Fully agreed. This is a touchstone music TV moment for me, never mind just the Later show. Totally switched me on the Crowded House, although I was disappointed by the recorded versions of FoL and PU after these belting live versions!
The voices of that choir in Together Alone give me chills. Such a stunningly beautiful song and performances. I love the little bit of that style of singing you hear in the backing vocals of Four Seasons in One Day as well. What a treat to have seen it live. I was lucky enough to see them play last night and they're still sounding great, but they really were at the height of their powers here.
Such an amazing catalogue of songs. Fingers of love and Private Universe, brilliant performances. Neil is a legend, so talented and the band is brilliant. 👍 24:09
Seminal TV moment for me, this. I only knew CH from Weather With You as a catchy & likeable chart pop song from the radio at this point but I was 15 and deep into my indie & alternative electronic music by this point, and certainly didn't see them as anything worth paying particular attention to - I liked much "cooler" stuff, haha. Then I saw this appearance and was just blown away.
I had this whole episode and many more on VHS tapes. Actually, I still have them…probably might be worth to do a transfer to DVD. Would love to see full episodes again
Crowded house - song 1. Class chorus with a student style lead guitarist having a crack with hair. Must be a top bloke, coz gtr playing ain't the best. great combo that many couldn't argue with. song 2. just brill. Crowded house blows all of em off stage. ty 4 music.
Thank you for this. I'm trying to remember if I saw them at Wembley in 92 or 94. If it was 92 I would have seen Paul Hester. Our seats were quite far back and my memories aren't very clear. But I think it was probably 94.
Such a fantastic performance by New Zealand's greatest: A great album, and have been fortunate to see them twice live. Good banter with Jools, too.

And have just got tickets to see them for a third time in November. Will catch up on the new album beforehand.
Their performance of Finger of Love is simply outstanding. My favourite of their Later With... appearances.
And Private Universe even better. Seriously, only 56 likes !?!?!
Saddest thing that Paul Hester isn't there. An integral part of the band. Sadly missed! RIP Paul
Top of their game here. Amazing songs and band is just so tight. Surely one of the best ever performances of any band on Jools.

Insanely great
I just found this performance… 30yrs too late 😂. All 3 songs are just brilliant live performances. And they are still touring to this day!
Outstanding!
I saw the tour for Together Alone with the full choir and log drummers, it was a sublime performance.
Together Alone was the highlight.

RIP Paul and Irish girl Dolores O'Riordan, The Cranberries who also played that night
30 years already! Incredible performance :)

Shivers down my spine watching that performance of Private Universe.

Me too.

There's been many a time you could quite easily mistake Neil Finn's voice for Glenn Tilbrook (Squeeze) and vice-versa?
Where's Paul?
Did they play Wembley Arena in 1993?

@@danielbutcher3305 Paul quit the '94 tour in April which was before the UK leg of the tour, so if you saw Paul, it would've been in '92.
@@danielbutcher3305 Do you remember hearing a lot of stuff from Together Alone? If so it would have been 94, if not then 92.
Jools doesn't have shit groups on his show.
