it looks visually amazing, the comics are just a mind trip which i hope the show will be. Good or not, hoping more casuals will get invested into the comics. I'm very excited to watch this. Dc for life
It seems like Marvel/Disney is overwhelming the DC competition with content, but DC is quietly (relative to MCU) putting out this absolute high quality gem of a series that will quite frankly put to shame every series Disney+ has put together in 2020 to 2022.
Ditto. The trailer is a thing of beauty and I know I’m going to enjoy the show but I wish or hope that we’ll get a animated Sandman tv series. DC Comics/WB Animation has always been impressive and I have always wanted to see an animated tv series based off of the Sandman comics.
@@DreadOfKnightFX Agreed, I think an animation would have been able to do more justice to a lot of the sequences from the GNs. I can see a lot of important stuff being cut because either it's difficult to do visually, or because "it's not suitable for 2022". Though NG has always been "extremely progressive" for want of a better phrase, some of the stuff from the comics would see instant cancellation nowadays.
Never read the comic of Sandman butI always heard like reaallly great things so I think this is a good excuse to check this out. It looks sick and I actually like the premise a lot of this ethereal-like vibe and the dreams aspects
DC has again started making dark movies which is their strongest zone. Unlike marvel which try to put comedy even in serious emotional scenes. Kudos to the team. Looking forward to watch it!
Brilliant, brilliant series. Can't wait. Hats off to the whole cast and crew. Jenna Coleman as Johanna is Perfect!! One of the greatest, most talented actresses of all time. 😍❤️❤️
A few people say they’re scared this series might be bad. Those people forget Neil Gaiman is producing this Netflix series. If anything, it might be better since Neil will iron out any mistakes/flaws from the comics.
Producer credits have a vast spectrum from early Feige to Stan Lee for an example. He is listed as a show runner but that contribution can also change. 🤞
I'll be honest, I think this is a series that should have stayed as a graphic novel. It's presented in a way that it's beautiful enough to captivate, yet vague enough force the imagination to fill in a few blanks. The story was told in an ideal medium which is one of the many reasons why it's so highly praised. A live action adaptation, by nature, will take away a decent amount of the mystique. For example, even though he was drawn very clearly, I had a very fluid image of who Morphious was. He seemed to change along with whatever scene he was in. I couldn't imagine any actor pulling off a role like that. The only person I could actually see being perfectly cast in this was if David Bowie were to be cast as Lucifer, because apparently, Neil Gaiman specifically requested that the devil look like David Bowie in the graphic novel. But that's not gonna happen for obvious reasons. Above all else though, I've been completely disappointed by all of Netflix's recent attempts at adaptations. I want to hope, but you can tell when a creator is devoid of passion and only interested in a cash grab. But there's nothing I can do about it, besides pray that I'm wrong.
@@punarbasunath7730 This is Morpheus, who is also known by the names Sandman and Dream of the Endless. VERY different character. He's comparable to death herself. Both are dwarfed by Lucifer Morningstar. As a side: weird that they chose to make Lucifer a woman in this iteration. Technically Angels don't have to be any gender at all (and they lack genitals) but Lucifer, Gabriel, and Michael were all given male physiques and figures in both the Gaiman and Carey Runs of Lucifer.
I really don't get why there are so many scenes that look straight out of the comic, but the Endless don't have the iconic pale white look. And no, this has nothing to do with race, it's about all of them. They just look way too normal this way. Also I hope it's just the way the trailer is made, because it feels too "epic". Sandman isn't an action/adventure story, it rarely goes for being huge and bombastic. It's moody. Scary. Slow burn. Full of short, poetic, atmospheric stories. This just doesn't feel like that.
@@benoitcecyre7081 Hey, I love and respect him to death (no pun intended). Doesn't mean I can't have concerns about the series or even disagree with some decisions. It's not unheard of (far from it in fact) for the audience and the author to have different outlooks on adaptations. If that was not the case, everyone would be obliged to hate the Witcher games for example :D
There is audiobook drama on audible. If you like audiobooks i 100% recommend you to listen it. imho, feels much better in audiobook format than in comic.
Well it's def not a typical comic book story, don't expect anything superheroic, I mean the main character is basically nigh omnipotent being it's like following cosmic entity from Marvel as a main character, most of the conflicts come from politics and rules of reality rather than something like typical action.
@@lazkraft7917 “Cosmic entity”? The Endless are not Cosmic entities bud. They are WAAAAAAY beyond cosmic. They are the beings that make up all of existence. Omniversal at worst.
Yup, it is indeed Neil Gaiman's Sandman and he was heavily involved in the making of the show, its a very good adaptation covering the Preludes & Nocturnes as well as the Doll's House arc with a couple of the standalone stories incorporated. Namely Men of Good Fortune, Dream of a 1000 Cats, and Calliope.
If this succeeds, maybe Netflix could green light more animated and/or live-action (I would prefer all of them to be animated imo) adaptations based on comics/graphic novels series from Vertigo like: -Fables -American Vampire -100 Bullets -Hellblazer -Human Target -Transmetropolitan -The Invisibles -Shade, the Changing Man -Scalped -The Unwritten -Swamp Thing -Y The Last Man
After the Resident Evil series it is hard to believe that Netflix will make The Sandman a good product, but hopefully at least it will go well because this is worth gold.

@@peskyspider5103 Why don't you think she is a goth girl?
They did a good job with Heartstopper and the Umbrella Academy, let's see how this turns out.
@@Jingles6466 Umbrella Academy was a neutered adaptation compared to the comic books' weirdness, like this show. I don't have any faith in this or any adaptation done by Netflix. We don't have to see how it turns out since we already have a lot of examples that came before this.
1:59 Here's the replay for that "Mr sandman"
Does anybody know if this is from a real cover and who's singing it?
@arielvaldes7679 Yes I know the name of the song. It's Mr Sandman by The Chordettes
1:34 gosh that dialogue dilivery gives me chills
as someone that loved the original series this looks so epic i cant wait
Looking forward to watch Jenna Coleman's role as Constantine
Thank you- it's an absolutely terrific adaptation of Neil Gaiman's work! 👍
As usual, DC giving the best visuals.
In a flood of terrible storytelling, I wait in anticipation for this masterpiece!!
This Sandman needs to meet Spiderman.
it looks visually amazing, the comics are just a mind trip which i hope the show will be. Good or not, hoping more casuals will get invested into the comics. I'm very excited to watch this. Dc for life
The visuals and horror is looking awesome, hopefully this is great
I love Gaiman, let's hope this doesn't flop or Netflix cancels it like it always does.
Holy cow this looks amazing. Biggest fear is Netflix because they always go for the cancel route and give ya 1 season and half.
It seems like Marvel/Disney is overwhelming the DC competition with content, but DC is quietly (relative to MCU) putting out this absolute high quality gem of a series that will quite frankly put to shame every series Disney+ has put together in 2020 to 2022.
Even given how great the trailer looks, I just can't fathom how they'll bring some of the stuff in this series to life.
Mr. Sandman, bring me a dream 🎶
So hyped for this. Best comic book series I have ever read. What a time to be alive to see it in live action!
Hopefully they'll do a live action 24 hour diner from the comics
A few people say they’re scared this series might be bad. Those people forget Neil Gaiman is producing this Netflix series. If anything, it might be better since Neil will iron out any mistakes/flaws from the comics.
Producer credits have a vast spectrum from early Feige to Stan Lee for an example. He is listed as a show runner but that contribution can also change. 🤞
@@shannond7437 He had final say on casting at least, and according to interviews it seems like the production team asked his opinion on everything.
That one animated short featuing Death was neat
@@l0sts0ul89 actually haven't heard of that.
@@andrewcoburn6519 its a DC showcase and he is on the youtube if you want to check it out.
It’s not like the comics have disappeared…you can still enjoy that medium.
Dc most awesome series, they ever released.
Can’t wait to see the whole family!
Bro sandman mcu Spiderman enemy right
@@punarbasunath7730 This is different character that shares the same name
@@punarbasunath7730 This is Morpheus, who is also known by the names Sandman and Dream of the Endless. VERY different character. He's comparable to death herself. Both are dwarfed by Lucifer Morningstar.
As a side: weird that they chose to make Lucifer a woman in this iteration. Technically Angels don't have to be any gender at all (and they lack genitals) but Lucifer, Gabriel, and Michael were all given male physiques and figures in both the Gaiman and Carey Runs of Lucifer.
I haven’t seen Remus Lupin’s actor be in a new series or movie in a while, good for him
it looks visually gorgeous ngl, but i still think this should've been an animated series 🥲
1:10 My Lady Death 💀❤️
Never seen any of movies/series with Tom Sturridge before and now Im a FAN! Great job as Dream aka Morpheus!
Is that Jack from Return to Oz at 1:48!?!?! 😆🤣
No it is Mervyn Pumpkinhead. He is a Batman villain I think
DC and Sandman 🔥🔥
WOW ! JUST THE MOST IMAGINATIVE TV SHOW SINCE GAME OF THRONES ! WELL DONE NETFLIX !
Unrelated to the trailer but anyone remember Rise of the guardians? That was a cool movie
Yes, same mytological character.
This will possibly be one of if not the most binge watched tv series to ever appear on Netflix.
Nope
not quite
@@phatmantv Aight we will see soon who is correct.
Debatable...
No lol
It's nice to see Tom Sturridge return to a main role. Underrated actor!
I can't believe this happening omg we here The sandman I'm so proud of what DC comics is becoming.🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩

@@Ciderpunk-jj5es DC Comics is doing fine, a helluva lot better than Marvel comics right now but DC Films is suffering under Hamada
One of the best shows on netflix!
Seeing DC and Netflix logo together in one video makes me goosebumps!
Desire looks spot on. Like straight out of the comics.
Take it up with Neil Gaiman , he seems to approve it all.
They're trying to sell it to the mainstream audience.
@@benoitcecyre7081 Gaiman likes money. Of course he approves of this.
This actually looks really cool
I've heard of the comic. Don't think I ever really saw it's appeal. Maybe this show can show the appeal of it.
There is audiobook drama on audible. If you like audiobooks i 100% recommend you to listen it. imho, feels much better in audiobook format than in comic.
I highly recommend. I didn't think I'd like it but it's now one of my favorite series ever
@@thomaskilroy4573 I'm well aware of that I was trying to simplify it to explain.
Can't wait for his epic fight with Spiderman
0:45 We meet again, Impossible Girl...
Holy!! Is this the endless!? This looks insane.
If this succeeds, maybe Netflix could green light more animated and/or live-action (I would prefer all of them to be animated imo) adaptations based on comics/graphic novels series from Vertigo like:
-Fables
-American Vampire
-100 Bullets
-Hellblazer
-Human Target
-Transmetropolitan
-The Invisibles
-Shade, the Changing Man
-Scalped
-The Unwritten
-Swamp Thing
-Y The Last Man
After the Resident Evil series it is hard to believe that Netflix will make The Sandman a good product, but hopefully at least it will go well because this is worth gold.
Well, Neil Gaiman is directly envolved, so we can have a litte more hope
I'm sure it will at least be watchable and interesting unlike the resident evil show, I don't get why its so hard to get resident evil right.
@@lucasmiguel4734 So under his watch, they replaced the goth Death and made Lucifer a woman? Lol
@@JDRamos213 and that somehow makes it bad? Lucifer literally doesn’t have a gender and death being a different race means nothing.
@@JDRamos213 Lucifer is supposed to be genderless and boohoo, get over it, Death isn't white, so what??

It is either a nightmare or a weird dream that I just come with in this unexpected show.
