dialogue are terrific; well done. Kevin is a lovely man. He is thoughtful, articulate, and intelligent. Inspiring conversation - thank you! 🙏🏻
I was in love with Kevin since I was high school student after I watched the film of Madonna and dancers. You made me Gay. I still love you very much Kevin ❤
Great, informative interview! I have never heard of Madonna chipping off her tooth in Chicago. Thanks for sharing. Kevin sounds like a very hard-working, chill guy. Yes, We love Madonna, but I greatly admire him to standing up to her and getting his contractal settlement in the end.

I just listened to Christopher Ciccone’s book this afternoon in full so naturally my feed is focused on Madonna now. Lovely to come across this interview with Kevin. My dream, as a child, was to be Janet Jackson’s backup dancer. I became an HR human though. Close enough 🤣 Kevin is lovely and it is fascinating to hear his incredible experience during that iconic time.
@@timetotalkaustralia it’s abismal 😫🤣 although I am the least HR person you’d ever meet probably to my own detriment at times. I emphasize the human part over anything else
Thanks for the lovely discussion! It's nice to see the perspective of the people who are often almost disregarded as background noise to the main artist as the main attraction - it really humanizes them! (Next up: "We interviewed Kylie's lighting technician" or smth like that XD) From the title, I almost expected to see both of you dragging Madonna for 90 minutes and some of your questions were definitely aiming for a little bit of provocation~, so I was really surprised how charitable your guest was throughout it! I think I remember an interview or a clip of some sorts where Madonna said that even she regrets some of her actions during the Truth or Dare documentary, but she was pretty vague about it. Sometimes it really is difficult to tell which choices are made by an artist and which one's by their management, even someone as high-calibre as Madonna, I guess... Oh, by the way, perfect timing: Your book on Madonna arrived yesterday! The wombat and koala postmarks were a clear giveaway~. My first thought: Wow, it's huge! Thanks again - I'll read it as soon as possible!
This is a truly captivating interview. Thank you Kevin, for sharing your stories. You sound so smart & confident. I was 14 when Truth or Dare came out. It was the first time I ever saw gay men portrayed on screen in a way I felt like we're real and human. I could see parts of myself in you - minus the incredible dancing & Madonna, of course. haha. The movie was a very formative experience for me growing up. You say you're a Libra... & Madonna's a Leo (Aug 16 - my birthday too, btw. Seriously!). I'm no astrologist, but I have a feeling you guys will reunite in a positive way someday.
From a very early age I was aware of two things: 1. I am an artist 2. Artist will be fked over I have learned that by reading biographies from an early age and listening to artists talking about their experiences. Becaiuse of that I knew I needed a degree and had to learn something else too! When I was 16 I started dancing.. When I was 21 I have started singing. When I was 23 I have started writing song. I have written and recorded my first album at 34 and did not sign any contracts that did not reflect what I thought I deserved. People just are not educated enough or care enough to read the small print. I am not a professional artist today. But I am happy!
Madonna is just mean. She seems like the best/worst example of those.people who believe artists and creators should be grateful for the "experience" and not receive actual, real money.
Stumbled across this interview and i like the fact that he is appreciative of what truth or dare done for him looking back as at the time and with lawsuits etc getting caught in that bubble at the time. i will listen to more of your shows much love from the the UK
kevin sounds like a cool dude. certainly has it together. great job mister! i do have to say without knowing or being in the situation everything seems about madonna. why? if she was so close and "maternal" to them why didnt she GO to THEM and try to make things right? kevin could have explained everything and she could have said to her company "pay them whats in their contracts and lets be done with this". we are all people. we should all be treated as such
Characterizations aside, the plain truth of @safetyatwork comment is clear and I doubt you’d disagree. The goal of this episode must have been to draw Madonna fans to listen. Kevin is a talented artist. I wish I had seen more of him after Blonde Ambition. But his conversation about her, at 52:00 specifically, belies a certain amount of lingering contempt. As fans, we will find his tone problematic and many of his claims suspect. All of that to say, Kevin is seemingly unaware of why we are listening to him and I’m afraid that you might also be unaware. I like your show. This was my first listen. I’ll be happy to check out more in the future.
Well no shit, Sherlock. So insane to me how your blind sycophantic worship of that cheap old crone makes you people INCAPABLE of empathizing withher grossly underpaid dancers who were used and treated like dog crap after they dedicated a large chunk of their lives to make HER TOUR great
Dear Kevin; Michael Jackson began incorporating knee pads into his performances during the 1980s, (way earlier than you meeting him) particularly as his dance routines became more physically demanding. There is LITERALLY tons of pictures online ! Nice try though!
I watched that movie as often as possible at the cinema. I got a copy and had it playing at home all the time. Looking back I feel sad that I was so enamoured by Madonna. She was fierce and strong, talented and refreshing but she is not a good role model as a person in my opinion.
