Watching from Kenya East Africa How about you do a Toyota Corolla from the 90' I own a 1999 Toyota Corsa 1350 cc 4AE engine Love your channel Keep up the good work
Would have been intresting to see you try a "sporty" diesel engine like getting that 5 series as a 530d or 535d (with the M57 engine) but maybe that would lose you some views since diesels are not as popular on your side of the ocean. If you are willing to give it a try, this engine was used for multiple 3 litre diesel bmws between 1998 and 2013 like e46, e39, e9x, e60, e38, etc
What about the Ford Fiesta ST? Comparatively easy to work on, high mileage examples are cheap enough to fit in the price range, and parts availability is generally good. The Focus ST is similar, but not as fun to drive due to the larger size and higher weight.
Mini Cooper S (supercharged up to 2006, turbo after that). They are nimble, peppy, and so cheap you could buy one, K swap it, and still be under your $6k budget.
I agree with this, especially the R53. Super cheap and plentiful, sounds great and can do some easy mods for more power. Plus they are BMW so Pete could get on board.
The Mazdaspeed6 is a pretty sweet sedan that's relatively rare but very quick and can be had for an affordable price! Along those lines, the Subaru Legact 2.5GT is a fun turbo sedan.
The most overlooked cheap, fun sports car is the BMW Z3 roadster. Easy to find cheap 2-seater, 6-cylinder, manual with LSD. Not super fast, but lots of fun to toss around.
Pete is in need of a BMW intervention. This one is throwing red flags at every turn but he just keeps ignoring or rationalizing! List it now and chalk it up as a life experience….😂
That was my plan. To k swap a fit. VTEC academy has a good series. But then I realized I'd still have to do emissions in my state. Decided to go with an ek instead. But I'd love to see that happen on your channel!.
@BigLoMayne idk if you've seen, but gridlife has or had a full race series for the fit. They're literally some of the best low buck track cars around. Do a little research. They're very very good. Actually type in Honda fit on UA-cam and most titles start with " best car ever"
Do a mr2 spyder. Such an underrated car with a lot of engine swap options! 2zz, honda k series, 2AR or if super crazy 2GR are all very swappable options and makes for an awesome mid engine track car!
Honda CR-Z. A car that is limited by it's hybrid powertrain, but I also think has a lot of potential to be turned into a fun smaller car reminiscent of the 90s Hondas.
99-05 TDI!!! Audi TT front suspension, TT steering rack, TT convertible subframe, turbo from a Passat TDI, and an Automatic TDI injector pump. $10k for a reliable, fuel efficiency and engaging drive golf/jetta/newbeetle
I think you’d be hard pressed to find a mk7 that isn’t a basket case for under $10k but how about a mk7 Golf. Easy to upgrade because MQB chassis and cheaper.
@@EvilSe7en Agreed, a mk GTI will probably be a complete turd for under $6k. But you're right about the Golf, with some simple mods you'd be at or past GTI hp numbers and a very tuneable platform
I wish you guys would work on of play with a 2012/3 Hyundai Genesis r-spec v8. They were sedans :) and are bulletproof! They also can be found for $6k USD with 100k miles or less
My vote is for the any 07K powered Volkswagen Golf, Jetta, or Beetle from the early 2000s. The 2.5 cylinder isnt exactly a powerhouse... But they're reliable, affordable, and since they share their platform with the GTI/GLI the parts options, both OE and aftermarket is nearly endless. Plus a nice exhaust makes that 5 cylinder sound pretty damn good.
When you start a xDrive car after a dead battery, those lights will come on. You have to turn the steering wheel fully counterclockwise and then fully clockwise and it calibrates it. The reason they went off after you started driving is because turned the wheel.
Here's one no one will say. 2009 or 2010 Chevy Cobalt SS. You can find them here in the states for around $7-10k for examples around 100k. Engines were fantastic and they can make 300whp for not a lot of money.
You can maybe do a XHP transmission tune to make the gearbox shift faster You can also do X-Delete tune to disconnect the front clutch for AWD and make it RWD
As a current owner of Supra with 8hp and e90 335i with the 6hp (assuming the 535i also has a 6hp family transmission), XHP is definitely worth it on 6HP and even helps with the newer 8HP. The 6HP, after doing a seals, solenoids, fluid, and resetting transmission adaptations felt much better. Resetting adaptations and doing the learn procedure was pain because of ZF’s strict documented process, but cleared the wonky shift pressures that the TCU learned over time from prior use and trying to compensate. After doing service, then drove around for few hundred miles then flashed XHP, and was night and day difference. It felt ALMOST like an 8HP transmission besides the gear ratios. Definitely helped out at the track as well as daily driving.
When was the last time there was an LS on the channel or a "domestic" brand? The G8 deserves the OEM+ treatment without drag racing as the goal. Get the Aussies views too.
Love this series, and I feel the same way about prices/costs. MK3 MR2 spyder should be reasonable, and I don't see many quality builds. It's supposed to be a good track car so it's consistent with the channel's ethos too.
I’m the guy who came to your cars and coffee in September with the white *cough* Mazda3 *cough* Mazdaspeed 3. So you know what my answer is. 😁 Unfortunately you won’t find one in the condition of mine for that price
1st generation Audi TT, 5th gen Prelude. If you want a MazdaSpeed6, I have one with a misfire for cheap. You will need to figure out transportation from California, though.
mk7.5 Volkswagen Golf comfortine, I can give you mine, it's mint and it has a neuspeed power module. Put a suspension, tune the ecu with a proper tune and you have an amazing car for cheap, way cheaper than a GTI.
Post in the comments below which car you'd like us to build for this challenge! Try to limit your car choice to one car per post please!

Defo honda fit rs
Would be really cool to see Toyota Mark X because I used to own it, but the car is for japan only. I think it got the same chassis as Lexus IS.
Volvo S60 R, because I wanted to mention something you didn't already mention and would be fun to learn more about
+1 or any fun turbo/ SC Volvo. V60, V70.
Good pick, something different but cool
Don't see too many Volvo builds myself. I would love to see a series on the s60 or v70 cars. Sedan or wagon.... don't matter to me
I found my 07 2.5t awd with only 103k. For under 10k...
Volvo's are solid

what about a K swapped R55 Clubman?
Yes!! I had an R53 and I absolutely loved how it drove. I’d still have it now if it wasn’t for the drunk driver that hit me.
Acura TSX or Acura TL
Tsx 201 n/a hp reliable
1st gen TSX all the way!
Why?
@Infinite_AM why not?
I actually want one of these that would be nice to see
Mazdaspeed3? Or Mazdaspeed6? I like to TSX idea too. How about Infiniti G20 if you can find one in decent shape?
The Mazdaspeed6 is a pretty sweet sedan that's relatively rare but very quick and can be had for an affordable price! Along those lines, the Subaru Legact 2.5GT is a fun turbo sedan.
I suggested this too, mazdaspeed6!
Speed 3 would be interesting! I miss mine
The most overlooked cheap, fun sports car is the BMW Z3 roadster. Easy to find cheap 2-seater, 6-cylinder, manual with LSD. Not super fast, but lots of fun to toss around.
I agree. Even better find an M roadster! I had one 10 years ago and only paid $5500 but sadly sold it a year later

I've got a 2013 with bad paint and nearly 160k miles. But it's in otherwise great condition and it's in Buffalo. It would be well under budget!
Eww no
Not worth it unless you find a manual and kswap and end up spending 2x-3x the purchase price. lol

They could buy the one from Gears and Gasoline. Already 2ar swapped for track duty and not being used lol
I know somebody who just bought one of these with the sequential stick transmission and it's awesome
Honda CR-Z. A car that is limited by it's hybrid powertrain, but I also think has a lot of potential to be turned into a fun smaller car reminiscent of the 90s Hondas.

Always one of my favorites, seems to embody the formula that BMW had in the 80's

Yes! I had a 2009 4.6 Sedan and it was a really great car. Had intake, exhaust, coilovers, tune and aftermarket wheels.
Bulletproof? The 5.0 r-spec had low compression piston rings that give out around 80-120k miles.....

I vote for the Infiniti G35/G37/Q40. It's a Nissan Z under the skin so the fundamentals are there and the aftermarket support is substantial.
Or even an early model Q50/Q60 may fall into that same catagory
