  • This video really demonstrates what this channel aims to be; a channel that shows me Imagine something, Then MAKE it using low cost, readily available tools and materials.
In this project, I design (in LibreCAD) a 7-point star and then MAKE it out of reclaimed (free) particle board. The power tools used are a scroll saw and a 10" drill press. The only unusual hand tool used is the Duragrit sanding block. All of the other hands tools are commonly found in most workshops.
I was inspired to do this project while building the 8-point star. Once I had all of the parts cut for the 8-point, I starting re-arranging them and found a 7-point design that I liked. So I wound up building a 7-point that is very similar to the 7-point shown in the 8-point video.
LibreCAD is an open source (free) 2D drawing program that allows me to make precise drawings and make printouts to scale. Go here to learn more: librecad.org/

Also feel free to take a look at my LibreCAD playlist here ( • LibreCAD ) for an introduction to LibreCAD and to see some of the different drawings I have created. I often use LibreCAD when I want to create and print accurate, scale drawings of what I want to MAKE. I have a background in engineering so I think in terms of scale drawings.
If you are interested in learning more about the Duragrit sanding block used in this video, take a look at this video: • 126. Simple DIY - test... . This sanding block has proved to be very useful and I recommend it.
If you are interested in learning more about using a scroll saw, feel free to check out my scroll saw playlist here: • scroll saw . I think the scroll saw is one of the most inexpensive yet versatile saws anyone could use. It is also considered by many as a very safe saw to use which explains why kids often start woodworking using this saw.

I find as I get older, I have less tolerance for loud noises. Whenever I am in my shop using a loud power tool like the BladeRunner or a shop vac, I wear these earmuffs.

Thanks Allen. This project required a lot of work and time but I learned a lot and I think it came out better than the 8-point star built in the previous video.
