- This week I take you behind the scenes of filming Black Friday for the UA-cam release! We filmed 3 shows and then did a bunch of pickups, inserts and special shots. I mean it when I say... ya'll ain't ready!

This is exactly what theatre kids do when they’re rehearsing another show; they sing stuff from their last show

Seeing them sing old show songs threw me back to my high school theatre days (god i need to get back into theatre- 3 years is too long)
Literally the last cast party I went to a month ago, this happened where everyone started singing the songs from last year's musical.
declansdumb I did a show last year and we are currently working on another but we still sing the songs from last year
I didn‘t even do Musical theatre and this is accurate XD we Used to sing the song we bowed to or whatever played while the audience sat down
Curt is really a real one for giving us all the behind the scenes of a Starkid show

The extra dedication to blocking for the filming vs. blocking for stage is incredible. They aren't just filming the performance - they're shooting us a whole ass movie and I appreciate it greatly!
Shona Simpson I was so confused watching this. I was under the impression that Starkid just filmed a show, and put it on UA-cam. I had no idea that it was like a moving, stopping and starting scenes. Have they done that for all the Starkid shows on UA-cam? At least the newer ones? And were people in the audience? Did they just sit through the “cuts” and “actions”?

Up until now the shows have basically just been a straight recoding of the live show (though they use bits from two or three shows to get the best performances). They’ve recorded some insert shots for shows before - on hmb most of the candy puns were inserts because Jeff never got them all correct, and on tgwdlm any of the shots of people coming down the aisle and the close ups involving fake blood were filmed separately.
As far as I’m aware this is the first show where they’ve specially shot whole sections for the UA-cam version (if you compare how Black Friday looks to the other shows you can see the the difference in close ups and the amount of camera movement).
For the inserts in Black Friday they did have a ‘fake audience’ who basically just got to sit through certain sections of the show as they filmed it! (I’ve no idea if they used friends/family or just put out a message ask for people to come along) but most of the UA-cam version is taken from regular shows, the inserts are just for things they physically couldn’t shoot without disrupting the actual show

I literally spent the first 10 minutes of the show trying to figure out who the dad was because I didn’t recognize Dylan until he started singing 😂😭
It took me a minute when I first saw it. I was like, why are people cheering. Then he came in on the “I remember terrible things” lime and It just clicked.

Deadass when he walked on stage for the first time I was like "huh, that looks a lot like dylan! wonder who this is!" and then he started talking and I was like "oh shit that's actually dylan" and my boyfriend laughed at me so hard we had to pause the show

abi Exactly! It’s also the very beginning of the song “The Guy who didn’t like musicals”. It’s Starkid’s way of linking the two shows together which I really like!

b e e I think that in the livestream something was said about Robert Manion and professor hidgens. I don’t remember exactly if it was that he would be making a cameo or if it was something about the name but I guess we will just have to wait and see (at least waiting for the UA-cam version)

Honestly, not only are these videos a joy to watch and make me more excited than ever to watch this, they really are a comfort to know that everyone in the industry goes through similar debacles like rehearsal miscommunication and stuff!

Um... what is more frightening is that no one drank blood in the digital ticket so I am kinda concerned as to what the hell is happening in the youtube version.
@@CV-Moore this comment is a SPOILER if you haven't seen it yet. They're not drinking blood, they all put some in their mouths to spit out to show a large blood splatter. Nick goes "3, 2, 1, BANG!" and they all spit it out. It's probably a post-production scene showing the results of when Sherman gets shot in the head.
