I mean, I grew up with the show and it's about as generic as they come. If you're going to pull the "this is some beautiful '90s thing that modern kids can't appreciate," at least do it with Batman or something.
Why? No offense but there's a valid reason why this show was cancelled and forgotten. I know it has its fans but it doesn't outweigh the ones who like the ACTUAL Double Dragon. With that said, maybe throw in these incarnations as DLC for the latest DD game.
Awww man, I used to love this as a kid. I was a big double dragon fan...but damn it does seem cheesier than I remember it. Haha. I used to watch this, the street fighter cartoon, and the mortal kombat cartoon all the time in the mid 90's........ahhhh, childhood, i miss it.
I had this on VHS as a kid and it seriously does not hold up as an adult. Except the theme song. This song is an eternal banger. It will always kick ass.

I LOVED this show as a kid. The theme song kicked ass, and the movie where all the recruited dragons vs all the shadows was awesome!! I even had the toy sword as a kid and my brother and I did the transformation scene at least once a day.
Probably the stupidest line ever. They are dragon warriors. Their existence is all about fighting and harming others. The only way it could possibly make sense is if he meant another as in another student of the dragon school.
i miss the 90s kids shows reminds me of my childhood..power rangers, x-men, spider-man, double dragon, masked rider, beetleborg, street sharks, mummies alive, vr troopers, ironman...alot more..gd times..
Damn! I must be getting old since my memory is starting to fade. :-D To be honest, I just remember this being on before Power Rangers. Wasn't exactly sure how many years were in between.
no biggy :) I just will always remember this series as the begining of fall of double dragon. The show in itself wasn't all that horrible it was typical 90s cheese for young kids... thats said what came after was where the story gets weird a bit. Double Dragon 5 (never mind the fact there wasn't officially a 4) came out was based on this series however it was not at all appropriate for the target audience and almost felt like it was going out of the way to spoof the source material and it felt like a bad rip off of mortal kombat (character bios were made mockingly in the manual, the sega and jaguar versions had blood, all of the versions had fatalities) if that wasn't bad enough the year the show ended they made a double dragon movie which was pretty much the final end of the dd franchise. That said Double Dragon Advance for the gba back in 2003 did breathe some much needed new life back into the franchise at its roots.
This show raises so many questions. Like why a martial arts school that's main principle is to "NOT harm" someone would give out a sword. But the greatest question is: how do you take the plot from the game and turn it into this?
Never intentionally harm another. Do not battle if you can avoid it. Jimmy and Billy Lee are Dragon Masters now. - Oldest Dragon during the opening sequence The premise of the show is that the protagonist brothers are separated at birth. Billy is raised by an elderly martial arts master known as the Oldest Dragon, and his brother Jimmy is raised by the evil Shadow Master as his second-in-command, the Shadow Boss. As a result, the Lee brothers oppose each other as adults; but when Jimmy is betrayed by the Shadow Master, he renounces his evil ways and joins his brother as a Dragon Warrior. During the course of the series, the brothers recruit allies in their war against the Shadow Master and his henchmen. The futile search for their father, John Lee, is a subplot throughout the series. The plot of the pilot episode is loosely adapted from the NES version of the first Double Dragon game, with the episode's villains consisting of the mysterious Shadow Boss (Jimmy's initial alter-ego), and his henchmen Abobo and Willy (who were based on enemy characters from the game). By the end of the second episode, Abobo and Willy are sucked into the Shadow Mural, never to be seen again, while Jimmy abandons his evil ways and reconciles with his brother to fight against the series' true antagonist, the Shadow Master. All of the characters introduced from the second episode onward are original creations made for the show, although most of the villains are also used in the Tradewest-produced Double Dragon V: The Shadow Falls, a competitive fighting game released for home consoles.
I never played the game, I never watched the cartoon, and yet somehow years ago I picked up this theme song as an earworm, and it has never left me. Brain, why must you always do this to me?
amazing. Used to think this was SO cool. Hadn't thought or heard about this show in over a decade but when I saw the movie was on netflix the words to the song instantly started playing in my head. It looks so terribly cheap now but yet it is still nostalgic.
Sure, the show might have been corny as hell, but this was one of the most kickass cartoon themes ever. But why was there a hip black kid at that dojo, anyway?
The top 5 problems I have with this: 1. Double Dragon takes place in 198X in New York, but in this cartoon it takes place in the fictional Metro City from Final Fight?! How original. 2. The game already has a plot of it's own. It doesn't need to be a Ninja Gaiden ripoff! 3. I see Billy, Jimmy, Abobo, Willy and Marian are in this are in this but where's Williams, Rowper, Linda, Bolo, Jeff, Chin Taimei, O'Hara, Burnov and Abore? They're all replaced by knock-offs of superheroes. 4. The Double Dragons are ninjas?! They're supposed to be Bruce Lee-based with fighting abilities mostly rely on having a Jeet Kune Do/Hokuto Shinken-esque martial art called the *Sou-Setsu-Ken* (Chinese: 双截拳 Shuāng Jié Quán, lit. "Twin Sever Fist") and they have signature moves such as: A Hyper Uppercut called the Ten Satsu Ryuuji Ken (Heavenly Killing Dragon King Punch), a Cyclone Kick called the Ryuubi Ranbuu Kyaku (Dragon Tail's Storm Wind Kick) and a High Jumping Knee-Kick called the Bakuma Ryuujin Kyaku (Demon Exploding Dragon God Kick). 5. The fight choreography is jank and the voice acting is dull. 6. DD 1 & 2 has the best soundtrack, it doesn't need to be replaced by this corny theme song.
I say that us guys that were born in the mid - 80's grew up with the best cartoons. Transformers, Thundercats, X-men, Batman TAS, Spiderman, Iron Man, TMNT, Street Sharks, Biker Mice From Mars, Double Dragon, Swat Cats, GI Joe, Power Rangers, Mega Man,Mighty Ducks, Animaniacs. "Never intentionally harm another" Ha. Did these guys even see the Double Dragon games? You do nothing but hurt people!
he meant don't hurt each other
Gabriel Ramirez man its funny because at the end of the first game billy and Jimmy fight each other
100% of the game is intentional harming!
It also says "Do not battle if you can avoid it", and it's pretty clear they couldn't avoid fighting the Shadow Warriors.

From the mid-90s always through the season finale.
