thank you thank you thank you...this was a great help for me. just got the tool in the mail and now im about to go apply this new knowledge. stay tuned !!!!
Love it, mine has flathead adjusters. 2002 455 rancher! Also my adjusters only move half a turn, need to clean the carb finally after 22 years of running it might be finding out what the deal is with that then!
Great stuff. My recent purchase of a husqvarna 435X-torq 2015 model isn't running, bought the splined tool of Ebay for just over a fiver...then discovered someone has fecked about before and fitted a carburettor with flat blade screwdriver screws🤔DOH! Anyway...will try this with it all the same.
So my theory still stands firm a 99% of these instructional videos just skip to the 50% mark on the video then you'll actually start getting some kind of useful information
All honesty I ordered the special tool for adjusting the hi low jet screws from amazon for $5.99 I followed this dudes video and it was starting and running perfectly with about 10 minutes. No BS.
I have 2 450 Ranchers and they both take a 5mm 20 spline tool to adjust them and you can't find that tool for sale anywhere. Says discontinued by manufacturer.
Is your carburetor 3rd party or OEM? I have a Husqvarna 450 chainsaw. And when I replaced the carburetor with a 3rd party, it just screams and go crazy like never before. So I'm going to clean the old carburetor and put that back in and see what happens. If the original carburetor does fine, then I will just continue cleaning it and not do 3rd party carburetor.
I wouldn't mess with those jet adjustments unless you know someone has been fooling with them already or if you noticed they are loose. I'd clean or replace the air filter, new spark plug, and if it starts just run a couple tanks of fresh fuel with gummout through it to dissolve that varnish. Never store with fuel in the tank. Pour out what you can and run it till it runs out.
So I see you bought a tool to adjust the carb. What is the part number for the part you needed to adjust the carburetor? I couldn't understand what you said because of your heavy English accent. Wish you had showed the number on the package when you opened it.
I tried to rebuild a carb in an old truck I owned once. I’m here to say it is complete witchcraft to me as well. Thank god for fuel injected vehicles. Also, a tach helps.
This is my exact problem!!
I’m off to get the magic wand and gonna see if I can get the old girl humming again!! 👍 fair play buck!!

Start with 1.25 turns on both hi and low jets (assuming you are at sea level). Idle is always set just below chain creep.

Do you have to have a special carb adjustment tool. Any other adjustment drive I may already have in my tool box.

What is the initial idle speed setting. I didnt get that
I can't remember if I adjusted the idle
I have a 350
