Thanks so much for making this! I managed to get two Americans hooked on this show a while ago, so watching this without subs is impossible for them. Last week when we didn't really have a way to watch it I spend two days translating it myself so I know how much effort goes in to it. I've also learned not to up the frames or to try it in AVI....I ended up with 185 Gigs worth of video and little sleep. So massive kudos for you, your incredibly speedy translating and giving me the option to have two Americans experience pain over a dutch show when they lose points they have put in. One of them even downloaded the App. XD
Dank je wel voor dit. Immanuelle cracked me up at the fair, using the trashcan as a shield and talking about her mom watching and doing it for the mother country. Although as an American it was pretty depressing to hear "I ran as though the American police were after my ass- I was gone!"
likeanoldpairofjeans I don't think she meant it in a bad way. She said American police, because she's in the states. Didn't sound bad at all.. if she was in the Netherlands, I'm sure she would've said "Dutch police"
Thanks for your hard work! It is so hard to spot the mole this season they are doing a great job. No obvious sabotage going on and the pot is at a good amount. Makes me wonder if this is all a part of a evil plot for later in the season. I am leaning towards Thomas as the mole, mainly because he just looks the part haha but Sigirid is also on my radar.
Dank je wel Marieke! TGhere was one moment in the abandined facotry that really stood out to me - although maybe it's nothing, but... * * * I think it was Jeroen, maybe Jochem who was reading out the code on the wall - and read the second-last character as a 9. To me, it was absolutely a lower-case g. Anyway, both are on my suspects list, along with Immanuelle and Diederik. And Sanne, and Sigrid, and Thomas, and Roos... I have no idea just yet. But I'd've spread between Jeroen, Jochem, Immanuelle and Diederik I think.
Thanks so much for the translation, but oh how I wish the U.S. would just bring the show back as well. Not sure why, but Imannuelle (sorry if I've spelt it wrong) keeps intriguing me. For having such a big fun personality, she's able to very easily just turn it off and become quiet whenever the group is making decisions. I'd expect her to be taking charge more.
Ok... a quick comment... then a more detailed one below comparing this season to the last one (I'll use "spoiler asterisks" so you can skip the wall-of-text and just get the cliff notes here if you want.) Quick comment: my top suspect right now is Sigrid. She seems to be around a lot when stuff goes wrong. She'd be an interesting choice for the Mole, personality-wise. There's a whole bunch of people I think it could easily be, but right now she's at the top of the pile. I'm kinda sad at the two eliminations so far, since I've liked both people who've left, but the producers have done a good job of keeping all of the different characters interesting so far. Really liked this episode, probably the best one since season 14. * * * Ok, comparisons between this season and last (I'll keep things spoiler-free.) * Alright... so it's not exactly a secret that I hated season 16, as I believe did many other fans. For various reasons. The challenges were the most formulaic ever (count the number of challenges taking place in abandoned industrial locations, the ones involving contestants finding random stuff while talking on radiophones, and the ones involving exchanges of jokers / exemptions, etc.) The editing was distractingly terrible (think avid-farts, bleeps, bloops, quick-fire cuts, etc) and personality-wise the final five seemed to become completely indistinct about halfway through the season. * So that was Season 16... and while the first episode of Season 17 did a good job of representing some of the contestants' personalities, and definitely fixed the editing problems of the previous season, it had only one "money" challenge that didn't seem to require much teamwork. A challenge that didn't seem to make much use of the local culture either. The rest was all about the exemption "prisoner's dilemma" situation. So I was worried. * Happily, this second episode has been a MASSIVE improvement over both the first episode of season 17 and everything in season 16. There've been exemptions but no jokers or other random tokens, leaving room for the contestants and the challenges to work. And work they did. I think the fairground challenge combined great use of a great local setting, a great display of the contestants' personalities (Sanne's hatred of fairground rides was hilarious), and a genuinely interesting and tense game that also seemed to be fair and reasonable for the contestants to complete. * Then they brought back a past challenge, the "lie detector" one, and unlike the challenges they brought back in S16, this one is a game that could easily be used again and again without ever seeming "stale" because it depends so much on the personalities of the contestants and the setting and culture that they're in. It's also a great game for the viewers to "play along" with. Did I spot the liar? Yes, I did! I think the contestants might've done too if my Mole hadn't led them astray... * So, overall... yeah, really happy with the direction this season is taking now. It seems like the producers have done what they needed to do, taken some difficult feedback, and really made an effort to bring the show back to where it should be. This is exactly what I'd hoped for. We've had one good challenge and two excellent ones, we're getting opportunities to get to know the contestants a lot better, the terrible direct-to-DVD-action-movie style editing has gone, and the show just feels like it's had some new life injected into it. If things continue like this, we might just get a return to form of the show that I used to love. I'm rooting for that to happen!
Oh yeah, forgot to thank Marieke for once again making it possible for us to watch this show. Thanks very much - and I'm very happy to be able to say, not just that I'm grateful for what you're doing, but that I'm much enjoying the results of it as well!
SPOILER ALERT * * * * Three reasons they should have selected the right person as the liar: 1. As they noted, Diederik can spin a great story. 2. His story was the only believable one out of the three. The other two were too preposterous to be lies. 3. The other two stories featured Elvis. I was able to spot him right away as the liar, but I suppose it's more difficult to think when you're an actual contestant living off adrenaline all the time. As for suspects, I'm really not sure. Based on what happened to Vincent, I don't think it's Thomas. I'd also be surprised if it's Imanuelle or Diederik, because they seem to be having too much fun playing the game. :) Could be Sanne, since she always seems to have insight about all the challenges (though she didn't act very scared at the elimination, which makes me think she could just be a mole-ing contestant). Could also be Sigrid or Jeroen; I have no idea. (Roos could also be the Mole, but I get the feeling she's just mole-ing too.) Time will tell, I suppose.
I'm on ep2 right now. I haven't got a clue who it might be but I would say Imanuelle is too excited and "in the game" and Sanne seems way too gullible and innocent to be the mole (and I don't think she's pretending) - so these two are off my list at the moment. I always find myself being all over the place during the first episodes - getting to know them quickly, see and memorize what everyone's doing and follow the subtitles, so it's all very overwhelming at first. Is there a spoilerless website where they have a summary of each episode (tasks, money earned, who failed, who succeeded etc..)? It would be very helpful. Thanks once again for the intensive work of translating WIDM - you're brilliant!
Alvast bedankt!
Marieke, thank you so hard for all your hard work! This season the mole is so hard to spot. **********************************SPOILERS*********************************************** I feel like Jochem might be the person to keep your eye on. I can't say why, (I honestly have no idea why) but something about him is off. Its not like he is preventing them from getting money per se, but at the fair he lost money- at one of the valuable rides- by himself, then at the jury, he didn't even try to argue his point, which lost them money. Either he is SUPER passive, or an awesome mole. Although for the past three years my mole has been the winner, so what do I know?
I have no idea who can be the mole. I do think the one who made a same mistake but faster than Yvonne is Jeroen. Roos is very suspect so she might not the mole because the mole don't want to be suspected that obviously but maybe that her intention. So my suspects are Roos and Sanne.
Thank you so much!!! :) Love the show! Top suspects are Diederik number 1, Thomas number 2 -he was much more suspicious in episode 1. I think that the mole could've been one of the snipers. Frankly I think that the mole should've beed in the helicopter in ep 1 and kidnapped in ep 2 which should lead me towards either Ross or Jeroen. But I don't think is one of them. Either Jochem or Sanne for the win :)
modzel I don't think it is Thomas, because Vincent voted for him in episode 1 and got eliminated (Vincent did split his answers, but the other people he voted for were voted for by several other people).
See, Sigrid is my #1 at the moment too, but I'm a little worried... so many people seem to be picking her. Isn't that usually a sign that they're wrong? I remember most of the people in the Netherlands being convinced that Season 15's winner was in fact the Mole. For most of the show's running time, too...
Maybe in that two tasks, there were some offers like if you want exemption, leave here in the van or something like that. I think that Jochem suspecting the snipers were kipnapped three is very logical but we did not have any answer to that question.
I think those 3 were taken simply because they happened to be physically separated from the other contestants, so it was possible for them to be removed without anyone else noticing right away.
But after Roos and Jereon was kidnapped? They could take Jochem instead of Diederick. Then why Diederick? Maybe Jochem is the mole and he did not want to be kidnapped.
I loved the challenge at the fair! Wow, the mole is really hard to spot this time

Alsjeblieft
The video quality this week is excellent! Thank you!
XD
sunago I got the app too, and I'm Canadian! :D I had to pretend I was French in order to download it!
For those who want to see Imanuelle her 'party' in the fair, skip to 27:04!
I laughed my ass of at this :D :D
Sanne is such an entertaining candidate.
Omg dat van imanuelle 😂😂😂❤
Ja leuk he
Thank you for us few non native dutch people that loves to watch the show. i can finally see it without asking what did they say :P
The assinment at the carnival REALLY makes me remember of The Park. I wouldn't be surprised if they were inspired
Wauw! :)
Great episode! Thanks so much!
Thank you! You are amazing!

I'm just curious how many non-Dutch people are watching this? :D
A lot ;)
I’m watching in the uk
Yeah I found it through a (dutch heratige) UK UA-cam and now I love it!!
This video many people but it comes on the television and 3.5 million people here watch it

Thank you so much! My guess is Diederick.
I think the mole is Sanne. Great episode, great season
Fijne dag nog verder 😁

Zuleyka Mateo per say? Is that really a saying in English? Im dutch, so i really dont know.
Well thanks for pointing that out because I spelled that wrong. I meant per se, which is a word. Thanks!

jochem is my new suspect
What is the name of the song at 31:34 please?

Thomas would be a better suspect because he never says something and is really suspicious

it is Sigrid. my number two choice was Roos, but sounds like Yvonne went all in on her

H0lyMoley why did it take Jochem so long to notice Roos was gone? he seems tp have read all the characters without checking in eith her.
Adrian Perks Thomas would be a better suspect because he never says something and is really suspicious
neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Yvonne😭😭😭
Trust No one 😉
A Yvonne ze is weg :(

So I'm kind of confused why the three that were kidnapped were kidnapped?
Was it random? Or was it because they accidentally left themselves alone?
Ryan Chan nobody knows
