A trick I learned for "lint build up" instead of trying to pick it out (which can cause thinning) try dying it or use a sharpie marker the color of your hair. The struggle with lint is REAL!
At 8 yrs in I just started using products. I did a coconut hot oil treatment. I have only used sisterlock shampoo and clarifying shampoo. While home my hair is always in a bonnet or satin loc sock. I haven't had build up or lint issues. Goodluck. Btw hair looks great.
It’s not build up, it’s lint and it’s unavoidable no matter how many silk and satin scarves you wear! There is no way to get it out! Without picking it out which will cause damage to your locks! No matter what anyone says if your hair is kinky you will get more and you won’t be able to get that out either, sorry. Try coloring if it really bothers you, that’s the sweet truth.
My consultant picked it out some. Come to find out it was my gray jacket I was wearing. It had a collar. 😒But I ended up getting another jacket. I also use Seabreeze and a cotton pad. It does a good job of keeping them lint free. I also keep a bonnet on at the house when I’m lounging around. Good Luck!
Try lemon dish soap. The lemon breaks down the build up.

I was thinking it looks more like lint instead of build up. There's no way to remove it other than to pick it out. That's not the best option as there is a risk of unraveling the loc. I know that from personal experience. 😣Most people opt to just dye their hair to cover it. Some people also swear by daily loc brushing (with a super soft bristle brush) to avoid getting more lint. I hope this bit of info helps!
It’s definitely build up because I would see it when I was washing my hair more frequently it will go away and now that I’m not washing my hair as frequently it’s building up more and it’s also probably combination of lit as well but a majority of it is build up Dying my hair has crossed my mind but I’m gonna keep trying and just detox but that is my most problematic area 😣 thank you I’ve heard of the soft bristle brush tip 🙌🏾
