    I grew up on the Suzuki method piano from 2 yrs old and cello from 7. Been a metal head since I was 12. This is the real fucking deal. No frills or bullshit just raw fucking awesomeness. Makes me want to practice an extra hour a day. Cheers!

    This is really cool! I've heard other people do heavy metal on cello before but I just now saw this (been binge-watching heavy metal cello videos today :)))).
    I actually have not played (or even touched!) a cello before. But I imagine, when you play it, especially like how you did here, you can really feel the vibration of the body of the instrument through your chest and so on. Combine that with the really pretty and rich sound, and you've got a pretty great experience :). It sounded really nice and rich on my headphones particularly on some of the lower notes of the instrument, so I bet that's where you'd feel the instrument vibrate the most. In fact I wouldn't be at all surprised if there are perhaps some deaf or hard-of-hearing people who like playing the cello for precisely that reason of feeling the vibration (even if they're not necessarily "amazing" at playing the instrument). I'll sometimes listen to music on a speaker of some kind (or heck, even on my electronic piano keyboard) and then put the speaker (or keyboard) on my chest or stomach area to feel the music :))). It's a pretty cool sensation, quite honestly.

      Hey Justin. Thanks so much for your remarks about vibration! I agree. Music is indeed physical and physically transcendental. It's beautiful about that. Thank you for sharing! Keep going 🙌

    Playing the Cello myself as well as being a metal head, this is pretty awesome I have to say! And it really does reflect how hard it really is to get the intonation as good as with an electric guitar. Surprise: it's pretty much impossible. To be fair though, hearing a live performance vs. a recording sounds so much different it almost negates practicing for hours on end just for a video recording, so I absolutely feel your struggle. For this alone, I have to draw my hat to you. Very well done!

    • @emir_cello
      @emir_cello  Рік тому

      Dear Timo, thank you so much for your thorough impression. It is true that any bowed-string instrument are a few steps ahead in the difficulty of pitch precision than fretted instruments or keyboard. It requires not only knowledge about the geography of the fingerboard, but also solid ear training or what the academic called - solfegio.
      Recording and live performance are two different arts that has its own attraction. Recording is a sort of "mark of a standard" way to do a thing without a "mistake". While its counterpart is a life of its own where you can allow mistakes to happen and regain as soon as possible.
      Thanks for bringing up this discussion!

    • @5alpha23

      @@emir_cello good call to reply with things I of course already know but others might not! :)
      If I'm already at it, let me stress it once more (for the others of course): Anyone who has never played a fret-less bowed instrument cannot have any idea (because they have never experienced it, sic) how difficult it really is to get all notes "pitch-perfect". Only in quotation marks as there are too many harmonics automatically entering the stage to really call it that. On frets it doesn't matter too much where you set your finger to get the pitch right - on a fret-less instrument, it's not only the place itself but also the angle of your fingers. Change the angle by just a couple degrees and your note won't be correct anymore.
      But it comes with some big benefits glissandi that only very few other instruments can do (like Trombones) or being able to play "true" intervals (any fretted or keyboard instrument can do that, at least not without additional software).

    Is there any way to stop the bow from shredding?

    • @emir_cello
      @emir_cello  3 роки тому +4

      Thanks for your question. The basics to play the string instrument are always the same. As for cello, the idea is to let the bow "fall" on its own on the string. Our right hand will just functioning as a puller/pusher. Hope the idea works for you 🙏🏻
