    You basically nailed the Diamante (Magna/Verada) owners life. Rock up to the parts shop "ugh why didn't you get an EVO" "ugh why don't you trade it for an Eclipse". It's such a versatile vehicle, decent performance to take to a track, economic as a daily driver for cruising around town, and comfortable enough ride for long distance journeys.
    It truly is the underrated model of Mitsubishi. You can have your flashy rally spec Evo or your sideways happy Eclipse, I'll stick with my diamond in the rough!

      So true your word's bro.
      The TE-TW had a aerodynamic co-efficiency of 0.28 & fuel economy could go to as little as 6.5L per 100km despite only needing 91 octane in manual model's.
      Plus they had the most powerful NA V6 on the market at the time.
      Alot of the Ralliart Magna's actually made 210kw as a NA V6, Mitsubishi couldn't disclose it though; as they didn't meet emissions regulations with that set up.
      I still think they supplied them for review's though, Autospeed put one against a Subaru WRX STI & the Ralliart Magna killed it in a straight line according to them.

      It's not really necessary which transmission you get because the auto Gbox in a AWD Magna is the same as the one in the EVO VII GTA.
      Same with FWD model's too.
      So it is immensely tunable.
      You can add launch control by tuning it to stall it for a harder launch to 4500rpm.
      Shift's can be tuned to be lightning sharp & fast.
      You can add equipment to vastly improve durability like a transmission cooler etc.
      It's a versatile AWD car model, much lighter than a Mitsubishi GTO for example despite having similar tuning potential.

    What an awesome Magna, I'd love to own a ralliart or engine swapped one like this. I used to have a TJ VRX 5 speed manual that was lowered and had an exhaust, it was an amazing car, one of my favourites, so much torque even from the 3,5 whenever you want it and sounded great reving out to the redline. I used to beat xr6s and sv6s in a straight line and it was amazing in those exact roads around the Yarra Valley. Since I sold it I missed the magna's, such underrated cars that people don't give respect because they are not rwd.

    • @brantleyfoster021
      @brantleyfoster021 5 років тому +6

      The TJ series VRX/Ralliart were awesome looking car's with a very aggressive stance, aerodynamic co-efficiency was the best in the class at 0.28 & probably still is.
      It's not easy to make a car look good while having impressive aerodynamics, but it was accomplished.
      I still think the 5 210kw Ralliart Magna's are still the quickest car in it's class if you swap the full size spare tyre kit for a flat tyre repair kit like the new competition model's do & put newer performance tyres on the front, weight goes down by 30kg+ with increased grip level's after all; this also applies with the TJ Sport/VRX.
      It wasn't the torque that made them quick, it was weight; most of the review's were pointing out that they were significantly lighter than the competition with the TJ Sports being over 120kg lighter than the next lightest car in the class.
      The first serious competitor they had was the VZ SV6 with it's 190kw & 340nm NA 6 engine in comparison to the Ralliart Magna's 180kw & 333nm NA 6, but the Ralliart Magna weighed 1470kg while the VZ SV6 weighed roughly 1600kg; a 130kg difference & the Ralliart Magna isn't equipped with a flat tyre repair kit like the VZ SV6 is to reduce weight.
      I think the result is painfully obvious.
      But yeah, weight goes down by roughly 10kg with the 380 engine swap while power goes to 160kw atw; the Ralliart Magna made 140kw atw stock.
      It's being put into a car that is about 200kg+ lighter than the 380 after all, power & torque atw's will rise when their is less mass for the engine to work with.

    I had a TJ Magna Sport. I bought it not because I wanted it, because I had a car written off by hail and a mate working in a yard got it cheap for me and said they were good. It was a good car. Went very well, quiet, easy to drive.
    I surprised more than a few Commodores and Falcons with it. That 3.5L was a great engine. In 2010 I hired a new Falcon on a holiday in NZ and while it had loads of power, it was a lazy motor that you really had to wake up to get moving. The Magna delivered straight away when you put your foot down. I wished I had it in NZ on that holiday.

      You might want to get your Air flow sensor cleaned and check your fuel pressure checked. I was getting around 8L/100K in the TH 3.5 Manual Sedan. Average about 600 - 700 to the tank. My TJ Sports 3.5 Auto is about 600 to a tank. No way can I get 6.5 per hundred but around 7.8 - 8.2 per 100 is average I think. Also, you might want to do the fuel rack upgrade.. Simple and cheap to do for a bit more power and better fuel economy.

      As long as you get the TJ series AWD model Magna Sports 2003.
      They are still light weight in comparison to Falcon's or Commodore's.
      They weighed 1600kg.
      But the thing you have to keep in mind is the competition were equipping flat tyre repair Kit's to reduce weight since the VE & FG went beyond 1700kg.
      If you equip that model AWD Magna with a flat tyre repair kit, weight drops by about 30kg to 1570kg range as it won't work unless you remove the boot floor carpet & wooden masonry board.
      Makes the boot look better like that too because it splashes the exterior paint colour into the boot.
      Some came Supercharged too with 226kw & 422nm weighing 1570kg, it's almost the same spec's as the GTO but with significantly less weight, better Aerodynamics & no turbo lag.
      But just to be technical, some came with wilder cam's & compression ratio that boosted power by 30kw & 20nm+ for 256kw & 450nm.
      People are popping in the EVO's 5 speed gearbox into them since it's the most durable transmission Mitsubishi designed, reduces weight by 80kg in doing so.
      But just consider the auto transmission too, it's the same auto Gbox as the EVO VII GTA, so you can add launch control & the shift's can be made to be much sharper/faster for a baby GTR.
      Can also add the TJ series Ralliart or VRX bodykit to it too, just for a nicer look.

      Just upgrade the cam's & tune the ECU to run on 98 octane bro.
      You should pick up about 30kw+.
      Mits-Fix in Vic do postage of the cam's, look them up online & call them.
      Alot of Ralliart Magna's came with them from the factory so they are very reliable.
      It will be worth more like that too, but you can also adjust the transmission shifts to be quicker, change the stall converter to get launch control & add the EVO X paddle shifters for easier shifts.

      The Sigma turbo was not bad.
      But I have to concead that the Mitsubishi Cordia turbo was quicker.
      It was quicker than the Mitsubishi Starion turbo.
      The Group A Starion turbo was probably the best though, Mitsubishi was throwing so much money at it to make it the best RWD car in it's class.
      I think they did, the only car that I thought was better was the Porsche 924 turbo, but that was roughly twice the money.

      This is known as a Verada.
      They were a budget luxury car on release.
      It wasn't designed for performance or as a family sedan.
      Although have seen some sick build's doing the rounds due to the motor they contain, really they were designed for luxury not performance.

      I think it will be a matter of calling the right places for part's bro.
      Mits-Fix in Vic do postage of their upgrades, just have to get a local mechanic to get them put on when they arrive.
      Mitsi-Bit's in SA also do alot of upgrades, give them a call & tell them what you want so they can send it out to you.
      Look up their contact details online.
      What kind of Magna do you have & what upgrades are you wanting?

      Why not just get a low km 380 manual. Would be cheaper too, plus newer car??

    • @iamezza
      @iamezza 4 роки тому +2

      The 94 is the previous generation of magna, which is quite different and smaller car than this one. I don't think the 380 engine/box would fit. Better to look for a later magna or 380 with a manual. They improved a lot about the car in the 380 but it also made it heavier so it's no faster than the previous Magnas.

    • @stephencampbell8
      @stephencampbell8 4 роки тому

      @@iamezza thanks yeah i really like my magna but it just lacks a bit of power and the suspension is a bit too soft around corners shame because at the end of the day it's not worth spending lots of money on to make a performance car.. i will still keep it for many years but instead save my money for Japanese turbo or a aussie 6 or 8

    • @brantleyfoster021
      @brantleyfoster021 4 роки тому

      I definitely recommend a 380 engine conversion.
      You would be looking at $5 grand for a brand new engine.
      I don't recommend a 380 manual transmission as you can't install a LSD due to it being too large for the floor pan.
      Just switch to a regular Magna transmission - you can equip it with a CH Lancer short shifter & I recommend a Wavetrac LSD to eliminate torque steer & to make the best use of the power on offer.
      You can do a NA 300kw+ build using a 4.2L forged piston build on the 380 motor - it can handle much higher revs up to 8000rpm.
      Equip it with D2 racing coilovers, Grippy Michelin tyres on the front & polyurethane mounts for a weapon.
