hi I am new to this could you tell me when you place interfacing onto material to iron does it go on the right side or wrong side of material. Thanks for the video
I'm a beginner and this was super helpful! I do have a quick question, with the opening, the part you used to turn the placemat right side in, how did you close it? I see that you did a top stitch all the way around, but I wasn't sure if that would close it or do you hand stitch the opening closed?
For these placemats I only did it on one piece per placemat, but honestly you could do it on both to make it a little bit stiffer and it would be very nice.
Absolutely. I used my normal sewing machine, just with a walking foot. If you don’t have a walking foot you can totally still do this, just go slow and make sure the fabric isn’t dragging as you go. But you can totally do it!
I don’t remember what I used specifically for this project, but I generally use Pellon SF101 interfacing for projects. That should work fine for these 🙂
It would be easier for you to cut your fabric if you bought a cheap piece of plywood to place on top of your carpet but under your cutting mat. ❤hope this helps 😊 God bless you and yours ❤
Yardage is of most importance for any project. Your followers would appreciate if you mention what you used instead of what you bought. I did a mental layout (20"×3=60) and you could easily saved 12" on each color combo. Weave Gingham such as the one you are using runs about 20 cents @ inch. Zero waste is my moto. Sorry 👠
I think most people have common sense. I sure hope you don't eat at a restaurant, don't order from a fast food place or don't buy ready-made takeout food from a store to eat at home. You have no idea what goes on behind the scenes my dear. I do.
I’ve made placemats before but needed a refresher for my new ones. Thank you.
So glad this was helpful!
Your placemats are very cute and so are you. You remind me of one of my granddaughters. I love your fabric and will be making some soon.

Great question! The top stitch that goes around closed it for me, but it definitely wouldn’t hurt to close it by hand as well
Thanks for such a wonderful tutorial. What a beautiful voice you have😁👏!
Thank you so much!🥰☺️
Such cute fabrics! Also I love your ring 😍
Omg thank you so much 🥰
Is the interfacing only on one piece of fabric per placemat? Not every piece? Thx
For these placemats I only did it on one piece per placemat, but honestly you could do it on both to make it a little bit stiffer and it would be very nice.
How many inches do you sew around the placemat? 1/4" for both?
Yes!
Can one use a regular basic sewing machine to sew placemats ?
Absolutely. I used my normal sewing machine, just with a walking foot. If you don’t have a walking foot you can totally still do this, just go slow and make sure the fabric isn’t dragging as you go. But you can totally do it!
Its really helpful
Glad you think so!
What kind of interface do you use for these?
I don’t remember what I used specifically for this project, but I generally use Pellon SF101 interfacing for projects. That should work fine for these 🙂
Is your interfacing iron or is it pelon can I buy pelon that I can iron on instead of sewing it on.
What is your seam allowance?
I used a half inch seam allowance for this project. That is typically my go-to since I can just line it up with my presser foot
Thank you!
Very helpful
Thank you so much!
Simple and achievable
Thank you!
What size is your cutting mat?

It’s better to use a table for cutting. Especially straight lines.
Sure hope you re-washed those placemats before you ate-off-of-them; after having them all over the rug on the floor.
Absolutely! Always want to make sure they are clean before using 🙂
Katie Love you must be fun at parties
