There was supposedly a recent comic book I've never been able to track down, and some Funko merchandise (a few Pops and a Soda Vinyl). He hasn't had so much as a TV show since the odd Baby Felix anime. And I only know that exists because they were clearing out the DVD's at the Dollar Store years ago.
@@scottmcdonald9497 Universal/Dreamworks pretty much gave up on their Classic Media buy out brands after Peabody and Sherman disappointed at the box office. They had a Bullwinkle cartoon on Amazon, but that was about it. I don't think it was fair to basically ignore every other property they acquired. Also, you'd think Felix would have been public domain by now. Of course, then all we'd get is a crappy ultra-meta parody horror film.
I have to admit that this is a surprise to see. Honestly, it would be nice to see Felix reunite with Poindexter, but this is a great start to slowly rebuild the Felix character. Honestly, Poindexter could be used for modern science teachings.
I'm reccently exciting for it since the long "waiting" period of upcoming Felix The Cat projects (despite the arriving the gaphic novel released 2 years ago). But since 3:46, without forgetting to credit me since you post the known fanart. Thanks for the attention. ^^
I still disappointed that Point Dexter is separated from Dreamworks. Cause I really wanted to use him in my Felix the cat pilot I made back in November.
Given Felix’s status as a public domain character, you’d think featuring him in the upcoming spinoff wouldn’t be that big of an issue. But I guess trademarks prevent him from being advertised in it, so he’ll probably have a very small role at most - if at all.
The old-school Felix the Cat cartoons ran on Russian television in the 90s, so I grew up with them a bit as a kid. We also had an NES game on a “Dendy”, a cheap knockoff system mass-produced in China for the post-Soviet market, in which Pointdexter was the first boss. In the early 2010s the show was also briefly broadcast on Netflix, and I’m sad to say that it did not hook me at all, feeling clumsy and poorly developed. Still, I have good memories of watching Pointdexter as a kid, and liking that while he was related to the main antagonist, he was a rather chill and likable guy who was friends with Felix. Let’s see if there is any future for this character.
Finally, Poindexter is back baby! Keep up good work btw dave lee down under. Also Felixs rights isnt really owned by anyone as he was public domain for years, but nice to see return.
Poindexter may have inspired the creation of Professor Utonium when the series was originally called "Whoopass Girls." In fact, his character design was a blend of Dexter's appearance before evolving into the iconic design we see in the final version of the show.
Alright I was about to freak out about Felix the Cat finally returning but after watching more of the video, this still seems pretty neat and at least something is sorta being done the brand. It’s also nice that this explains that strange Poindexter website I came across months ago.
I believe just using Poindexter without Felix is a mistake since many people including myself forget he even exist. Another problem here is that are many characters that is somewhat similar to Poindexter such as E. Gadd from mario franchise, dexter, and so much more. I can't even say Poindexter inspired any characters while Felix the cat indeed inspired characterssuch as Sonic the hedgehog, mickey mouse, and etc.
Don Oriolo (who is the son of Joe Oriolo who created the 50’s Felix tv show) infamously disliked Twisted Tales He wanted the show to be more like the one his dad made
I hope dreamworks animation doesn’t abandon Felix the cat like they did with me and my shadow and the otherworldly operations movie, that would’ve starred Seth Rogen and Melissa McCarthy. They are often known for just cancelling movies out of nowhere too.
Don't forget about Jimmy Neutron. Also, I wouldn't mind seeing a series about a female girl genius, as we haven't seen on since Daria in 1997. Even counting the Girl Genius web comic as well.
Nobody is making a Felix horror movie (with a similar way to Winnie The Pooh Blood And Honey, Well it's fashionable for public domain children's characters to become Slashers)
I hope that any new Felix show will bring back some other characters from the Oriolo series; such as the Professor, Rock Bottom, Marvin the Martian, Vavoom, and the Master Cylinder.
...Ehhhh, I'm not biting. No offence to the Felix the Cat fans in here, but I doubt the general public has any real nostalgia for a character over a century old who hasn't had any serious presence in pop culture for 30 years, let alone some rando professor who I can't imagine was that prominent to begin with. So it's certainly gonna be a huge uphill battle for mainstream acceptance -- possibly even too large to ignore.
I do not have any interest in Poindexter. This makes as much sense as all of Sony's movies about Spider-Man's villains that don't have Spider-Man in them.
It’s been ages since we heard from Felix the Cat.
Since the 90s

And we’re still not getting a proper series

At Least We Got Video Games
Let's hope Poindexter doesn't suffer the wrath of WARNER ANIMATION DECIMATION!
And how!
You realize that Poindexter was a DreamWorks character, right?
@JordantheDWandNBCfan5982 Felix The Cat is, not Poindexter
I like poindexter for that to happen
@@JordantheDWandNBCfan5982 I think that the animated spin-off was made by dreamworks, it wouldn't have been canceled.

I hope for the upcoming underdog new series this year.

Nice seeing you here! I instantly recognized that art style from your Twitter.
Hey! I like your art! Would you ever consider making a bluesky?
the returns of the legends
Felix and poindexter are legends
YES! It's been literally 2 decades since we got any animated Felix!!
I love felix the cat and I want to see this new series for the memories!

The first best cartoon character in History before Mickey Mouse and Bugs Bunny!
And now all we need is for grampy (from betty boop) to have his turn soon enough.
But, I'm really stoked to see our favorite (lost in time) to return!
Shrek: Woah, I... I thought you were dead!
Felix The Cat: My death was... greatly, exaggerated.
That's makes sense now flex the cat is wno by DreamWorks Animation and NBCUniversal

@ yeah and now we wait for the new for Felix the cat
It may not be the return of Felix the Cat revival, but it could be interesting how the spin off can work out soon.
Except the graphic novel released two years ago.
FELIX THE CAT?! THE WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL CAT?!
Finally, Poindexter is back baby! Keep up good work btw dave lee down under.

Righty-O!
Now this was very unexpected news! I look forward to seeing how all this pans out soon.

This is awesome! Felix the Cat is a cartoon I've always wanted to see. Now I've finally got my chance!
Felix returns
Why can't we just get a whole damn reboot for Felix the Cat? And not a spinoff? I mean, I hope this spinoff will be good, buuuut...
I'm really looking forward to seeing a new Felix series since the LONG 20 years gap!
Who wants to place a bet that it’s probably gonna get canceled like the other projects?
There needs to be a new Felix cartoon series based off the classic 20s ones
Felix my goat is coming back!!
Hopefully this will be a good revival

Nice 👍
(note regarding name of original creator of Felix the Cat: Otto Messmer)
Yay.
I did not know Pointdexter was spun off. To be fair, none of the stuff from the 1959 was really Felix. Wonder if his grandfather made the cut too?😊

Yesssssssssssssssssssssssss
My grandma loves Felix The Cat
An Pointdexter show?
Impossible o.o
Good thing Felix is actually in the Public Domain, or at least his original version is.
Nobody is making a Felix horror movie (with a similar way to Winnie The Pooh Blood And Honey, Well it's fashionable for public domain children's characters to become Slashers)
I thought Felix was public domain
That's great
I could Design Characters for it!
I'm pretty sure he could use Fliex the cat because early Fliex cartoon is in the public domain.
I was obsessed with him before I discovered Disney 😂
Poindexter is getting his own series.
My Mom loves felix the Cat 😻 🐈⬛️
I hope that any new Felix show will bring back some other characters from the Oriolo series; such as the Professor, Rock Bottom, Marvin the Martian, Vavoom, and the Master Cylinder.
Interesting
Strange when characters from ips split off and are no longer part of that ip!
It better be a 2d spin off series, that's what we want
But Felix is public domain so they can use him
Technically, only early, silent Felix is in public domain. Not sure how that would work.
YOOOOOO
I hope Dave Coulier reprises his role.
Sounds awesome too bad I don’t watch much Felix the cat.
I am familar with Felix The Cat
Dave Lee down under is there really gonna be a third loud house movie coming soon or no
I have no idea.
