Model Railway Scenery: Modelling Compound (Scenic base)
Вставка

- This video shows the layout getting its solid 'shell' of modelling compound, prior to scenic work. This is a mix-with-water product that forms a base similar to paper mache, and sets a perfect base to start applying scenic materials and paints.
You may even get a taste of how the layout will run towards the end of the video..if you're good.
Cheers

Having seen the as yet unreleased models, we have exciting things to be looking forward to!
Absolutely!
Good morning - going to model the snow that Twywn received yesterday ? Have fun....
No, but it looked stunning
@@GWilliamsonModels - Friends and family down there, Twywn and Barmouth ❤
Great video. Regards Bernie
Cheers, glad you enjoyed it
I made a mountain using sculptamold and like you ……I didn’t like the feel of it at all. All my scenery is currently removable at the moment (need to move it all soon) and I was really surprised how just how heavy it is. I shall use my tried and tested toilet paper and Modpodge glue in future!!
Yes it’s surprising how heavy it gets adding little bits on, it’s why I’m conscious of keeping the baseboards light 😅
When you guesstimated the fascia shape, why didn’t you just mark it from the other side?
Because I’m an idiot Colin 😂
Hi George, layout is coming on very nicely indeed! I’m very much looking forward to seeing you apply some greenery etc! I have a huge phobia of dry hands on certain fabrics, especially microfibre cloths, I can’t go near them without wearing latex gloves. Could you not apply the bulk of that material with some sort of trowel like tool? Then finish it off with your hands but wearing latex gloves? Looking forward to what you have in store for us next!
All the best
Howard.
Yes quite possibly, I really need gloves but I ran out
Just a thought (not done so myself) but when tracing the scenery on the fascia plywood would it be easier to flip the plywood around after marking the baseboard limit and then trace over the scenery with a pencil?
That would 100% would have been easier, but I didn’t think of it at the time 😅
George what coupling did you use on the coaches
Greenwich, you make them up yourself, but they’re much more subtle than the Bachmann or PECO RTR type
Hey can you make a blue
taly lyin no 1
I will be making no1 in blue, I’m just waiting for a no1 body for the chassis
@@GWilliamsonModelsWhich chassis George? When it's Talyllyn, I always think Ibertren Cuckoo, which has been out of production since No.1 was in standard bronze green ... at least!
@@TheHoveHeretic it will use the skarloey chassis, but I won’t be using the body for it
Are you waiting for the fordees body
@@1960jackrussell no, another make, but not sure if I can say atm
Thats one thing I cant stand! Awful hand feelings, its payed off though lookin' quite nice! Also something from me i've joined the TRPS!
That’s brilliant to hear, it’s so good to support the TR ❤️
Yep I'm a big fan! I'd like to go work on Edward Thomas one day.
